Somewhat off topic, but my wallet is enjoying this year so far. I was able to get the Stilt Man BAF without having to buy an entire wave of figures (I just wanted the Hand Ninjas), classic Thanos, and Dark Surfer. I got the entire HoX/PoX wave, most of the villains wave and a few of the Marvel Monday figures on pre-order, but that's it so far. It's a far lighter year so far than in the past. I'm assuming that Hasbro is waiting for April to announce the Disney+ TV show figures, which I think I'll be able to skip out on. Eventually that rumored/leaked Eternals wave will get listed and I'll skip that too. That saves me quite a bit of money! Regardless of how you collect, I hope you are enjoying 2021 thus far! Same here. I'm enjoying this year so far even though it'll likely be a lighter year. I'm going to be very picky on MCU stuff as I mentioned before. Honestly, at this point it's entirely possible I may only get one other full wave, that being the next X-Men themed wave. though depending on the choices possibly the F4 retro wave. Other than that I think it's just going to be bits and pieces of waves for me. Comic oriented aside from that I think the main thing I'm anticipating is the OG thunderbolt we'll probably get this year. We've gotten one the last three years so the chances are fairly decent - will it be Meteorite, Techno or Atlas - oh I guess it's possible I'll buy a wave if Atlas is the BAF, if I can't get him completed and loose from Dorkside.

On the other hand, there's not that many non-X-Men BAFs I'd be interested in either at this point. Atlas, Stegron and maybe Attuma if they did make him that way. Last edited by Captain Nash; 03-02-2021 at 10:04 AM.. |

On The Fwoosh, someone shared a post of an Instagram photo by Dwight Stall where he posted a picture of dozens of Superhero Squad figures. He teased that Hasbro made a lot of those S.H.S. figures and he wrote: "Even a couple figures here that have yet to get the Legends treatment. Gargoyle. Hepzibah. And Zzzax. Maybe a couple other too..."
Some fans are guessing that Hepzibah, not Tigra, could be the new Marvel Legends character figure made this year with a tail. I thought that Zzzax being name-dropped was cool, as a new figure of him would be a welcome addition to my limited Hulk collection. Other characters mentioned on The Fwoosh thread include Reptyl, Volcana, classic Titanium Man, classic Crimson Dynamo, and M.C.U. Whiplash. Lizard and Shocker are also in the photo (Shocker can be found next to Jean Grey in her green Phoenix outfit and Spider-Man at the upper bottom left of the photo, while Lizard is seen close-by at the upper bottom right next to classic Punisher and the Thing), so I assume the rumors of them being new Retro Spider-Man figures are true and may be confirmed soon? What do you guys think of Mr. Stall's photo/possible teases? |

I was also underwhelmed by the Marvel Monday figure set. Oh well. More money saved. And the spoiler figure from WandaVision was expected, like many of you are saying. Unfortunately, someone whipped up a custom before I had a chance to watch the episode on Friday and posted it on a Facebook toy group I'm part of. Props for working that fast, but I was bummed out that it was spoiled. I don't want to say too much, so I'll stop there.

I don't know if anyone else saw, but at The Fwoosh, user Tatooinesandworm reported that, for the second wave of Spider-Man figures this October, we're getting five M.C.U. figures, one comic book based figure, and one Gamerverse figure.
While I am not surprised, this is still very disappointing to me. After being blown away by the Retro Spider-Man wave last year, I am disappointed that the two main Spider-Man Marvel Legends waves this year are mostly movie-based. We already had 'Into The Spider-Verse' for wave one and now wave two is likely 'Spider-Man: No Way Home' dominated. Also, I am not a fan of the Gamerverse figure, so hearing that we're only getting three comic book based figures total from the main Spider-Man waves (Hand Ninja, Frog-Man and the T.B.A. comic figure of wave two) is very underwhelming. I am looking forward to seeing what the upcoming single Retro Spider-Man figures look like and I'm curious which 'Spider-Man: No Way Home' characters get made into figures. I assume we'll get Spider-Man, Alfred Molina's Doc Ock and Jamie Foxx's Electro as three of the five figures, but who knows? What do you guys think of the news? |

I’m certainly a little disappointed that the offerings this year aren’t to my taste, but I don’t begrudge it. MCU collectors got shafted last year, so it’s nice that this year makes up for that. Besides that, I’ll echo what other people on the forum have said about saving money. 2021 is shaping up to be a very light year for my Legends collection, and I’ve come to be fine with that. MSRP increases meant that I was probably going to cut back anyhow.

The No Way Home thing isn't shocking since there was zero chance they weren't gonna make a wave to tie into the film.

Spreading some good news... Hasbro Pulse has added a "Partner Exclusives" section to their website and currently has the Walmart RED Figures available. Hopefully this could spell greater availability of a slew of exclusives (in limited quantities) from ALL lines/retailers on Pulse.

