Is anyone getting this? I heard it mentioned a couple times at my LCS and didn't pick it up. I have never been much of an Aquaman fan since Peter David did him so it was an out for me but I am curious now, what has happened so far and would it be hard to jump into it?

what's happened is Geof Johns has succeeded in making it cool to like Aquaman. Seriously, Aquaman is a badass in this series, IMO. As a matter of fact its basically him doing badass things while citizens he encounters are making fun of him and asking him how it feels to be the joke of the superhero community.
He doesn't try to plead his case and make mundane arguments or comments, he simply does the only thing possible to shut people up; Be a Badass and save everyone's ass, even though they're being assholes. I'll be honest, everything I'm getting out of new 52 has all been through digital because this damn app on my phone is just too damn convenient and it gets me through many a boring meeting at the office (where everyone is used to seeing managers cycling email through a blackberry and doesn't realize one is just reading comics). Here's what I'm currently reading and how I rank them: 1. Batman 2. JLA 3. Aquaman 4. Green Lantern 5. Red Hood and the Outlaws 6. Action Comics 7. Detective Comics So in closing...yeah check out Aquaman!

If the remaining issues that make up the first trade continue this level of quality I would definitely recommend you check it out. I only became mildly interested because of his introduction in New 52 JL at the end of #3 and throughout #4. Anyone who can shut Hal Jordan up gets my respect.
Add to that the positive reviews the solo series was receiving and I had to see what the buzz was about. Suffice it to say I was pleasantly surprised.

I have never come across another fan, DC in general or diehard GL who actually cares one bit about him. It's always Guy Gardner, or Kyle Rayner, or John Stewart. Or even Alan Scott, too. But I have never come across a Hal Jordan fan outside of Geoff Johns.

You know... dispite the fact that Hal Jordan is absolutely everywhere, and WB/DC cling so tightly to him as the iconic GL....

I will second everything Greenskar said.
Aquaman is my favorite of the New 52 books. What was once a character I think most couldn't relate to is now one who clearly has his feet firmly planted on the ground, litteraly. First arc is done so now is the perfect jumping on point.

I might have to give it a look. If the first arc is over I better dig around for the back issuses and see what I can find.

And Aquaman continues the next story arc with another strong issue! An ancient data disk (by Atlantean standards) has been uncovered that contains startling data about a plot to sink the city of Atlantis. Someone's going through a lot of trouble to retrieve this data and prevent its secrets from getting out...and how the hell does Aquaman end up stranded in a desert?!
Still one of my favorite comics series in print today!

I just read issue one and it was a roflfest, this guy gets no respect. It wasn't that action packed but it can only get better. This is one of the comics I will be collecting regardless of any future money woes. I could live without lunch for a day :P.
