No!! My anger is sincere I just think it’s such typical bullshit that it’s gained meta-drollness. Honestly this is like the Carlos Danger debacle of the toy universe for the year 2021. People on message boards will be able to refer to this blunder and the inept attempt at an explanation for years to come, similar to the way people are still complaining about Mattycollector and GI Joe subscriptions to this day.

Honestly, I'm just gonna get a second Omega Sentinel and find someone to repaint her head for me (my hands aren't steady enough for detail painting). Put the bald figure on my villain shelf and the one with hair on my hero shelf.
As is, I'm considering a third figure to try and customize to go full comic look though. Back rods and all. Last edited by Shinzero02; 04-15-2021 at 08:29 PM.. |

The makers of the replica Deloreans don't need to know every detail of John Delorean's backstory and the story behind the cars, but you can be damn sure people would be pissed if they came off the line hot pink and with standard doors. Every job involves legwork, and your excuse is just alleviating them of any responsibility
Edit: had a better analogy The Legends team didn't need to know Omega Sentinel's story to make a figure of her Powers of X appearance. They found artwork from the story and used in to make the figure in the Tri-Sentinel wave. They did a good job because the details on the figure match the artwork in Powers of X. As for the alternate head, they appear to have used the artwork that I posted from House of M. It shows a version of Omega Sentinel with dark brown hair and a warm skin tone. The deco is slightly off but it's still a woman with a metal face, brown hair, and a flesh tone chin. As for the responsibility the Legends team or Hasbro needs to take? Give me a break. Marvel's own artists can't seem to agree on her race and they've had over 20 years to do it. They have a better handle on how her powers and costume should appear than her race. They even approved the design of the Marvel Legends figure. The Legends team is currently trying to bring a $350 per unit crowd funded project to fruition, deal with a movie studio who's security is tighter than the federal government's, while producing more Marvel Legends figures than all other Hasbro brands produce of their own respective figures. And they're dealing with all of that during a pandemic. Yet they need to take responsibility for a mistake with an alternate head of a character that's largely remained in obscure status since 2000? Like I said, give me a break. If their mistake has to be pointed out to us after 5 months, then the Legends team deserves a little slack. |

My bust, I should have put a wink in there as I was being playful. Yeah, it's a mistake that could have been avoided by Hasbro, but in the big picture I think this is exactly the sort of thing that happens when Marvel itself doesn't have a handle on consistently portraying ethnically diverse characters. There has been an appreciable variance in the complexion of the Omega Sentinel from one creative team to the next and we know this has been a common occurrence with other characters throughout the years. As for Hasbro's level of effort, I mentioned the other day that I don't need the team to sell me on their investment in the books. Nor do I need them to sell me on their investment in me as a fan. That effort would be much better spent by connecting with a liaison at Marvel (and/or personal consultant in-the-know) to avoid bowler-Hyde or offending the sensibilities of Karima fans with flubs like these. |

Don't they decide these production things like 2/3 years in advance? So they would have googled that Omega Sentinel lady back in 2019ish when the storyline had just come out... so I guess there would have been less info on her back then.
There should definitely be some kind of liaison though whose only job is to know comic stuff. Like when Brian Singer did his X-men movies I remember reading somewhere that he hired this comic book guy to just follow him everywhere and just answer any X-men questions he had... the studio didn't even know about him. |

Edit: had a better analogy Well said & 100% correct! It is their job to do extensive research on any character that is green lit to get a figure. They are being paid to make action figures of charatcers based on Marvel comics & therefore should be reading any all comics related to that character & looking at as many drawings/renderings of that character as well so they know which is the most iconic or fan favored look of that character. Hardly anyone asked for "Man Bun" Herc but that's what they went with. Same with Hyde, majority of Hyde fans wanted the classic 80s Masters of version of Hyde as drawn by Buscema, not giant meth head looking lucky charms monster version. They googled 1 pic of a character & went with that? Supremely lazy on their part. If it was truly their decision to go with that Hyde & some other non Marvel comic fan who doesn't know who the heck Hyde is, approved it, they all cost Hasbro a s%$# of $ cuz from what I've read on this forum & many others, not many people are buying this entire wave, which from the get go is not that exciting looking to begin with. A classic Buscema Hyde was the only reason I would have bought the entire wave for & then make some of my $$ back by selling off all the figs in the wave minus Hyde. Oh well, thanks for saving me $$ Hasbro. |

