Licensing Expo 2010 To Broadcast Show Via Web
Posted on 05-20-2010 at 04:22 AM by Joe Moore under General Toy News.
General Toy News
NEW-LX10-logo_K Play Things reports that the Licensing Expo 2010, normally a show with very limited public access, plans to change direction this year. This will be the first year that information is available directly to the public. The show will have live feeds directly from the show floor, with interviews and more.

LAS VEGAS— Licensing International Expo will open the tradeshow to the world, virtually with Internet streaming and content captured from the expo held June 8-10 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center here.

Licensing International Expo is celebrating 30 years of bringing together top-level consumer products, licensing, retail and manufacturing executives to discover new brands and revenue generating opportunities. The Las Vegas venue provides a vast show floor with 400 exhibitors over 400,000 square feet and an all-inclusive, campus-like atmosphere for the three-day event.

On June 8 and 9, 2010 between 10:45 a.m. and 1:45 p.m. PDT, live streams and content will be shared globally at www.ustream.tv/licensingexpo. The show also has a Facebook page at www.facebook.com/licensinginternationalexpo.

Licensing International Expo’s Media Stream Center will broadcast live interviews from the showroom floor as well as footage from around the event and will allow exhibitors to deliver key brand messages to a broader audience.

“This is a very compelling way to showcase our customers and their brands to over 100,000 media outlets from around the world,” said Liz Crawford, show director. “With the caliber of exhibiting companies we have on the show floor, as well as the brands they represent, we feel the added exposure for them is incredibly valuable to their own marketing and sales objectives. The power this one trade show holds regarding what consumers ultimately buy at retail is a driving force in a global economy.”

Exhibitors will be showcased in live interviews from the Media Stream Center during the first two days of the show.

“Our goal is to give people an inside look at Licensing International Expo and offer compelling content that is both informative and entertaining,” said Mark Shockley, president of Evolution Los Angeles, a digital production company based in Santa Monica, Calif. “We will produce a Web TV-style show to audiences around the globe.”

Additionally, to deliver more content to a broader audience, video as well as other media/consumer assets, still photos, quotes, etc. will be made available online via Evolution’s proprietary Multimedia news site, MNRwire.com. This gives exhibitors unique exposure for their messages and allows a global audience to experience the energy and the buzz of the tradeshow.

Ghostbuster 12 Inch Peter Venkman Head Fix
Posted on 05-19-2010 at 05:06 AM by Joe Moore under General Toy News.
General Toy News
Dr-Peter-Venkman-Ghostbusters-Head-Fix-001 Many people that bought the 12 inch Ghostbuster Peter Venkman figure noted a strange problem. The characters head looked either squished or like it had been bashed in by a vengeful spirit. Now, Mattel tells you how to fix that problem as well as what caused it.

Ghostbusters™ Fans,

The mystery surrounding the face sculpt of our 12” Peter Venkman™ figure has been completely investigated and, from our friends at Corporate Headquarters, here’s the result:

“For the Peter Venkman™ figure, there is a vacuum seal on the head that in this case happened to pull it together to create the unfortunate “squished” look. To remedy it, customers must remove the figure from the package and pull the head back slightly (but DO NOT pull it off) to let some air in. They may have to press on the head to re-shape it. If the product is still defective, or if fans were planning on keeping the figure in-package, we will give a refund. We have already talked to the plant to ensure that this does not happen on future products.”

We know that many of you figured this fix out for yourselves and hopefully you now have the figure you were expecting. If you would like a refund, please call Customer Service at 1-877-GO-MATTY or send an email with your name and order number (if available) to MattyCollectorCS@digitalriver.com. On behalf of the MattyCollector.com team, we apologize to our loyal Ghostbusters™ fans and want you to know we’re doing everything we can to minimize these kinds of issues in the future.

— Matty
