I've said it before, and I'll say it again...if you love your figures, get yourself a dremel and a couple of big ball diamond cutter bits in various sizes. You will never have an issue getting a headswap to fit properly ever again. You can also fix "lollipop" heads in a jif. (More on that in a bit.) My Demogoblin wave arrived today courtesy of Dorkside Toys, and despite my reservations with the lineup, it turned out to be a decent wave. Here's a couple of thoughts. Super Sentai Spideys (Velocity and MK.3 Spider Man): Easily the weakest figures of the wave for me, as I have no attachment to the game as I've never played it, but both of these figures have sculpts that are really well done, with some surprisingly crisp paint apps...especially on Velocity Spidey. The new web effects are the star with these two, and thank goodness they were included as these figures have no spare hands to speak of, and since the hands themselves are unique sculpts, it means you are doomed to have one fisted hand...and one thwipping hand. Forever. Those missing options kill what are otherwise two decent Spidey figures that work great in a Spider-verse set up, although I would have rather seen the Diamond Web and comic Iron Spider done over these two. Good for fans of the game though. Shang Chi and White Rabbit: These two show just how good Legends figures can turn out if you use a mix of old parts with new. I know nothing about either of the characters, but I know that they are a ton of fun to play with for different reasons. Shang Chi clearly got the hand budget that the Sentai Spideys did not, and as a result, really increases his versatility, thanks to his articulation. Just be careful with the shoulders and feet...the shoulder joints need to be turned into a strappado position before raising 90 degrees, otherwise the top of the shoulder will catch the torso, which can damage the figure. If you turn it though, and then raise, you can rotate the arm back into just about any position you like. The feet have heavy ratchets in them, which make moving them a bit scary. Heat them up first before attempting to move them. On a curious note...I wonder why Hasbro opted for NO pegholes on the bottom of them? White Rabbit also shows great reuse of old and new, with her rocking M'baku's fuzzy boots along with a nice retool of Typhoid Mary's corset. Unfortunately, the watch piece is glued to the torso, so if you were hoping for an easy White Queen custom, you may damage the sculpt removing it. The umbrella gun fits okay in her hand, but the figure lacks the roll of the dice swivel to make her hold it more effectively. The burst fire piece at the end of it is also removable, giving us another nice accessory to use with our Legends firearm (you can also use it with your Transformers Siege figures.) The figure has a lollipop head though...if you have a dremel, I recommend drilling the headsculpt cavity a little deeper, as it sits rather high on the neck. I also recommend sliding the bow tie down behind the jacket and further down the neck, as it keeps it out of the way. Fun figure though (and a gorgeous one at that!) Vulture and Superior Octopus: The obvious winners of the wave. While I still love my Toybiz Vulture, this one is a nice, modern update with some parts that we'll no doubt be seeing again soon (Falcon anyone?) I love the choice of body (Pizza Spidey) and while the hands feel a bit large, they fit perfectly with the creepy old dude motif Vulture has. I should also mention, that the Tombs heads work on both the MCU figure, and the Ultimate version of the character that we received a while back, and the helmet from that Ultimate version works on this one, if that's a look you'd like to give a try. Once you get past the pre-posed tentacles, Superior Ock is pretty damn awesome. I really dig this costume as well as the color choices, and the Sunfire body just rocks. Since it's the Sunfire body though, excercise care moving the arms, as like with Shang Chi and countless other figures before it, it can get caught on the butterfly joint and scratch the paint deco on the ball on the shoulder. Other than that, my only major gripe is with the tentacles themselves, not because they don't pose, but because they fall out of the pack super easy. I may end up resorting to gluing them in. The Peter Parker heads from figures past do with work with Superior Ock as well. Awesome figure, and he'll look great next to Hydra Supreme. |

