King Cobra is awesome looking, but I'm going to wait until he is on clearance since he is going to peg warm. The Serpent Society just aren't popular around here. Stores still have Cottonmouth.

A friend of mine was at my local target and got three cases of the new Spidey wave for the sale price of $9.99. I was kind of hoping he would offer me one of the cases but it seems he has unfortunately turned into a little bit of a scalper who I’m kind of now having a fight with. Maybe I’ll get lucky at another target locally and find them. But I can understand the store not putting them out until the sale is over.

Anyone know if Toyfair starts today, or tomorrow?

"Fun isn't something that one considers when balancing the universe...
...But this... ...does put a smile on my face..." So I mentioned yesterday that Infinity Gauntlet for the new Thanos BAF was removable as it was a separately sculpted piece, and as you can see, if you're willing to put a little bit of simple work to it, can very easily be customized to fit the older Thanos BAF. All it took was a little bit of shaving with an exacto knife, and some sanding with a dremel if you want to fine tune it. In addition, I can swap it back to the MCU Thanos figure should I choose to complete that figure later on down the line. I have no attachment to either costume, so Hasbro can keep their crappy Walmart exclusive. This is a pretty simple mod to do regardless of your skill level, and anyone out there who picks up King Cobra with the BAF piece should go for it. Save yourself some dough and get more play for your buck! |

Nice mod! I'm gonna be gunning for the Walmart version myself (the brighter blue paint job and alternate head help seal the deal for me, as does not having to track down all the pieces and/or a completed Thanos), but given the large amount of people planning on adding King Cobra to their ranks, this is a handy little option!
After the time, effort, and money I put into building the previous Thanos figure, there was no way I was going to let Hasbro sucker me in with a slightly different version of the same figure with accessory differences, especially when there were doable alternatives out there. The nice part is that the MCU Gauntlet is nicely styled and sculpted, but it's not so overdone that it looks out of place with the comic version of the figure. I always see people complaining about things on their figures that are really simple fixes here on the threads, and I just wanted to post a mod that literally anyone can do. I'm no pro, but I've made all kinds of alterations to my figures over the years that have really allowed me to enjoy them much more, without having to bow down to Hasbro's shortcomings. It doesn't take a terrible amount of talent...all you have to do is not be afraid of screwing up. Play on brothers! Last edited by Trivial Psychic; 02-15-2018 at 10:24 AM.. |

Obviously take this with a grain of salt, but the Instagrammer who had the original 10 Years photos said that Sif is coming in a two-pack with Thor (I am assuming a repaint of the Amazon box set Thor with a new head).

I'll make it no secret...I HATED the Udon Taskmaster. Not because it was a design unfamiliar to me, but more because of the design choices of the figure, with both the body, and the accessories. No pistols, no trigger fingers, Baron Zemo's holsters (complete with engraved "Z" on the side, the lightsaber weapon, and an overall strange body sculpt that had a lot of innovations (especially in the ankles) but made the figure clunky and not all that fun to play with in hand.
The new Taskmaster rectifies that itch for me, as it's the classic design that we love, with reused parts that make sense (we have all seen the shield, pistol and sword before, most of them with Zemo.) |

First off, sorry for the piss poor pictures. I desperately need to upgrade my lighting.
So I picked up Taskmaster and King Cobra through my LCS today for a fairly good price (about 24 dollars after taxes) and I have to say that while both have their issues, these are fairly good, and I'm glad to finally have them. The new Taskmaster rectifies that itch for me, as it's the classic design that we love, with reused parts that make sense (we have all seen the shield, pistol and sword before, most of them with Zemo.) He uses the Bucky Cap mold, and he has a trigger finger hand for holding the pistol. There are some QC issues though. For some reason, the cape on mine is long. Really long. When plugged into the back, it's actually goes past his feet, meaning you may have to remove the cape, or let it rest loose on his shoulders when posing him. (EDIT: the cape issue is so bad, I ended up cutting off about half an inch of it after this review to fix it.) Also, the gauntlets were assembled backwards on mine, and since I was unable to correct them by spinning (I HATE white paint on figures) I had to head up the wrists and forearms to get them set correctly. Also, you'll want to check the gauntlets themselves for paint splotches, the right gauntlet on mine had orange dots all over them, which I was able to remove with an exacto knife and some TLC. The shield can be plugged into the back for storage, but not while the figure is wearing the cape, so you'll have to pick your poison there. Also letting you know, the skull head from the Udon Taskmaster DOES NOT fit on the new one, but can be easily dremeled to fit. I have included a pic of how it would look should you decide to perform surgery to it. Also, the hands from Bullseye match up perfectly in terms of plastic color, but you'll also need to customize the new TM's hands so that they can be easily removed. I may do this though, as I can imagine the kunai throwing effect would look great with him. As for King Cobra, he's also a perfect example of body reuse done right. The head sculpt is awesome, and the cape plugs nicely into his back. The green tones are a bit richer and more metallic than Green Goblin's, and the stinger/venom bracelets are well sculpted. I honestly have no complaints, and this has been one of the few figures I've got out of the box with no QC issues from Hasbro in a while. Also, for those wondering, the Infinity Gauntlet on the Thanos BAF piece IS NOT sculpted to the arm. The hand pops off easily enough, and the bracer part of the gauntlet can be slid off of the purple arm with a little bit of work. Now to see if it can actually be worked onto the original Thanos BAF... |

Looking at the Taskmaster side-by-sides reminds me, when is Hasbro gonna make a Secret Wars Doom out of those arms and legs that Cartoon/Udon Tasky has there?

It would seem like a no-brainer wouldn't it? As much as everyone has complaints about getting the perfect Magneto, I very much feel that way about Doom. I think I have three or four versions of him and am not happy with any of them.
