Yamato has several new Macross items on display at Shizuoka Hobby Show, including new additions to their 1/60 line, and the first public display of the GN-U Dou VF-1 figures.
The newest addition to the 1/60 line is the Low Visibility VF-1S. Depending on which episode of SDF Macross you watch, this is the closest thing so far to a TV-accurate Skull 1! It provides a significant contrast to the “hero” colors of Hikaru’s VF-1J. This is the first low viz VF-1 in the 1/60 line. Other VF-1 variants shown include the of the VF-1J production version(TV), and VE-1 Elint Seeker.
Also shown is Yamato’s Fan Racer model kit, made popular in the 1st episode of Macross. This model is in 1/60 scale and is the 1st Macross model kit by Yamato.
New 1/60 toys based on designs from Macross Plus & Macross Dynamite 7 were on display as well. Shown are the orange trimmed YF-19 Prototype #3 Bird of Prey, and YF-19 Prototype #4 Double Nuts. The latter differs from the version shown here on Yamato’s site, which shows faded blue trim as opposed to red. From Macross Dynamite 7 is the VF-22S Sturmvogel II. Yamato has stated that the YF-19’s shown will be of higher quality compared to previous YF-19 releases.
The GN-U Dou VF-1 figures on display include the VF-1S Super Valkyrie, VF-1A TV Max Custom, VF-1A production version(TV), VF-1A TV Kakizaki Custom, & VF-1J Hikaru Custom. These figures feature animated styling and superb articulation.
Lastly, Yamato placed their 1/1 scale U.N. Spacy Pilot Helmet from Macross Do You Remember Love? on display.