And now...the BAF...
Demogoblin: Another remake that I didn't think I needed, but I'm really glad to have him, as the old one was just too big by today's standards. Not much to say here...it's the Hobgoblin/Green Goblin body with a new headsculpt, hands and belt. The headsculpt though is awesome, as is the new glider. I really wish Hasbro had given us similar sized gliders for the previous Goblin figures, as this thing is a hoss compared to the tiny toys the other Goblins are flying around town on. I know people are griping about Demogoblin not being a deluxe figure, but honestly, I've always viewed BAFs as a bonus figure, regardless of size. As long as they are not Rocket Racoon sized, I'm good with getting a standard sized character we might not have received normally. Plus...we have another member of Team Carnage. Hopefully we get Shriek and Carrion in the near future! On a final note, I might end up picking up another White Rabbit just for the glider, since it looks pretty good with Red Goblin, whose glider has a similar design and was conspicuously absent from that figure's release. |

Actually this armored Spidey comes from the comics, this was the suit he created to counter the Sinister Six during the Ends of the Earth story. It is an unlockable suit in the game but the decision to package it as a "gamerverse" figure is overall odd.

Both MCU Spider-Man films have been utterly phenomenal in my book. They are finally giving me the Peter Parker Stan Lee wrote rather than some cool emo kid. Mysterio and Vulture have also been the best villains since Norman in the first Raimi movie. I found Venom to be boring. It wasn't a bad movie, just not all that exciting.

Finally took the bait and picked up the exclusive Binary Captain Marvel. The figure is really nice in-hand, but I pretty much just bought it to kitbash a Magma stand-in with my extra Dani that's just been sitting around. Still crossing my fingers for an official fiery release, but I'm really not positive that she's near the top of Hasbro's to-do list.

I picked up Binary Carol back in October for $14 because my store only had one left at that price. That figure was a total no-show for months and then they got like 18 or something at once and I figured they'd clog until they hit clearance since they were so late but sure enough they moved pretty damn well so I never had the opportunity to wait for anything less than $10.
Edit: I just checked Pulse and it says my Doom pre-order is paid and his item page says he's in stock.

I know that feeling. That happened to my Goldar PR preorder last year. I ended up finding him in Tuscon and canceled my preorder at the local store when I got back home.

Worse yet...I was unable to cancel one of the items cause it shipped, meaning I have to take it back to the physical store for a return, whenever it arrives. Ugh. |

FF4 and Spidy wave just hit my Target and I expect walmart in the next day or two. They both just finished their resets, and Target stocked where Wal-Mart has not.

I don't agree at all.

Venom, while no masterpiece, I think is equal to the Antman flicks. It's not "high art" but it's just plain fun. Tom Hardy really deals with the two personalities well. It reminds me of the Toxin miniseries. Venom 2 is the only comic book film I'm looking forward to this year.

Different strokes for different folks. I find the Sony/MCU Spidey films to be atrocious. I love Spidey in the MCU ensemble films, but Homecoming and FFH were just dumb. Not even fun dumb. FFH was bad enough that I passed on buying it upon home video release... a first! Even Thor 2 I bought on day one!

I didn’t like anything about it. Didn’t like the awkward MJ/Peter love angst, peter’s “inheritance” of stark tech, Mysterio’s hologram costume, drones using machine guns to “punch”... the whole movie left a bad taste in my mouth. The only Marvel movie I walked out feeling I wasted my time. It was cute seeing JK Simmons again, but not enough.

Has anyone in the Chicago area seen the older Mr. Fantastic still sitting at a Walgreens? I decided I wanted it and now can't find it! Thanks!

So it appears Marvel is remaking God Loves Man Kills for some idiotic reason.
Maybe we can finally get our First Appearance Storm out of this? And hell, maybe even Sprite.

I would easily understand reprinting it because it's a classic but this is giving me "George Lucas special edition" vibes of needlessly touching on what's already great.

Guys. The story isn't changing. "God Loves, Man Kills" isn't being altered.
"Framed by a brand-new present day X-Men story by the original creative team themselves, Chris Claremont and Brent Anderson, Marvel is proud to re-present the beloved X-Men classic, GOD LOVES, MAN KILLS, in an all-new extended edition this April!" So there's just going to be an additional story, set in a different time period, that's not going to change the story itself. The amount of Chicken Little-ing ya see around here sometimes...

Looks like marvel is running outta ideas so they’re just re-booting-ish old ideas.
