no 3.75 inches or 1/18th scale started a lot earlier 2005
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marvel_Legends_Showdown but if you want to split hairs then we could say Legends started back in the 90s with those toybiz xmen figures. Quote:
IMHO there are two possible causes for that behavior:
- contrary to the rumors the contract for 3.75 inch line was not renewed so there really is nothing for us but they are not allowed to reveal that so they not put the latest wave sales in jeopardy (no distributor wants to order cases of discontinued line). - they really did not anticipate that question and had nothing authorized for reveal by the corporate management. Hence their confused "Should I tell them? Shouldn't I?" looks... |

Morning, Haven't post regularly but I am a die hard 3 3/4 collector. I got into Marvel line a little late and only collected X-men characters at first with a few others from time to time. over the last year I have been going back and filling in the holes. I really hope they do a 360 and this line continues and they restore it to its former glory.

I'm betting 4" will have to be almost totally dead, meaning no regular line and maybe a two pack here or there just like Legends before the big return, before they decide to bring it back if at all. I think Hasbro knows this line has never been what it should have been from the start, and I don't believe the "difficulty of running two lines" excuse when there's always some ancillary kids line going as well. Bring 4" and run it exactly like 6". Boxed package, themed waves, so on and so forth. It could include comic, cartoon and movie versions in a wave. That's the way to do it.

Yeah, but Legends was pretty dead for a while when and during the formative years of MU. I distinctly remember people on forums saying, paraphrased, "I'm a 6" collector but I'm jumping to 4" because of character variety/no 6"/insert reason."

"They are not forgotten" and "Keep the hope alive" made me feel like they were mocking the line/its collectors. Then they're taken aback when Jay C didn't let up. Like, did they honestly expect to just say "keep the hope alive" and let that be that?
Anywayyy. Regarding sharing photos. Seeing all of your amazing stuff makes me want to share some of my collection with customs made by my older brother for me. Can I just share whatever photo I can find on my phone regardless of theme? Share anything you like at anytime good sir. I think the themes have been something that have broght the thread back to life but dont worry about going off topic with other pics. it is after all a 3.75 appreciaton thread |

This Hydra Cap is actually a really good figure over-all. Good sculpting (except maybe a soft face), great paint apps, and above standard-for-ML4" articulation. And a good accessory. This guys balances well, has tight joints, and looks good. If he had hinge-wrists, he'd be top-notch.
The only trouble, its a lot of tooling money spent on a transient character. Where's the mileage going to come from on reusing this tooling? Maybe a green version? Why'd they put money here? Who knows. |

on the other hand we have faith - the choice to keep moving no matter the situation. this is projected from a giver mindset that is never STALL-ed, & eventually helps in generating that Hundredth Monkey just enough to tip the point. so fitting it into context if Hasbro projected a half-past six (50-50) scenario, it is left to us (consumers, or end receivers/users) to either do nothing to invite Murphy's Law, or do something every moment to prove our worth. that is what ukmu meant by everybody contributing something AT ALL TIMES; to keep our engine of faith running to a state of ecstasy (feeling good). that way, at the very least, we the Collectin' Creators can witness a slow historical death in glorious legacy & with minimal regrets.

As the old schoolers said, post pics Pilk. Even Jesse Falcon said that "pics online go a long way in our meetings."
Also, at least here in the UK, I have called HASBRO CUSTOMER SERVICE and asked about the continuation of a Marvel 3.75" line. They "filed an official complaint" and I was told it would be "sent on to home office." Whatever that may mean.... Garnering an online presence. The recent hashtag is brilliant. I am going to start a UKMU Twitter and a UKMU Instagram to spread it around. Do my part and all. I suppose I can start a UKMU Facebook page (under the ARTIST option so as not to violate their 'real me usage type's and get deleted) and share others pics via the hashtag. Maybe there is more we can do as well, what I am not sure. An online petition? Writing a letter a week to the powers that be. (Andy Dufranse style from Shawshank Redemption) Ask the editors of ToyArk, ToyNewsInternational, Marvelous News and any other to write an article? I believe, ANYTHING that is proactive and positive will help. That said, again PICS all over is the best way to make sure no forgets you. EDIT: @ Nut, "engine of faith" is a beautifully eliquated statement. @ MuFan, sort of. I don't know who that is though. I'm guessing the guy that made the terrible Superman movie? I can't watch more than 15 minutes of the D.C. films before I'm ready to bang my head against a razor. I tried...but wow, they are bad. @Prem1x, good mini review of HYDRA Cap.

Can you tell us what the legends guys did then to turn their situation around. I cam in as a late collector to MU and have read a few of you now mention that the ML guys turned the tables from their dying love. Im all for trying the same thing for 3.75 but just want to know what they actully did to achive it. I think if we all know then possibly band together to try save it.

In certain situations as a fan you are powerless... as a die hard life long Seattle SuperSonics fan trust me on that lol. We can only vote with our wallets, but that's not all that easy right now. I really don't think there is any type of magical bullet we can use to bring our line back to what it was, hasbro owns the masters and the molds, we can only hope they keep pumping out some good stuff and keep buying it. The 6" fans lucked out when Vonner got fired and Stall took over.
Hear that Stall? Doom is coming for you, all 6"s of him! CCC. |

At some point their train will lose steam and someone else will take over. In due coarse we will see it again. To what level, who knows? It was fun while it lasted at least. I got a lot cool shit now and have made a lot of cool internet friends (not the creepy sleazy Craig's list kind either)and found a hobby to share with my son as he grew from 5 to now being 11. We have more to go past his 12th birthday as well and that pretty much means his entire childhood was spent with this line. That is a good thought. Those will be memories will will both carry our whole lives. I am grateful for what we had and proud to be a part of it.
