Sad sad sad.
I'd LOVE real 3.75" figures of these characters.. This is just pathetic. It's like hasbro doesn't really care about their older fans when it comes to this show. And don't give me "nostalgic" articulation.. That can work for old characters.. It doesn't fly for a new show line with new characters. |

Hate the articulation but Sabine will be an instant purchase.
Ticked about the permanent helmet though. |

Not really a fan of the 5 POA figures, but for what they are they look pretty good, except the Wookie pack. Their bodies just seem off, like they're Chinese bootlegs.

Agreed with all comments above.
Bossk and IG88 look identical to the old 1980 originals in my collection, dusted off and re-packaged. In fact, my old IG88 looks better. Has there been no advancement in figure design, sculpting and articulation in thirty-five years? These don't seem intended for the collector market. Disney and Hasbro appear to be making a determined effort to reach a new audience among today's children, consistent with the overall tone and artistic style of the cartoon. Maybe better figures are planned for a future wave of the Black Series! Full point to the designer for the clever packaging, though. The stormtrooper helmet is distinctive and eye-catching. My only gripe is that you can't very well re-use a blister pack, but again, that's only a priority for collectors, and we are not the target market this time. I'm hoping that at least a few characters from Rebels get the 3.75" or 6" Black Series treatment. Most other original/prequel trilogy characters have had regular articulated versions in the past (and likely will again in the future), so I'm not too bummed to see those at 5 POA figures.

So glad I stopped collecting Star Wars, for the most part, 4-5 years ago. A few figures here and there yes, but I think Toryn Farr was my last purchase (she'd been on my want list for over a decade, I had to get her.) Given I've bought over 700 figures and probably only around 20-30 in the last five years, I'm glad I can say with her my collecting days on this line are done.
These figures look like they've gone backwards to a point even before the mid/late 90's resurgence. Horrible. No interest in collecting again if this is the quality they're putting out. |

Well, I wouldn't say they look THAT bad But to the people who say no collectors want these, I happen to work right next to a Toys R Us, so I'm in there at least once a day (boy, the employees sure love me, haha) and I can tell you, these guys sell! Maybe it's because you can army build the stormtroopers on the cheap, maybe it's 'cause they're missing a Boba Fett for their Sarlacc Pit display, or maybe they just use 'em for Funko ReAction customs, but who cares? If they're peg warming around you, you probably don't have a lot of collectors in your area!

The proportions of the old IG88 are more screen-accurate, and the plastic looks more metallic. I won't part with money for the new one in order to do a comparison, but can supply a photo or two of the original if there are no decent images on Google. Anyway, he and Bossk were minor characters in the movie, so seems like filler for this series, like the Wookiees.
The show is confirmed for a second season, so the demand is there. How convenient that the toys hit the shelves right before Christmas. |

Those "colorless" minifigs are interesting to me, I like to paint little details so I think I will get some of those just to paint and make a mini-diorama.

Also, golden master Yoda looks like Master Yogurt from Spaceballs (which was a parody of master yoda, of course)

I am really hopeful that there will be some fully articulated figures from Rebels. It would just be such a shame if there weren't and all we get are these 5POA figures. I mean, these look really great to me, I just would like them being more poseable.

That chopper droid is looks like it's made out of Play Doh. Yuck!
I'm convinced: superior versions will be released for the collector market soon, most likely as part of a new wave to re-invigorate the 6" Black Series. I haven't seen them up close yet, but a friend says the new ships are very nice. His favorite is the modified TIE. Last edited by Skoob; 11-14-2014 at 08:57 PM.. |

It's due for initial release this month. Though, I don't expect it to hit market saturation until after the new year. Best bet to get it early would be online shops.
