The line is back in Japan. I don't have any more information yet than this pic of a prototype.

I don't read japanese too. I will try to get a pic of the full page to help our japanese speaking members to translate it.

Maybe SydneyY or one of the other guys over at TFW can take a look? (I'll post a link in the TA section over there). Technically, it's TF news since BB were an offshoot. Also, I wonder if Deefuzz has seen this thread yet.

More here: Battle Beasts News: The DST Years: Beast Saga: New Figure, TakaraTomy Logo
Along with a second photo. Now THIS is the Battle Beast/Beastformer revival I have been very much waiting for. I will buy EVERYTHING! EDIT: Ahh I see that also was provided by Sylvain. Where do these images come from? Is it some sort of magazine? Last edited by Deefuzz; 04-12-2012 at 10:55 AM.. |

Near as I can tell, yes. Hopefully, someone who sees it will be able to translate.

These look odd, the torsos don't really seem integrated into the whole to me, almost like an IPod with animal bits sprouting out of it. I wonder if the chest display is electronic this time around, might explain the block-y look. I am still looking forward to seeing more of them.

Best hope is a place like Past Generation Toys or BBTS or even Robot Kingdom carries them. I don't think they'll see a domestic release due to conflicting licensing with DST over the Battle Beast property.

It's astounding how much Battle Beasts have in common aesthetically with the Decepticon Pretenders. Do we know if they had any common designers on their brands back in the day?

I may have to do some importing as well. Maybe my LCS will order some cases and save me a little money. Hmm...
Honestly, it wouldn't surprise me at all. Both lines were designed in-house by Takara, so it's quite possible.

I am excited as all hell for this line! Preordered everything! I just finished my M.U.S.C.L.E. collection and swore I wouldn't collect anything else. Let's see just how understanding my wife really is...oops!

Supposedly Battlebeasts (US name) was a Transformer spin-off. I don't know the whole story as to what or why they were or how hey fit into the whole story but, yes, they are a TF extension.
...Actually, here is the Wiki entry on the whole thing... Battle Beasts - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Explains better then I could. It was only a TF spin-off in Japan. In the US, it was marketed as a completely separate toy line. Foster and I were discussing the possibility that the designers of the TF Decepticon Pretenders and the Beastformers were the same people. The designers at Takara were/are known for working on multiple lines and IPs at a time, unlike Hasbro's structure where each IP has its own team of designers (which is why Crossovers are designed by Hasbro, not Takara/Tomy). Maybe this will shed some light on the whole issue.
What Battle Beasts Rights Does Diamond Select Have? : Poe Ghostal's Points of Articulation It was rumored Diamond Select Toys only had the trademark on the brand name, not the creature designs (or the rub-sign feature) That still belongs to takara who are remaking the battle beast/beastformers |
