VF HI METAL VF-1J Hikaru Custom In Color
Posted on 03-11-2010 at 05:18 PM by Shin Densetsu under Macross Toy News.
Macross Toy News
VF-HI-METAL-VF-1J-Valkyrie-Hikaru-Custom-01 Tamashii has been hard at work on their VF-1J Valkyrie prototype from their VF HI-METAL line, taking into account that the Valkyrie is a beloved mecha design with fans who want to see things done right. At 1/100 scale, and close to, if not, perfect transformation, this is quite a challenging feat.

Since the VF100's line was released last year, Tamashii has took steps to reduce the amount of parts swapping required to transformation. At this point, parts swapping on the VF HI-METAL VF-1J might just be for cosmetic reasons, for example, if you want the engine turbines to be exposed or covered, or canopy swapped with the heatshield in battroid mode.

In any case, Tamashii is no stranger to transforming VF-1's but the last time they worked on a new mold was back in the 80's with the High Complete Model( HCM) 1/72 VF-1 series. The new VF HI-METAL VF-1J is not only much more accurate, but much more articulated than that release, and now Tamashii has released images of the prototype in color(fully painted)!

Yamato Macross 1/48 VF-1S Renewal Versions
Posted on 03-05-2010 at 04:23 PM by Shin Densetsu under Macross Toy News.
Macross Toy News
Yamato-148-VF-1S-Roy-Focker-Special-01 Coming in May are renewal versions(in new package) of the popular 1/48 VF-1S Roy Focker Special & 1/48 VF-1S Hikaru Custom by Yamato! These 1/48 scale releases of the VF-1 Valkyrie are some of the most popular Macross toys. The Roy Focker Special in particular usually selling out in no time, every time it is reissued.

Despite the release of the newer V2 1/60 VF-1 Valkyrie, the Yamato 1/48 VF-1 Valkyrie toys are still the biggest and most detailed VF-1 toys ever released. Depending on whom you talk to, they are regarded as the best VF-1 toys ever made. The 1/48 VF-1 design broke the mold so to speak, as it was the 1st modern, perfect variable VF-1 toy to be made since the venerable Takatoku 1/55 VF-1 Valkyrie series of the 80's. It's unveiling came as a shock in spring 2002, as the only other VF-1 series Yamato had released prior to the 1/48 was the parts-swapping V1 1/60 series. The 1/48 was a significant step up.

In any case, if you missed out on these during the years, you got another chance to get these in May(for the VF-1S Hikaru Custom) & June(for the VF-1S Roy Focker Special)! Both releases feature significantly smaller packages than the previous versions.

Yamato Macross 7 1/60 VF-11C Thunderbolt III Preview
Posted on 02-23-2010 at 12:43 AM by Shin Densetsu under Macross Toy News.
Macross Toy News
160-VF-11C-Thunderbolt-III-Yamato-Macross-7-01 CdnShockwave has posted images of his recently acquired VF-11C Thunderbolt from Macross 7! This 1/60 version was recently released by Yamato, after a few delays. It follows the release of the various VF-22S' which started last year when Yamato acquired the Macross 7 license for 1/60 scale toys.

Known as the cannon fodder of the series, the VF-11C features a design similar to that of the VF-1 Valkyrie; which is quite fitting considering that the VF-11 is considered to be the true successor to the classic VF-1. Despite it's cannon fodder status, the VF-11C was a highly anticipated release, featuring retooled parts to make it more animation accurate and distinguish it from the previously released, VF-11B.

With the announcement by Yamato that they are making a 1/60 VF-19 Kai Fire Valkyrie, what other Macross 7 releases could be next in 1/60 scale? Could the heavy armor, similar to the VF-1's GPB armor parts, be released for the VF-11C later this year? Click on the title bar to see Yamato's new VF-11C Thunderbolt III!

Macross Toy News
DX-VF-27-Macross-F-Battroid-02 Thanks to Toyark boards member Razerwire for posting images of his recently acquired DX VF-27 Lucifer from Macross Frontier! Like the VF-25 Messiah, the VF-27 Lucifer was derived from the YF-24 prototype, however it surpasses the Messiah in some ways and proved to be quite the opponent in the series.

