Flash is played by Tony Revolori, or as you would probably put it, "a skinny Latino kid", and Ned Leeds (aka, Peter's co-worker at the Daily Bugle in the comics, and one of the people that Roderick Kingsley got as a patsy to take the fall as Hobgoblin instead of being caught himself) is played by Jacob Batalon, or as you described him, "a fat Asian kid". Eddie Brock is not in the movie.
Looks kinda like Tommy Wiseau.

I knew it was someone they changed. I wish they hadnt changed flash though....especially since he was my favorite venom, i love brock as toxin more than i did as venom. Id like to see either the dude who played yanto on torch wood or david morrisey play roderick kingsley.

Yah but i does still happen. Maybe flash coulda been a "smart jock"? Haha. Total oxymoron like military intelligence or honest politician. i dont really care about ned but flash bugs me...especially since maybe we might one day get to see agent venom onscreen...of course by then flash will have been retconned into an asexual spiritual alien or something haha

Just to give you an idea of the insane things Sony had planned for the Spider-Man franchise before Marvel took over, they actually mentioned (in one of their leaked email exchanges) that Jared Leto would make a fantastic Felicia Hardy (did they want Black Cat to be transgendered?...WTF?) and that Denzel Washington, Will Smith, and George Clooney should be kept in mind for the role of Dr. Octopus, as well as Channing Tatum, who was already their front runner for Venom. Fantastic actors...but none of them are Doc Ock...

Here's the problem though, without Spidey, Venom is not a strong enough character to carry out his own narratives. Wolverine and Deadpool are. I'm an admittedly biased Venom fan, but even I believe that to be the case. There are years and years of cancelled books and poorly written miniseries that support this. You will be hard pressed to find any Venom story arc that was entertaining on its own merits without Spider-Man being involved. And before anyone says "Maximum Carnage" as a standalone Venom flick, remember that by the time that ran it's course, Venom had teamed up with Spidey and several other street level heroes, as well as members of the Avengers. Carnage is a certifiable A-Lister villian, and it would have to be a two or three film act honestly. Some creepy CGI and some blood splattering on the walls simply wouldn't cut it (and I am not a Carnage fan...just recognizing the truths.) Trying to tie it up all neatly in one film WILL give you another Spiderman 3, or something far worse...just bloodier or more violent. That's not to say that it's not possible to do a good Venom flick. I saw a fan film a few years back by Adi Shankar (who directed the fan films for the Punisher featuring Thomas Jane called "Dirty Laundry, as well as the controversial Power Rangers re-imagining a few years back,) called "Truth in Journalism," which told the story of newly-merged with-the-symbiote Eddie Brock working with some film students on a journalism documentary, as he plotted his revenge on Spidey and struggles with the voices in his head as well as the Symbiote's murderous influences. It featured some nice nods to events in the books, while keeping true to the character and telling an interesting story of the descent into Brock's psychosis as he struggles to keep his old life and new life in balance. Would I see that movie in theatres? Bet your ass I would. Here's the link if anyone is interested... https://youtu.be/7YDYL6oECjU E-zine Dorkly also recently put out a story about the leaked Sony emails, as well as future Spider-Man and Venom ideas they were pitching before the Marvel agreement, which can be checked out here for those of you who have the interest. Pretty much the gist of the leaked emails are posted there... 6 Bizarre, Forgotten Revelations From The Andrew Garfield Spider-Man Movies - Dorkly Post |

This is where the rhetoric from the producer in the recent interview left me concerned. He mentioned Deadpool and Logan as great characters who pulled off great stories and spin-off films without resorting to relying on cameo appearances or even a running narrative featuring other characters. Here's the problem though, without Spidey, Venom is not a strong enough character to carry out his own narratives. Wolverine and Deadpool are. I too saw Truth In Journalism and I'm just not sure.

And even though I don't like Colossus's outfit I would get it just for the bearded head and hope they make a classic Colossus later on... he looks cool with the beard... never even knew he had that look before. |

In addition, I've seen some of the emails that Sony was passing back and forward regarding the direction of the ASM franchise and Venom thanks to that Sony Films leak a while back, and some of the ideas for Venom regarding casting and story were AWFUL (does anyone really want Channing Tatum to play Venom, because Sony did, and Channing was pushing for it...)

Maybe get him stuck in a film series with uwe boll. He did do a good job in the dilemma...though he just played himself.....a talentless d-bag.

Tatum is just one of those guys, who is only good for those teen love story movies, or something american pieish. just a bunch of teens or 20 something year olds going out on a road trip... while i would have just dealt with him being gambit, i would not tolerate him playing Eddie brock.

Only Alfred Molina gets to be Doc Ock, he nailed it. He fit the physicality and he successfully made the villain sympathetic which when you're dealing with a single movie is usually the way to go.
Molina is Doc Ock, Willem Dafoe is Green Goblin, and JK Simmons is the best damn J Jonah Jameson we are ever going to get.
