With someone like the core Fantastic Four, Silver Surfer and Doctor Doom, those are an easy sell to a retailer because of their popularity and name recognition. And even characters like Super-Skrull, Medusa and Ant-Man had the benefit of movie or TV love on their side. Now something I could see Walgreens going for are versions of iconic characters who we likely aren't getting anytime soon. Maybe the new classic Thor and Loki everyone has been asking for. |

Regarding the F4 ML, I am all for some villains and supporting cast once the Thing, Super Skrull and Silver Surfer come out. You know Doom is inevitable at some point. Personally would love to see The Wizard in this, and if there's more Inhumans, Maximus the Mad. Though I wouldn't mind Red Ghost, Lyra, Malice, Dragon Man, Arkon, Attuma, Rama-Tut, Franklin, Valaria, etc. The only one I wouldn't want to see is Puppet Master. He freaks me the frack out. He's Marvel's creepiest looking character and I can't read any story with him in it.

Well, we finally got moved in. I still need to get the rest of my entertainment system out of storage, but here’s the space I’m working with in the man-cave. Hopefully I can get some figures setup in the next few days.

I didn't say they're bad characters, I said they're characters who probably wouldn't move a lot of units and who I can't see Walgreens being interested in. Severe pegwarmers are probably fine when it's part of an overall wave (I can still find Beetle III, Eel, Cottonmouth, Machine Man and Morbius at stores near me), but it's not something I think Walgreens would be all that jazzed about ordering.
With someone like the core Fantastic Four, Silver Surfer and Doctor Doom, those are an easy sell to a retailer because of their popularity and name recognition. And even characters like Super-Skrull, Medusa and Ant-Man had the benefit of movie or TV love on their side. While someone may not immediately recognize Agent Venom, 1st Appearance Daredevil, or Eric O'Grady, the names Venom, Daredevil, and Ant-Man are recognizable enough to draw potential customers in. Namor, Punisher, and Silver Surfer are known standalone characters with strong ties to higher-profile titles and properties. Medusa gets a boost due to the Inhumans having had a push in both the comics and TV shows, along with her ties to the Fantastic Four. Even the Super Skrull has some recognition outside of his ties to the FF and the use of Skrulls in the upcoming Captain Marvel film, as Super Skrull received exposure thanks to Marvel vs. Capcom 3 making him a playable character (who had mid-tier rankings in the competitive fighting game community, making him a not-uncommon sight on that circuit). A character like Diablo (not El Diablo, he's DC ) might be able to hit the mark, due to having a striking and very toy-friendly character design, but even a lorehound like myself would be hard-pressed to pick up "muscled shirtless pharaoh dude" or "creepy bald guy in a clay-stained smock" without specifically wanting Rama-Tut or Puppet Master. Even Diablo would likely have to be called out differently on the package as a retail release. Don't want the Concerned Mothers of America railing against Hasbro for releasing a 'Devil' figure. There's still a wealth of characters that could be done and would likely do well on the shelves. The Wizard, Psycho Man, and Kang the Conqueror are all high profile and/or toyetic villains, and even characters like Paste Pot Pete/Trapster or Mole Man could gain some footing, having appeared in numerous adaptations (and in the case of Pete, filling out the Frightful Four founding members with Wizard). She-Hulk, Crystal, Sharon Ventura, Nova (Frankie Raye), and Namorita share those same attributes, with She-Hulk and Crystal having plenty of face recognition outside of the FF for them to be good candidates. And that's not even scratching the surface. I think it would be great if Hasbro went deep into the mines for their figures more, but when it comes to Walgreens exclusives, they're likely to play it safer. Hell, you can still find Ant-Man, Daredevil, and Namor at many stores, so even playing it safe, they still run the risk of making a low-seller.

Thanks. On & off, about 6 months give or take. I hate taking pics of my figs with a kitchen table as the background or in front of a PC.

Anyone here attempt to do a giant man custom with the captain america 12" figure? Seems like it would be a pretty cool project.

This video has been making the rounds around other sites. Shows some close-up shots of the MCU figs (Thor and Cull Obsidian in the middle of the video. Widow, Ant-man, and Wasp at the end.) from the second Infinity War wave.

Yeah, makes no sense to pay that price when Walgreens exclusives are pretty much always incredibly easy to find.

While I never endorse scalping, it saddens me that people allow it to happen by paying insane amounts for toys :P I get the "gotta have it first" mentality but I could never do it

Except that dude isn't scalping the figure. He's letting the market set the price for him. Not like he set the auction at a 100 dollar buy it now....
Remember, anything in life is only worth what you are willing to pay for it. A lot of the high bidders are most likely YouTube reviewers trying to be the first out the gate with a review, especially if their channel is set up to help pay their bills. Having something prompt like that really can help out in the long run, because once the bigger named reviewers get their hands on it, their advantage (as well as their revenue stream) is more likely to drop significantly. It's one of the reasons why I never created my own review channel. I just don't have the desire (or the funds) to compete with those guys. |

Ugh. Only reason I will ever pay more than retail for a brand-new release is if it's some highly-anticipated release that I really doubt I'll find in the wild.
And even then, it's only about five, maybe ten above retail, and I'll still be buying it from my local guy. But I'm with Triv. I've considered doing video reviews occasionally, but I would not have the desire or energy to try and be competitive like that.

You want to talk about crazy prices, go look up that Infinity War 3 pack with Thor, Rocket and Teen Groot. Those prices are NUTS!
Anyway, wanted to share some more pics inspired by 2 of my favorite MCU movies, Captain America: The Winter Solider and Guardians of the Galaxy! |
