So, on a depressing note... We have our first look at the new "mattel" inspired Iron Man 3 Basic Action figure line... Enjoy...
It is on the Hasbro Website, Iron Man 3 section. Staff Edit: Changed title, uploaded a ton of new pics. See news story: Iron Man 3 Items From Hasbro Last edited by Joe Moore; 01-28-2013 at 08:41 AM.. Reason: image codes |

Interesting. The already have a mold for "shatterblaster" IM from the Avengers line and they create a new mold with less atriculation? I thought the tooling was the largest expense which was why we kept getting repaints.
I also note that they seemed to ahve out Mattled Mattel. The MOS toys look to have ball jointed shoulders whih the IM 3 figures dont. any list price on these yet? I had heard it was lower based on bbbts listings |

Wonder how many points of Articulation these figures have? From the looks of it, do they only have 5; Two at the waist for the legs to move forward, two at the shoulders and one at the head? That's it!?!

I'm still holding out hope...These seem to be the same type packaging as those Ultimate Spider-Man All Star figs with the lower price point. Even those have a separate "Main" line coming out, so we may not have seen it all yet...

i guess they really are just pandering to the smallest toy buyers. i love IM2 Line but i cant see the average 4 to 7 year old not breaking them due to stuck joints hell im 30 and have at least 1 mark 3 fig that fell apart in my hands and all i did was try to bend his knee. i figure little kids probly did this alot and parents/grandparents complained to the company and now we have these. guess i can save money unless theres some super special accessorie i want in the pack

Yeah, we've seen both lines now. The Assemblers is the main line and the All Star iron man figs are the other line. There would be listings for other figures if there was another line.

BBTS has updated their listing too.
Hopefully this means more of the budget went to MU and Avengers Assemble then. Otherwise these are pure passes unless they start marketing "super poseable" versions as their "action feature." Then again, these also might be in response to the fact Ironman has been milked so bad as it is, they need to underdo a movie of his to overdo it again for a different one. We have how many marvel movies coming over the next several years? 3 from avengers, 1 GOTG, another X-Men, another Wolverine and potentially still a "new mutants" movie. So maybe they are deliberately holding back to spread the budgets to stuff they haven't done yet. Or it could be a test to see how well these still sell at the cheaper price point with the articulation scrapped. Hopefully we will still see better down the line. Right now I'm rather indifferent to this anyway since I don't need any new Ironmans other than the 90s modular and tony stark. Hopefully it means they pushed any comic series it would have had over to MU then. |

If you buy that one, you can trim the head to fit. It'll need a full on new hole since they were rotation cuts at the neck, but that head does fit the scale pretty well.
