Yeah, Parker as Stark is just... bad. Miles is just being written really really well- even inside the mess that is Civil War II. I only judge them by their current story- not what I've heard is "going" to happen- so I'll have to wait until Miles and Gwen actually become something before I can have an opinion on how well it worked. I imagine more de-aging Gwen or it being built around hooking up with an older woman that won't work out in the end... i mean, Miles has girls already that will still be involved in his life (Ms.Marvel) So a thing with Gwen just sounds like a story choice (like Hydra Cap- it's just a story, not the end all of who Cap forever in the MU-and it's not been bad so far (...but not great either) Honestly, Marvel has mostly lost me as a reader- I went from reading almost everything prior to Secret War to just Falcon Cap, (hate the politics of Marvel and that one really bashes you over the head with it- but i love the character and think the Cap costume they came up with is great) Captain America, the Miles Spiderman book, and Old Man Logan ... I read a bit of the rest of Marvel just to see what's happening but it's really tough to get through a single issue (Unworthy Thor just started and seems to be pretty good so far)

...but i have heard a few people say the new Clone Saga for Parker has been good. When it hits tpb size I'llat least give it a go. I really want to be able to enjoy Marvel comics-i love the characters and have for 40yrs- but today's Marvel is just not being written for me. I think DC -since dumping New52 for Rebirth- has been doing a better job at keeping me as a reader and still being accessable for the millenial crowd.

Marvel has full on neutered the punisher in the last 20 years. Sad as he was one of my favorite viglantes.

That would be a Great Match up Red Hood Vs. Punisher.

I'm not disagreeing with this notion as the return to high school was one of the reasons that I enjoyed reading Ultimate Spider-Man so much when the comic series initially debuted and had its very strong run during its first two or three years. However a lot of what makes Spider-Man so popular also stems from the fact that he is an every man, a guy who struggles with paying his rent, a boss he cannot stand, and relationships with friends and lovers that he cares about, often get in the way of crime-fighting duties.
Some of Peter's best stories come from his high school years, but many of them (along with his villians) also come out of his adult life as well. For example, one of the characters that I have always wanted to see interact with Spidey on the big screen has been Black Cat, due to the sexual tension between the two as well as the strain it puts on Peter's relationship with Mary Jane, but we will never see that if we keep going back to high school. We have already had 5 Spider-Man films so far, with two of them (3 if you count the brief amount of time they were in school in Amazing Spider-Man 2) and it would be nice to see Peter get on with his adult life already. High school was cool, but the best is still yet to come. BTW I don't need sexual tension in my Spider-Man. If I wanted sexual tension, I'd watch a porno. However, The Spectacular Spider-Man did perfectly fine with Black Cat even though Peter was a high school student, so they could do it fine here if they wanted to.

I'm a little disappointed in the GotG wave, I thought at least one of them would be Gamora. I do not like that there will be two waves in a row with only one female character in, especially since it seemed to be trending the other way. Particularly since the reverse would never happen. I like the BAF and I want Nova and Angela but I'm kind of regretting ordering the whole wave.
I have no particular opinions on Vulture, I'm not that interested in Peter Parker Spider-man so any comic figures in that wave I want I'll probably just pick up separately.

Yes, but you have to look at the context of this universe. He would have to have been Spider-Man for several years now to be able to do him in college, but there was clearly no Spider-Man in that universe until now. If there was, he would have been heard of long before The Avengers.
BTW I don't need sexual tension in my Spider-Man. If I wanted sexual tension, I'd watch a porno. However, The Spectacular Spider-Man did perfectly fine with Black Cat even though Peter was a high school student, so they could do it fine here if they wanted to. I kid...I kid... I get the context and all that about fitting Spider-Man into the current MCU as a teenager, however, there are other ways that it could have been brought about to bring him in as a young, college attending man as well, but for whatever reason (most likely the ones that Blue Marvel so eloquently stated earlier...) they decided to go with Spidey back in high school...and frankly, I'm just kind of over seeing Spider-Man running from bullies who give him atomic wedgies and gives puppy dog eyes to girls who barely notice him. As for the sexual tension comments...I'm not asking for a "50 Shades of Spidey" flick...but some of the more entertaining issues of Spider-Man have always been ones where he struggles with the moralities that come with being desirable but monogamous. Whether it be Felicia Hardy, Gwen Stacy, Liz Allen, Mary Jane, or more recently Cindy Moon or Carlie Cooper, the adult Spider-Man has had a great cast of lovely ladies in his life, and it's hard to do any of those storylines or characters when Hollywood refuses to let Spider-Man be anything other than a hipster teenager with attitude or a booger eating science nerd the girls are embarrassed to be around. It's only a minor aspect of his character yes, but just like so many people are tired of seeing Batman's origin in his films, I'm just tired of seeing Peter Parker grow up time and time again. I tend to keep the film and comic universes separate when I watch them (it will improve your overall enjoyment of things if most people just would remember to do this) but after so many resets by Hollywood, you end up starting to lose your emotional investment over time. Yeah, but how old was Black Cat in The Spectacular Spider-Man cartoon? Was she actually an adult, or was she (at least subtly/vaguely) aged down?

They played the on and off sexual tension by saying that she mistook Spider-Man for being a male of age, only to have her become grossed out when he revealed he was still a teenager. Yeah...creepy. |

Wait wasn't that the Ultimate Spider-Man comics? She never found out who he was in Spectacular Spider-Man and I'm pretty sure she was closer to Peter's age in the show.

Been a very long time since I have seen Spectacular Spider-Man, though I didn't pay it much mind when it released despite the glowing reviews as I just couldn't get past the art style of the show. Been a long night...lol. |

No biggie. The show's style took some getting used to but it was a damn good show. Think I liked Wolverine and the X-Men a bit more though.

That's not what I consider sexual tension. I consider those romantic interests. Sexual tension to me is what DC did with Bruce during the New 52 and had him screw a woman in the first issues of each of the comics he was featured in James Bond-style.

Sexual Tension between characters is part of what makes endearing, dramatic storytelling. There are lots of great stories with Sexual Tension between Lois Lane and Clark Kent, Peter Parker and Black Cat, Batman and Catwoman and Jean Grey, Scott and Logan just to name a few. It adds a whole new dynamic to a story. Sex can also be character building. Early on in Mark Waid's run on Daredevil, Matt Murdock would have an occasional hook up to help illustrate and cement his new outlook on life. Taking joy in being a hero, going on crazy adventures, getting involved with dangerous women and general thrill-seeking were major parts of the character just like James Bond or Indiana Jones. Having a one night stand with Black Cat after going on a romp is exactly what a character like Matt Murdock would do. That's not to say I want to see hard core sex in my comics, but I definitely don't want my superhero comics to have characters who are sexless and sterile like the Jedi Knights from the Prequel Trilogy. That would be super boring.
