Now this is no mere repaint with minimal retooling of their 1/60 YF-19, not at all, as the design requires a predominantly new mold. It's reminiscent of the differences between the YF-22 prototype and production F-22A Raptor; the latter looking significantly different by production time.
The VF-19 in Macross 7 was shown in 3 different varieties:- Fire Valkyrie
- VF-19S Blazer Valkyrie
- VF-19F
- VF-19P from Macross Dynamite 7
Flown by protagonist Nekki Basara, the VF-19 Kai Fire Valkyrie differed from previous "hero" valkyries by sporting a face, and was armed with minimal conventional weaponry. Instead, the pacifist Basara preferred to use his speaker pod shells and fire them at enemy and ally alike, in order for them to stop fighting and "listen to his song"!
Being that this is an all new mold, don't be surprised to see the Blazer Valkyrie from Emerald Force follow not too long afterwards. The 1/60 Fire Valkyrie will be the 1st modernized, perfect variable toy of the VF-19 Kai to hit the market, as the last one made was Bandai's original DX 1/65 VF-19 Kai Fire Valkyrie from the mid 90's(and their later VF HI-METAL version doesn't count since it does require parts removal/swapping)! | | Credit: Quinjester of the Toyark Forums! | Views: 172 | | | Posted on 02-05-2010 at 02:13 PM by Shin Densetsu under Macross Toy News. | For those of you who missed out on Yamato's previous releases of the 1/60 VF-0 Phoenix, here's another chance to buy them! This coming April, Yamato plans to rerelease the following variants of the VF-0 from Macross Zero:As a testbed for technology planned for use on the VF-1 Valkyrie, the VF-0 Phoenix is a much larger and bulkier aircraft with lower thrust engines, and an airframe that is less sleek. Produced in limited numbers, the VF-0 sees combat against the Anti-UN SV-51 variable fighters, in the prequel to Macross! Previous releases of the VF-0 from Yamato were prone to arm breakages(though the VF-0S w/Ghost set and the stand alone rerelease afterwards were said to be okay). Also, April will mark the 1st time that the VF-0A will be rereleased. So of course the big question is, will the arms be fixed?
At this point and time we can presume that the arms will be fixed and not prone to breakage, however, since we don't know for sure, it's best to just cross your fingers for now. With the long lapse between the release of the original VF-0A and the upcoming reissue, perhaps Yamato has figured out a way to make the arms much more durable and sturdy this time around. Each VF-0 reissue will retail for 17,640 yen. - DX VF-27 Lucifer
The tornado pack for the Messiah debuted in the recent Macross F movie, while the VF-27 and VF-25F were both featured prominently in the TV series and movie. The mounts of the protagonist Saotome Alto(VF-25F) an antagonist Brera Sterne(VF-27), these 2 fighters squared off several times during the series.
The DX VF-27 will make it's debut in Tamashii's Macross F line later this month. It features notable improvements over the DX VF-25 design, including:- thigh swivels
- longer and more accurate nose landing gear
- more range of motion for the knee joints
Of course the improvements implemented on the DX VF-27 have fans wanting to see a DX VF-25 improved as well. So the big question is, will Tamashii make a DX VF-25 with the improvements of the DX VF-27? While this remains to be seen, perhaps we will get a hint at Winter Wonderfest 2010.
Both the DX VF-27 and DX Tornado Messiah will include limited edition posters featuring Sheryl Nome and Ranka Lee. - VF-1J Milia Custom

- DX VF-25F Tornado Messiah
- VF HI-METAL VF-19 Kai Fire Valkyrie
- VF HI-METAL VF-1J Valkyrie
The 1/60 DX VF-27 from Macross Frontier features significant improvements over the DX VF-25's. These new improvements make it more appealing to fans. Shown also is the DX VF-25F Tornado Messiah from the recent Macross F movie. The 1/100 VF HI-METAL Fire Valkyrie will be released in early 2010 and is a significant improvement over the 1/65 DX VF-19 Kai Fire Valkyrie from over 15 years ago! Could the improvements shown on the HI-METAL Fire Valkyrie be carried over on a new, 1/60, DX Fire Valkyrie? The new images also reveal, for the 1st time, the swappable parts on the VF HI-METAL VF-1 Valkyrie! It is a perfect transformation VF-1, however the following parts can be swapped:- Hands
- Heatshield/canopy
- Landing gear
- Rifle parts
Note, the aforementioned parts are not necessary to swap for transformation(except for having to remove the landing gear). The heatshield or canopy, like the original 1/55's, can remain on. There are also significantly less removable parts compared to the 1/100 VF-1 Valkyrie toys from Toynami. Being that the hands shown are the rounded, TV style hands, the 1st release will most likely be the VF-1J Hikaru Custom. What we have seen is a move towards less and less swappable parts for the VF HI-METAL series. If, let's say a YF-19 Excalibur or VF-4 Lighting III is ever released in the line, could they completely do without swappable parts? Bandai(Tamashii hasn't made a figure of a Macross for several years, and this new toy is the most articulated yet! Smaller than previous Macross ships, the Macross Quarter is significantly more agile than it's predecessors, surprising fans when it debuted onscreen and engaged in battle.
It's quite fitting to see the end of the year with quite arguably, the most impressive toy from Tamashii's DX Macross Frontier lineup. With the experience gained from this past year, could a significantly inproved, DX VF-25 2.0 be released next year? Or how about never before seen(in toylines), Macross ships, such as a DX Macross 7? Hopefully the DX Macross Quarter is just the 1st in a toyline of new, fully articulated Macross ships!
