Dark Horse, in this case particularly referring to their Alien and Predator comics.

I've seen worse, but nonetheless, I'm thankful that so far NECA hasn't announced anything that I would ever want. Let's keep it that way, as my wallet has suffered enough lately with all the AvP stuff and other assorted goodies I'd purchased these past few months. I'm actually anticipating heading into a toy "dry spell" for a bit where there's nothing coming out in the immediate figure that I would buy, which is a good thing. I guess!

Usually NECA is pretty damn good with their likeness sculpts, but DAMN that John Connor sculpt is fugly.
And surely at some point they will release John without the bike. The bike version will be the con exclusive. |

No Public Enemy shirt, pass.

There was a GnR on the back of the bike originally. It looks like they just used paint to erase it haha.

Well, this is a load of hooey. They advertised this set on the back of the recent Kenner Terminator wave. Why would they do that with a con exclusive?
That said, if there's a chance this will be offered in some form at retail in the future, I think I'll take a pass on it now. Quote:
Then again, Edward Furlong doesn't look like Edward Furlong anymore, either. Poor guy. More like a quick scribble with the paintbrush tool in Photoshop, heh. |

Here is the biggest reason why this is an exclusive! Eventhough it actually looks like the actor, people naturally are not into a kid character figure, thus judging it way too harshly..to the point of no purchase. The expression is dead on! They even included the T2 3D Universal Studios Ride head sculpt, which is a slightly older version. I’m sure the bike and all the accessories set them back, it even cost $50! More than most any ultimate, and he’s a kid....small figure! Same thing happened with Newt. People said it didn’t look enough like her, or they had no interest. I know for some it sucks that John is an exclusive, but just remember...there are always people out there that think like this. For that reason, the demand for mass release isn’t there. My guess is that they’ll handle this like Newt, and release him with Sarah in a set. She needs a restock anyway, ebay is pretty high now. |

Seems Kreese and the Karate kid line are getting a bit of criticism. If you take a look at Trevor Grove's facebook page the likenesses appear spot on. Seems that either the paintwork isn't good enough or it may well be these look better in person. Either way there's no arguing that the original sculpt is on point. |

Heh. I was just thinking I want the bike more than the figure. BTW, since Marvel Legends are a little bigger than true 1:12 scale would 1:10 cycles be the appropriate size for them? |

And I'm a huge Arnold/Terminator fan, so I'd totally be down with getting a John Connor figure to pose next to the mighty T-800. But if there's a chance that a bike-less John will eventually be released at retail and I'll actually be able to personally inspect the figure before buying to ensure that he doesn't have eyeballs on his fucking forehead, then yeah, I'll be giving SDCC John a pass. And yeah, the likeness isn't great. That's just a fact. But it is cool that the T2:3D head is included, at least. That one looks a little better, actually. Yeah, typical story...emotional problems from growing up in the spotlight, drug/alcohol addiction, mass Twinkies, etc. Last edited by Dolemite; 05-30-2019 at 08:36 AM.. |

Wrong. People bitched that Newt was a con exclusive, and I don't recall anyone complaining about her likeness. I thought she was pretty dead-on, personally. I also have zero problem with kid figures, and I'm not judging anything more harshly because it's a kid (which is a strange accusation to make...I mean, why would that matter?).

Your probably passing because the price range which is one of my other points in my statement. $50 for John is high because production costs, which is more than any Ultimate...even the new Predator. |

I have to agree about Newt. Lot of people complained about her being an exclusive, so they put her out later and that set sold very poorly. When my TRU was closing, we had multiple sets sitting there until the last month or so. Hell, it is still available on BBTS, on clearance.
Now, you can say that people didn't want to buy the 2 pack for $44.99, because it was basically the same Ripley figure re-released, but Newt alone was $35 at SDCC, and 4x's that amount on the secondary the next day. That argument holds no water. I think what it boils down to is that NECA might actually know what they are doing. |

Damn, I'm surprised people aren't more excited for John Connor. The likeness looks pretty damn good IMO. I'm definitely gonna try and pick him up. His bike is a must for me.

NECA just said on Twitter there's no plans for a retail release of John, way to be a dillhole Randy....
(Yeah I know there probably will be one down the line but this is gonna skyrocket the demand for this version)