@Ultra Seven - I know that M.C.U. collectors feel left out, and rightfully so. Covid put a wrench in everything. Black Widow's figures came out before the movie, the films for 'Eternals', 'Morbius' and 'Venom' sequel were pushed back again and again, and toylines that were planned were pushed back as a result. I am glad that M.C.U. collectors are catching up and that they have figures from movies AND the Disney+ series to look forward to. I just wish that, in Spider-Man's case, it wasn't just mostly movie-based for both of his 2021 waves, is all. The listings for wave two are:
F3018 – MCU Figure 7 Shale – 5010993844722 F3019 – MCU Figure 8 Sulfur – 5010993844739 F3021 – MCU Figure 9 Methane – 5010993844753 F3022 – MCU Figure 10 Manganese – 5010993844746 F3023 – MCU Figure 11 Lodine – 5010993844685 F3024 – Comic Figure 12 Sandstone – 5010993844708 F3025 – Gamerverse Figure 13 Sapphire – 5010993844692 Some are guessing the comic based figure might be Sandman or Sandstorm. I have no idea who the Gamerverse figure could be. Maybe a Spider-Man from the PS5 game with the new Peter Parker head? Or maybe Spider-Man from the Marvel's Avengers game? Someone else entirely? I'm also curious to see which figures are a part of the Retro Fantastic Four wave and if Classic X is a possible second Age of Apocalypse wave or a comic-book-based wave. I'm guessing it's the latter, based on Dan Yun's recent reply that he hopes they make more A.O.A. figures soon. So far, the Disney+ waves, Retro F.F., Classic X and the sold-separately Retro Spider-Man figures are the ones I'm most excited for and curious to see who makes the cut. The Gamerverse figure is almost certainly Miles Morales since I don't believe they did anything for that game yet.

@hasbroherofan - Good call, I can't believe I forgot about the Miles Morales Spider-Man game!
Given how big 'Spider-Man: No Way Home' is being hyped up to be, I could see some other characters from that movie get made into the first wave of Marvel Legends' Spider-Man figures for 2022. I just hope 2022 delivers more comic based Spider-Man figures than 2021 plans to. I also hope that classic Sandman gets a new figure sooner than later, though I hope Hasbro would do it on the current Retro Toy Biz packaging. I could see Sandstorm as the "Sandstone" comic based figure for wave two, since Hasbro like to make first-time figures of lesser-known characters. |

Speaking of Pulse and exclusives...the other day I decided to pull the trigger on some of the army-builder Legends. Specifically, I got a few Hydra goons and A.I.M. soldiers. They showed up today. The A.I.M. troops I got came out great. I dig 'em a lot. All my Hydra guys look like half-assed, knock-off, pirated trash. Last edited by tierneygreen; 03-02-2021 at 03:48 PM.. |

If hasbro were to make another Red Skull figure, this time in the same outfit as the toybiz figure, they should put the Hydra simple on his arm band for censorship reasons.

Did you see Dwight Stall's Superhero Squad post teasing possible Marvel Legends figures for characters like Hepzibah and Hulk villain Zzzax? What do you think of Zzzax possibly becoming the next Hulk character hinted at getting a new action figure? P.S. I do sincerely apologize again for my previous post/reply to your post about a Spider-Man 2099 figure. I honestly didn't mean to sound rude or condescending or anything and called you "buddy" only because I consider you and everyone else here a friend. I hope you're doing well and have a good night. |

Hasbro uses the word "classic" to mean comic-based, by the way. "Classic X" only ever meant an X-Men comic wave, which I realize is currently the only type of X-Men wave, but you'll see the word "classic" on the cardboard case that every all-comic wave comes in. It doesn't refer to any details about which characters or costumes are chosen for the wave.

I could see Hasbro doing that. After all, the upcoming Bring On The Bad Guys Red Skull figure does have the HYDRA logo on his accessory.

That's a lot of news and rumors to digest. I'll be the first to admit that I am worried about what will happen to the X-Men waves once a movie hits. There are still some holes that I would like to see filled from the 90's. I know that might not apply to everyone, but that's my main goal. I worry that we might start getting movie waves (when those movies eventually come out) in which the BAF might be comic based, with a comic character or 2 thrown in for good measure. I guess we'll wait and see. Otherwise, I'm really interested in some of these rumors. A Hepzibah would be great, especially if it leads to the rest of the Star Jammers!

Consider: 2021 - AOA wave 2 as rumored 2022: General wave and Deadpool/X-Force wave 2023: General wave and ?? - maybe a retro wave? 2024 - probably one General wave and then starting on the movie waves, IF the movies even came out this year. Edit - replaced "classic" with "general" since comic themed waves are now being referred to as classic. Last edited by Captain Nash; 03-03-2021 at 08:11 AM.. |