Its still not as bad as X-23's ethnicity roulette in comic and figure incarnations. Poor girl hops between Asian, Hispanic, and Caucasian depending on the artist/sculpt. Kinda weird she got imported to comics without her darker skin tone from X-men Evolution. She's so varied that her 2005 Toybiz figure has 2 variations that have totally different headsculpts and skin tones |

The last few pages are because they got Omega Sentinel's skin tone and hair color wrong on her alternate head. With the signs pointing to them probably researching the character's most recent appearance for the main 'red' head and going with a so-so comic panel with incorrect coloring for inspiration on the alternate. Her hair should be black and her skin tone should be darker.

Whatever- its a House of X figure, and they nailed her look in that comic series. Maybe instead of the alternate head they should've chosen to include an effect piece for one of her guns instead (from what i've heard black series lightsabers work pretty well). But the lesson they will likely draw from all the complaints is, next time don't bother with an alternate head at all.
as far as the complaints about Hyde, obviously they went with his Thunderbolts look (which he also sports in the Avengers Alliance videogame), which isn't exactly new as it debuted in 2006 iirc. Maybe they'll throw in a classic hyde head whenever they get around to re-releasing Joe Fixit; alternatively, i'm sure some caster will be selling classic versions of the head on ebay in the near future. You're probably on your own as far as the cape goes, though. |

I'm about to be aggressive with the probability that we aren't going to get an updated comic Mandarin.

I am going to lose my mind in fury if the Dr. Strange movie wave doesn't include a classic comic version. I assume that is what they are saving it for. With the ML team though, they might just do their "research" via google and give us this piece of crap as the classic "comic" version. |

Mandarin on the other hand is getting a complete make over and name change in the MCU. They may consider the classic Mandarin persona to be a bit embarrassing of a sterotype they wish to move away from. And I get that, but the history of the character still remains, and, for our purposes, the existing TB Mandarin is sorely in need of an update - maybe not to what the Deathstrike/Rogue TB versions levels, but pretty damened close. Unfortunately with no rumors/leaks or anything about a comic Mandarin, and the new look and name change, I do not see it happening. Which will mean, he'll probably be my #1 most wanted figure in a couple of more years. |

I hope we don't have to wait until the next Dr. Strange movie for classic comic Strange to come out. Doesn't Dr. Strange appear in the next MCU Spider-man movie? Maybe Hasbro can release classic Strange for that movie.

I want a John Byrne based She-Hulk. That was a fun series for its time.
As for Dr. Strange, I'm VERY surprised we have not gotten one in his classic duds!! |

I'm pretty sure a classic Dormammu means we are getting one sooner rather than later.
We also totally need a new Madame Hydra asap!!!

Hell yes. She was also my favorite superheroine due to those comics. Squirrel is #2 by the way. Thanks more than anything to the GLA who I also have an undying passion for. And it really is weird, bizarre, peculiar, unusual, out of the ordinary, perplexing, baffling, dubious that Dr. Strange has not had a Classic costume release from Hasbro yet.

A John Byrne based She-Hulk would be great. I'm hoping the Retro Fantastic Four figures are Byrne based too. And I know I write this a lot, but I'd still love to see a John Byrne based "scaly-chainmail" Captain America with an alternate smiling head and his round and triangular shields. The Roger Stern/John Byrne run on Captain America is one of my all-time favorites for Cap.
Also, Alfred Molina confirmed to Variety he will be returning as the Raimiverse version of Doctor Otto Octavius/Doctor Octopus for "Spider-Man: No Way Home" and will be de-aged digitally for at least some of his scenes as it picks up where his final scene in "Spider-Man 2" left off. I assume we'll see Molina's Ock as one of the second wave of the Marvel Legends Spider-Man figures this fall. |
