it's absolutely wild how Star Wars and GI Joe bit it too. At least Legends is sort of a Legacy 6" thing but not many people collecting were alive to remember any Joes bigger than 1/18th and Star Wars has always been that scale, AFAIK, which makes sense since it's good for vehicles and playsets.
It just proves that it's absolutely some crappy ideologue preference with not much regard for what people really want. Some people will defend businesses as just responding to the market as if they're hyper logical naturally occurring entities but that's BS. Hasbro pretty much forced us to switch to 1/18th back when they bought the License as it was the 6" ones that had a drop in quality and frequency of release. Their modern 6 inchers are very good but the price is ridiculous. Wages & welfare(since we're still in a recession don't forget) have stagnated and yet we're paying at least twice as much for a similar quality of product as we did under Toybiz. Granted Toybiz MLs haven't aged quite as well in retrospect(with some exceptions, and the later ones were generally pretty great) but they did have a style and character(and generally more detail/blackwashing and stuff) a lot of the modern ones lack. |

Something like that. And they came with a full comic and really detailed base.

Toys have become more expensive across the board. That's not on Hasbro or Stall. Some places like China (where you used to be able to exploit labor laws to have your product made dirt cheap) have experienced a massive economic rise in the last decade and now their workers want crazy things like livable wages (the bastards!). There are other factors as well like rising oil prices, and I'm sure licensing also affects things (Marvel of today is much more popular and valuable than Marvel of 2002).

I'll stay on topic, but I missed out on alot of the Marines. I want to get their female molds in bulk if I can since they turned out great for my Carol.
The Domez jacket Carol head technically "works", it's just that the face is a bit large in person. Luckily you can boil a pop the hair of a modify the forehead and cranium to be smaller. The issue though is that once it does seem natural, the hairline makes her look more like Vancamp than Larson. Decided to fix this by making her face "pop" with peach colored paint and darkening her eyebrows with brown paint to make her expression more defined. Sanded the heck out of her legs, doing a better job this time making the legs look natural compared to mt HM Spidey. Nice work, Agemo! Look forward to the finished Carol. |

Was wondering the same thing. The line isn't new, but i believe Thanos and the HulkBuster are new additions (maybe Black Panther too?) While he lacks articulation from the waste down, his head sculpt is salvagable and the overall display of the figure isn't bad imo. i like his colors too. |

I'm surprised they gave him gold metallic paint.

So I learned two things.
1. Japanese Spider-Man was the first Tokusatsu "Henshin Hero" character to use a Mech, influencing the trend for Super Sentai/ Power Rangers. 2. The reason why MCU Ant-Man's suit seems weirdly coherent but different from the comics is because Peyton Reed was influenced by Ultraman and Inframan. Why am I saying this? Because I'm getting an irresponsible amount of that stuff from Shodo after loosing interest a year or two ago, and will probably post a picture of them all together once I do with my Japanese SPider-Man. Never did a proper full display before, figured it would be a good first one. Last edited by Agemo; 01-20-2020 at 06:28 PM.. |