Flown by Brera Sterne, this purple VF-27 also comes with Ranka Lee, both of which are removable from the cockpit, an improvement over the DX VF-25. The DX VF-27 also features other improvements over the DX VF-25, including:
  • Thigh swivels for a more dynamic gerwalk mode
  • Improved arm articulation
  • Integrated gunpod attachment clip
  • Longer, more accurate and detailed landing gear
  • Able to store gunpod in fighter mode with landing gear down, something that the DX VF-25G could not do
This release has been a hot seller, and aside from the DX Macross Quarter, the most highly anticipated release in the Macross Frontier DX series. Could a retooled DX VF-25 with the aforementioned improvements of the DX VF-27 be released later this year, possibly in fall? Click on the title bar to check out the new DX VF-27!

Yamato 1/60 YF-19 And YF-21 Rerelease May 2010
Posted on 02-11-2010 at 10:17 PM by Shin Densetsu under Macross Toy News.
Macross Toy News
160-YF-19-YF-21-Yamato-Macross-Plus For those of you who missed out on the 1/60 YF-21 Sturmvogel II and 1/60 YF-19 Excalibur, Yamato is giving you another chance to buy these 2 Macross Plus toys in a few months! Both the 1/60 YF-21 & YF-19 will be rereleased in May 2010, according to HK Collectibles. These are in addition to the rerelease of the VF-0 in both A and S varieties as well.

The 1/60 YF-21 and YF-19 are notable improvements over Yamato's 1st Macross toys from the 1/72 Macross Plus line! Bear in mind, the YF-21 solicited for preorder this time around lacks the stand that the original came with.

Yamato Announces 1/60 VF-19 Kai Fire Valkyrie From Macross 7
Posted on 02-08-2010 at 11:37 AM by Shin Densetsu under Macross Toy News.
Macross Toy News
Yamato-160-VF-19-Kai-Fire-Valkyrie-Ad Yamato announced that their next project for Macross is the 1/60 VF-19 Kai Fire Valkyrie! Now this is no mere repaint with minimal retooling of their 1/60 YF-19, not at all, as the design requires a predominantly new mold. It's reminiscent of the differences between the YF-22 prototype and production F-22A Raptor; the latter looking significantly different by production time.

The VF-19 in Macross 7 was shown in 3 different varieties:
  • Fire Valkyrie
  • VF-19S Blazer Valkyrie
  • VF-19F
  • VF-19P from Macross Dynamite 7
Flown by protagonist Nekki Basara, the VF-19 Kai Fire Valkyrie differed from previous "hero" valkyries by sporting a face, and was armed with minimal conventional weaponry. Instead, the pacifist Basara preferred to use his speaker pod shells and fire them at enemy and ally alike, in order for them to stop fighting and "listen to his song"!

Being that this is an all new mold, don't be surprised to see the Blazer Valkyrie from Emerald Force follow not too long afterwards. The 1/60 Fire Valkyrie will be the 1st modernized, perfect variable toy of the VF-19 Kai to hit the market, as the last one made was Bandai's original DX 1/65 VF-19 Kai Fire Valkyrie from the mid 90's(and their later VF HI-METAL version doesn't count since it does require parts removal/swapping)!

Yamato Macross Zero VF-0 Phoenix To Be Reissued In April
Posted on 02-05-2010 at 02:13 PM by Shin Densetsu under Macross Toy News.
Macross Toy News
VF-0-Phoenix-Yamato-Macross-Zero For those of you who missed out on Yamato's previous releases of the 1/60 VF-0 Phoenix, here's another chance to buy them! This coming April, Yamato plans to rerelease the following variants of the VF-0 from Macross Zero:
  • VF-0S
  • VF-0A
As a testbed for technology planned for use on the VF-1 Valkyrie, the VF-0 Phoenix is a much larger and bulkier aircraft with lower thrust engines, and an airframe that is less sleek. Produced in limited numbers, the VF-0 sees combat against the Anti-UN SV-51 variable fighters, in the prequel to Macross! Previous releases of the VF-0 from Yamato were prone to arm breakages(though the VF-0S w/Ghost set and the stand alone rerelease afterwards were said to be okay). Also, April will mark the 1st time that the VF-0A will be rereleased. So of course the big question is, will the arms be fixed?

At this point and time we can presume that the arms will be fixed and not prone to breakage, however, since we don't know for sure, it's best to just cross your fingers for now. With the long lapse between the release of the original VF-0A and the upcoming reissue, perhaps Yamato has figured out a way to make the arms much more durable and sturdy this time around. Each VF-0 reissue will retail for 17,640 yen. Click on the title bar to see more!
