Yikes. That's pretty bad. Animation is stiff and looks very outdated. At least the toys look to be cool. Also, voices are abysmal. But what do you folks think? Are you into it at all?

Animation looks cheap, which is a shame because the artistic style is quite nice. The voices sound like they are directing too much on the 'Teenage' part of the name. 'Booyakasha' is also a really dated piece of slang to use...
I'll pass. |

With TMNT, at least the styles are cyclical. We'll get a overly kiddie version for a while, and then we'll eventually get a more mature series for a while and then the cycle will repeat itself. And I do agree, I like the art style when presented as still images. But in motion the 3D rigging seems too stiff. It lacks flow and the mouth movements need a few extra frames inserted.
But, I do like the toys that are coming out for it and I've always been more into the toys than the fiction of just about anything.

I think it looks ok, but Booyakasha? what was wrong with Cowabunga? atleast that was unique to the Turtles and not an outdated Ali-G catchphrase

Agreed. Not a fan. Ultimate Spiderman is better than this. Don't really care for the toys for the line. I'm just glad though that the classics are coming out. At least I still hope so.

Not impressed so far, though I did like the action in it (animation issues aside). The announcer also seemed a bit over-the-top.
My hope is that this is just a rough cut thrown together out of mostly-completed frames so they could get some promotion going before the air date. Once we get closer to that, we may get better looking trailers and TV spots.

Not sure what you were listening to, but it certainly couldn't have been this. I mean, Donatello is voiced by the original Raphael for cryin' out loud.

I won't watch it because as much as I love action figures, I get bored watching children's cartoons, but I don't think the animation is that bad. It's not the best I've ever seen, but I read the few comments posted before watching the clip and was expecting worse.

My biggest worry is that Nick'll treat it like they do Kung Fu Panda. They're constantly scheduling the show and then not airing it. Case in point, they finally finished season 1 and started season 2 back in April. They aired one episode of season 2, then the following week when more episodes were scheduled, they had SpongeBob instead. Not a single episode of season 2 has aired since, and they just announced yesterday that they've begun work on season 3.
What.

Wow that looks like a nintendo video game. I hope its on Nickelodeon and not NickToons. If it is Nicktoons it means no HD and it will suck so much more. I can't believe they have not upgraded to HD yet. I hate watching Iron Man and Voltron force in low def. Speaking of which i don't get The Hub HD either so Transformers Primer is low def too.
But i guess very young kids my dig it. Like say under 7. |

That looks like "Coming soon to Wii" should be seen toward the end.

We don't like animation or the added special effects like the "SHHHHHHHH" and stars when they fight.
Is anyone else sick of hearing the same voice actor in different cartoons when their voices sound too similar. Greg Cipes does the voice of Michelangelo ,as well as Iron Fist from Ultimate Spider-Man and Kevin Levin from Ben 10. Is it just us or were cartoons better in the 80-90s? Not yet lol |

I'm not tired of him, but I get what you're saying because as great as he is, I'm sick of Kevin Michael Richardson. To the point that whenever someone announces him as a cast member I can't help but groan. Quote:

Writing, animation, voice acting.

Definately not the eighties. I can't think of a single thing done in a cartoon from the eighties that hasn't been improved upon a dozen fold. Writing, animation, voice acting.

Saw the trailer during Korra.
CG hurts the series yes, but then aside from Reboot, there isn't a CG cartoon in existence that wouldn't be much better with traditional animation. That said, I don't think it looks nearly as bad as everyone's saying.

Looks pretty fun and entertaining. I'm looking forward to it.
The animation looks like it'll be as fluid as it needs for the style choices of the scenes in question. So I expect some fun things from those choices. The entire comic book on the tv screen vibe really helps sell that too. It looks like it'll jump back and forth from slapstick to serious, even some self-mockery along the way like the attack phrase used and then mocked. Looks like they took their cues from all over. A little bit of Robin from early YJ season 1 (the word jokes), and the doctor's tendency to slip from serious to slapstick in 10 seconds flat with that missles to pizza place scene among some other scattered story and character techniques. So I'm expecting this to have a nice mix for the adult fans and kids alike. Last edited by Snowflakian; 06-23-2012 at 01:41 PM.. |

It looks okay. Too cartoony so far from trailer alone.
Don't know if I'll like this incarnation as much as the 2003 Turtles. |

What I dislike about this is the voice cast. Sean Astin? Jason Biggs? Kevin Michael Richardson? So when I watch this show now, all I'll hear is Special Agent Oso, American Pie, and Panthro. Great. |

Just look at how many people watched the original TMNT toon and didn't realise that James "Uncle Phil" Avery was the voice of Shredder?

But the actors in question just basically use their own voice for pretty much everything. What I don't want, but know it will happen, is listen to shredder and hear Bulkhead, or Panthro, or Roadblock. We'll see what happens I guess.

Hopefully, the writing and performances will be good enough that you'll be able to ignore the source of the voices. I know during the first few episodes of Transformers Prime, I kept waiting for Fowler to quote something from Ghostbusters.

After watching some of the original 87 Ninja Turtles, I think I'm going to like this New Show. The original was pretty goofy to. And I like the Voices, seems to fit just right for me.
