I never really took it as arrogance but that he wanted to give Dutch a fighting chance so there'd be more honor in the kill. Thinking back on it now though yeah by the end he was one overconfident mofo.
Also how come some of the AVP Predators only have the thigh armor thing on one side? Have they always been like that and I've never noticed or is that an error? Last edited by snake5289; 04-06-2016 at 02:10 PM.. |

It's accurate to the film but it is an interesting point. Scar is all armored up, Celtic only has his right thigh armored, and Chopper has no thigh armor. Apparently thigh armor = lasting longer, no armor = biggest chump in the room.

I always took it as the Predator evening the odds for a respected opponent.

Very true but like En said he had tons of chances to kill Dutch. Instead he kept toying with him like a cat does with a mouse until Dutch dropped the log on him.

That he did. Then went out like a boss.
And holy crap that laugh creeped me out so much when I was younger. |

I'll pick up Masked Scar, and probably give the rest of this wave a pass.
Isn't it odd that the two ancient Predators in wave 15 - dudes from what I believe were from hundreds (thousands?) of years ago in the movie - have the exact same armor and weapons as the modern Scar? Guess Predator tech advancement has kinda ground to a halt, huh? BTW, anyone know when the Concrete Jungle Predator (Scarface) is due out? |

Not sure why this wave is getting a lot of hate. Sure they're basically the same as the last Preds (like Neca has done in the past) but I'll take as many Preds with the updated articulation as I can get. Granted I could've done without the mask-less Scar, but I understand that 'look' was prominent in the film. Just wish his mouth was closed.
As far as the netting not lining up due to the diaphragm articulation and ruining the "look" .....everyone is certainly entitled to their opinion and I definitely do not mean to chastise, but is anyone here under the assumption that these ARENT toys? If someone wants a static vanilla posed figure with no articulation that is 100% screen accurate and captures the look perfectly, why not just invest in high end statues? Perhaps I'm one of the few collectors who actually enjoys getting the figs out of package and messing with them...ok ok ok PLAYING with them...and I greatly appreciate the added articulation. Because I know when I get a fig in a killer pose, the very last thing I'm worrying about is if the netting is slightly askew. |

Don't assume that all Predator tech is reflective of what a few choose to use. Perhaps their customs and culture dictates what is to be used on hunts, as a form of tribute to their ancestors. This is evident even our culture. There are many hunters today who choose to use bow/arrow, and even spears, while hunting; despite them being obsolete when compared to modern methods.

Arguably they aren't toys under the typically thought of definition. Toys are most often defined as a child's play thing. These are play things but certainly not for children, even the box suggests as much with the "ages 17 +" marking. So they are toys in that they can be played with but they're aimed at adults, hence most refer to them as "adult collectibles." When you enter the realm of "adult collectibles" looks are often expected to trump articulation and standards are raised above what Hasbro or Mattel would make. I don't personally disdain the thought of misaligned netting once the figure is posed but it does look better if it can be matched up. I don't wish these didn't have the ab joints since it's cool to have the added options but it's gonna be a potential little bit of a bother to leave it displayed in a pose that breaks the pattern.

Honestly if I wasn't the Predator fanboy I am now I wouldn't bother with the latest series, they really do look like filler after the other AvP awesomeness. And that includes the Alien line-up.
On what you do with your collection, I display all of mine and any duplicates that might be worth anything are boxed away for the future. Posing them? Where, say, blood splatter on a figure is present, I can't have it not line up! Same with netting or whatever. I've always been able to find a way of posing the figure that still keeps me happy without doing that. And I put an embarrassing amount of time into that lol. I'm not a guy who's into art or whatever, but I could look at NECA's stuff all day. |

Not just NECA but any company that puts a high level of detail and appreciation into their figures. As in the regular art world some pieces are much easier to appreciate than others but you can tell when work and effort were put into a figure even if all the figure does is look good.

I really can't wait to have the space to individually display all my figures, at the moment they're all posed but bunched together on one shelf in a very small room. It's incredibly frustrating when you've got damn near the entire Predator line!

Im gonna probably pass on these... they all look too similar to the previous wave. A different helmets isnt enough for me to dump money on these. Im however oh ready for the next kenner style batch.
