I'm going to do a limited run article series talking about some of my favorite brands that could use new toys and/or collectibles. If people enjoy it, I'll make it a more regular thing. Kicking it off with my all time favorite game series...Double Dragon.
New Article Series: Toyark's "Figures Wanted" Spotlight - Double Dragon

Hope you enjoy. I've have a list of about 15 articles I want to do in this series. So if people enjoy this, I'll continue work on those (already started on the next 2). Thanks for reading.

Looking at that artwork at the top of the article, I think storm collectables' asthetic would be a perfect fit.

Definitely. The articulation style Storm uses would definitely allow for the figures to pull off just about all of their moves from the game.

Wonderful idea for a series of articles. And this is a perfect license just begging for proper figures. As much as I think Storm would absolutely kill it, I think NECA’s price point is much more palatable.

I would love to see that line from any of those brands.
I was big fan of all the games... The last one was the Neon version... |

Last one was Double Dragon IV for PS4, Switch and Windows. A not so great direct sequel to the NES versions.

The River City Girls redesign of Marian could be keen.

They did have a line for the DD cartoon, but obviously that's not what most of us today would look for, unless they did like variants eventually for a game line.
As a nigh-exclusive 3.75" collector, I'd have to beg for a line in that scale at least. My dream is for everyone to get the scales they want for the lines they want, but since we get left out of so much cool stuff I'd want to at least have it as a side-line to a bigger scale. EDIT: I missed the part where you mentioned the cartoon line. I swear I read it all, I just have trouble retaining information these days.

Double Dragon figures is a really neat idea... but I think from all the beat'em up games Streets of Rage or Final Fight would produce the best 6 or 7" figures.
I would love Streets of Rage figures. I spent a lot of my teen years playing the game. |

Don't forget about Bimmy! Maybe an SDCC Exclusive?
DD Neon was an awesome game. Streets of Rage and Final Fight are surely needed. A deep dive into Capcom's great catalog of characters is needed as well. Also The Tick/90's Indie comics and M.A.S.K. would be welcome. Love the new series idea. Looking forward to seeing what's next. Keep up the great content.

Exactly, it's a crime that we don't have any collector items for Double Dragon. They just put their entire cartoon series on DVD three months ago. I would love to see NECA make them or even Tamashii Nations. Someone make it happen please.

I saw some comments above where people were mentioning Final Fight. Technically they fall under Street Fighter's umbrella but I hope see some of the Final Fight characters released as part of SF's storm collectibles or their Tamashii Nations line. I also hope they do some figures based on River City Ransom.

Unfortunately, as long as George Millar holds the rights to the franchise, that's never going to happen.

Dunno if they fall under Street Fighter. Final Fight didn't blend with Street Fighter until Alpha, and it's unclear how Capcom is doing the licensing for their brands. We could probably get Poison, Cody, Guy, Sodom, and Abagail (Since they've been in Street Fighter games), but other characters such as Damnd, Eddie, Axl, Bull, and Belger might not be covered under the license.

I definitely think it's between NECA or Storm Collectibles. Keep doing these articles, Joe. I also dreamed of toylines for several MANLY Anime which I want Storm to do. Material ranging from Fist of the North Star, Berserk, Sakigake!! Otokojuku, Kinnikuman, Toriko, Violence Jack, Devilman & more. Lately, Figma, SH Figuarts & Super Action Statues are doing some of those but I want the characters to be bigger as seen with Storm Collectibles.

It does fall under them because Final Fight was meant to be a sequel to Street Fighter but due to the concept of it not being a fighting game, it was renamed to Final Fight. It's no coincidence that we're now seeing them in SF games. It's the same as OVW being part of WWE. Speak of Damn'd he was rumored at one point to join the SFV but instead they went with Lucia recently.

Enjoyed the article Joe, please keep them coming! In general, I can see the issue with this line for any designer being how you want to create these figures in 3D. The old arcade game's body proportions would look kind of ridiculous with the giant heads. I'm not sure if there's any in game art that has any detailed look at the characters.
I really don't see NECA entering in this line, I just think there's so few characters they'd wanna release. If they did anything I think it'd be a reuse of other characters like the Contra figures and that'd be it. I think Storm would be best for these personally. They started the beat'em up category with Golden Axe, so I can see them doing a couple from this line. They certainly have the giant muscle bodies these guys would need. But I can understand the 3.75" collectors wanting something else. Maybe Hiya Toys? |

I would buy these in a heartbeat. Double Dragon is near the top of my want list. Definitely 7" scale.
