This looks great. Any word on when series 2 of the Spider-Man line is going to start hitting stores?

Supposed to be soon, AFAIK, it's the wave right after the Ben Reilly Spiderman wave.

The same goes for the new Iron Man: Armored Avenger line. I assume that'll be hitting stores soon, though I haven't seen the final wave of the Iron Man 2 line whatsoever yet. |

My local Walmarts have stopped carrying the 3 3/4" Spiderman line (there's not even a space for them anymore) and my Toys R Us is backed up with the first couple of waves. I'm going to have to buy Venom online. And it looks like he'll be well worth it.

This looks to be bigger than your regular 3 3/4 figures. Do you guys think there is any chance this figure could go unnoticed in a 6 inch figure lineup? I love this sculpt, but I don't collect 3 3/4 figs.

Nah, definitely smaller than 6", it would look too small. The average Venom in the 6" lines is usually over 6" minimum.

It is part and parcel to the line. The good thing here is they have abandoned the "either or" approach to articulation in which you got knee joints or elbow joints but not both. As this line progresses Hasbro has upped the ante a bit and the figures, while still not at the MU or GI Joe level of articulation, is getting better. The Carnage figure was pretty good and a new Venom is appreciated with more articulation then last time (when the "either or" rule struck). Even Ben Reilly Spiderman was an improvement. Not perfect but improved. As such I can't see the Venom figure staying on the shelves long. You might think of it as a "fail" but I look at it more as an "average". In other words, I'll pick it up and if MU or even this line ever improve on it I will move it out of my rotation on the old shelf. This is completely the opposite of the "fail" that the entire first 2 waves (minus the Rhino, even though that was another "either or") made me think.

Not defending the new Venom. but which figures? GI Joe sure(and/or Visonaries, COPS, et al), but most others stateside, unless they were Microman or from Japan, were not as articulated as this upcoming Venom.

If I see him, I'll buy him.
I understand the frustrations about the articulation, but folks that worry too much about the lack of articulation are missing out on some awesome figures. I actually prefer the older Venom figures more as a 'classic' version of the character, but this version looks like it will make for some cool display opportunities. |

This venom's got a variant.
I just found it, it's a grey and purple version of mac garrgan's venom. Red eyes and all... Kinda sucks, I wanted the regular one! |

Is this out yet? I don't care about articulation as I only display them and would pick this up in a heartbeat if I found this at the store. I like the venom I picked up the other day but this one is a lot more menacing.

Yeah it's out, I picked it up at my local comic shop, but like I said, it's got a variant.

Has anyone seen that "Brock Venom" in the wild, yet? I have a feeling that they just had that as a prototype and just decided to mass produced the Gargan version instead. |

I think the "regular" figure is the "grey and purple" Gargan version. This figure has been released in our country (Philippines) since a month ago and all we have are the grey and purple ones. If there's really a variant, I think it's that no eyes, pure black Brock Venom.

DSC00363.jpg picture by rhugghed - Photobucket DSC00364.jpg picture by rhugghed - Photobucket Here's a video review. The reviewer is from the Philippines, too. He also got the grey and purple Gargan Venom: YouTube - stretch strike venom review Basically, all the people that I know who have the Venom fig has the same version. This is the reason why I believe that this Gargan Venom is the "standard" figure. I haven't seen the "Brock Venom" aside from the Hasbro prototype pics. This is really sad since I want that Brock version rather than this Gargan version Hasbro has released. Last edited by agentsands; 03-15-2011 at 03:27 AM.. |

i just picked one of these up from a local comic shop near me (buffalo, NY) the guy got 6 cases and all the venoms were the same... so i'm gonna say there is no eddie brock version (at least for now) and the one without the red eyes was just a prototype. disappointing, i wanted the one in the pictures as well... didn't really care for mac as venom... but i'm looking forward to a flash thompson venom figure.

It's weird that this is showing up in Asia and in US comic shops, but still isn't on ebay. At least not that I've seen, and I check everyday.

Finally found this guy in the UK at TRU - saw all his wavemates but not Venom, I was about to give up, then spotted him hidden amongst a load of Star Wars stuff!
What does everyone think? I haven't opened it yet but seems a lot more detailed. Anyone else thinking of turning him into Brock Venom with some putty and a splash of white paint? Hope to see Scorpion and Lizard soon...........

Thought I'd update with a few thoughts now that I've opened the figure.
Slightly disapointed with the colour(s) - I know it's the Mac Gargan Venom but the grey doesn't seem right. As per my previous post I think I might give him a Brock makeover since that's the version of Venom I'm familiar with. Having said that, I'm very happy with the figure, it's an awesome sculpt - the earlier version looks utterly rubbish in comparison. The two figures are pretty much the same height (as measured by the top of the head), it's just this new version if much more muscley - much wider arms, chest and legs. He also now has knees! When I first saw the photos (linked in the first post in this thread) I thought it looked a bit cartoonish, which it really doesn't now it's in hand. I think those photos may be of a figure which has been painted since it seems excessively shiny. Hopefully you guys in the US will see this figure at mass retail soon!
