So, is that a new Ed McGiunness B&W Batman statue I spy? Pretty dynamic looking piece! | Hey Jose! (its my real name to!lol) glad you have found some of my vids funny! and im glad i found this place to!! Its awesome!! :rock scarecrow: I want to be excited about all this stuff, but my wallet says "no". QuantumShock: Watchmen looks good ! Shin Densetsu: Those DC women statues based on Adam Hughes' artwork look great. Ktulu: Gah, too much awesome Quote: |
Those DC women statues based on Adam Hughes' artwork look great.
| You bet! DESTRO: Mattel has a massive set up at the show so expect to see the Ghost Busters toys, New He-Man toy and DC.
Hasbro is at the show and the case is over flowing with new Universe and X-Men toys..........Wait for it! Scantron: The Blackest Night stuff is looking great and I'm really looking forward to those figures coming out; too bad there's no individual picture of the Indigo Lantern visible in the background, though.
However...I'm concerned that the Atrocitus toy has made it this far with his Red Lantern symbol upside down. I really hope that gets fixed before these are released. Shin Densetsu: Also, the white costume Hand Ninja looks like it will be very easy to customize into Storm Shadow! shibamura_prime: I'm digging those Fury Files more and more. Must get Spidey and his Amazing Friends! Alyosha: GOOOOO! Seriously, those Fury Files figures are a little plastic slice of nerd-nirvana. The character selection if a great mix of "A", "B", and "C" list characters, and the sculpts look fantastic. Deefuzz: Quote:

MegaPrime33: Yeah, I'm dying to see the ghostbuster figures. MegsTriggerMan: I swore off the 3 3/4 marvel ... but man are they making it difficult.
I know you guys are busy at the con but if ya get a sec ... Are the Animated figures fully poseable and do they come with the dio-stands? sparkhunter: the new 3 3/4 is the bomb....... I'm glad that the other marvel lines are also following the same scale, It was a pain before whe neach show/ line was a different size.
Wallet is sad and already feels empty. Shin Densetsu: Marvel Universe info: Quote:

| Flint: You have no idea how excited I am for the Spider Man and his Amazing Friends 3 pack. Iceman's head and Eyes are dead on and Firestar, what can I say.. so F'N AWESOME. MegaPrime33: I guess it's actually pretty cool to have the BAF size figures, without going through the hassle and money of buying 6 or so figures that you dont really want, in order to build the one. Problem is though, because they've done so many BAF figures, which ones will they release, and how similar will they be to the BAFs. Beast: I love the fact they're gonna run a Pick 5 Poll on their website!!
The list we get to choose from appears to be...
Vance Astro

Jocasta artiepants: DARKHAWK for Marvel Universe 3-3/4"!!!!
(i want!!!) trebleshot: So many good things coming out soon, I'm going to have to be careful about budgeting my money. pud333: Hmmm... not sure if I'm digging the Iceman. Actually, I'm not. I would much prefer a clear Iceman. MegaPrime33: The ice-man is more show accurate though. He wasn't clear on the show, he was......white. sparkhunter: not sure if I'm groving on the gigantic battles.
I get the whole one 3 3/4 inch and one larger in scale.
but why a 3 3/4 iron man and a large cyclops? I figured the large figures would be the larger figures from marvel, sentinal, galaticus, a large ant man,
but not large version of normal figures CrownCoke: I think that we may see see the clear one in a later line. I would love them to do that like they did with Johnny Storm... An ice form and human form. Beast: Quote:

but not large version of normal figures | That's not Cyclops. That's Goliath aka Hank Pym. sparkhunter: thought i saw what looked like cyclops visor on the figure,
if it is goliath that makes me happier. Banshee: That Lumberjack Logan from the Wolverine movie looks cool, comes with an axe, AND interchangable hands!! awesome!
Oh, and my vote for the 5 next MU figs would be:
1-multiple man
2-Archangel
3-Mystique
4-Moonstone
5-Iron Man 2020 Da_Last_2_Walk: I understand that this Iceman is cartoon accurate.....but..... Quote:
Originally Posted by pud333 Hmmm... not sure if I'm digging the Iceman. Actually, I'm not. I would much prefer a clear Iceman. | Agreed!
I want a clear Iceman & a chrome Silver Surfer! MegaPrime33: Ninja Turtles Classics are awesome, though I wished they would have shown more of whats to come than figures we already figured. Foot Soldier, Slash, and April are all mine. Nemesis*Prime: The Marvel Universe stuff is great and the fact that Hasbro is even adding giant sized figures (like a SENTINEL) is awesome. Blade, Moon Knight, Fury, and Firestar are my favorites from the selection shown.
As for voting for the next 5 MU characters, from the 70 Marvel is giving us, there are just so many great choices it's hard to pick. But here are my 5 anyway:
Silver Sable
Psylocke
Mystique
Madame Hydra
Lady Bullseye
I voted for all female characters since there's never enough made. Da_Last_2_Walk: Those new MOTU Classics look cool! Deefuzz: Wow. So nothing new with DCU Classics huh?
That's real disappointing. artiepants: Fury does look really good ~ what's the dealio with his mail in?
My top 5 (not based on the list)
would be:
Dark Hawk
Spidey 2099
Nova in updated yellow-n-blue (pre Nova-Prime armor)
Bucky Cap
Luke Cage
what's the story with Union Jack? is he in wave 3? cheetorBWORG: That new Spiderman Mighty Mugg looks damn cute with it's pull off mask. That right there is AWESOME. Now if only there was a way to make clothes for a mugg... :P Then it can go all "secret costume" Spiderman Mugg. DESTRO: Just a quick update to add....................
No play sets in the works for 2009.
No stands yet but they "Hasbro" know the fans are asking for them.
The Blade figure is sick! I love it, it was nice to see it upclose along with Firestar!
There will be X-Men Wolverine Movie Toys. They could not talk about them and said wait for next week at toy fair.
I will bet any amount of money we are getting a Sentinel Gigantic Battles Set! FTW...........
Most of the hardcore Mattel news will show up tomorrow. After the panel they will show off upcoming He-man and DC stuff.
ToyArk will be there..........Stay Tuned............ Darkravager: Quote:

| WHAT? I like that version! Ditko horns FTW! As for belly shirt, you aren't talking about the modular(mouthless helmet FTW!) armor are you? uberlad: there are too many awesome characters in that list!
my top figs I'd like to see sooner or later, as I'll be spending most of 2009 drooling over the spidey and his amazing friends three pack.
1. multiple man (as a multi-pack with different heads/facial expressions)
2. winter soldier
3. luke cage
4. cannonball
5. havok
6. thunderbird
7. gwen stacy
8. mary jane
9. amazing bag man
10. firelord
11. drax
12. the hood
13. cosmic spidey
14. domino
15. archangel AdrienVeidt: Huh, that Atom-Smasher fig might well make me actually but something from Mattel without the assumption that I'll have to fix it up to make it worth having. Go, Mattel; surprise me. I dare ya.

Originally Posted by Enigma2K2 Wow, nice to see DC COMPLETELY ignore the complaints about the huge hands... | It's been known since SDCC (when Hasbro showed off the MU protos and Mattel got thoroughly embarrased by their incompetence at 18th scale figs), that Mattel's gonna be bringing out a newly-articulated base body to do everyone with. It'll essentially be a VOTC SW body, retaining the same weak swivel hips both lines share. No mention of changing the hands, altho I'd assume they'll fix the monkey-fists issue since they said there will be swivel wrists. Shin Densetsu: It puzzles me why Mattel is not implementing universal hip joints(4H Tcrotch), or ball jointed hips on their IH figures. Even Mezco uses ball hips on their 3-3/4" Hellboy figures! AdrienVeidt: Quote:

Ktulu: Man that Hordak is a beauty Ravenxl7: I'm curious, which figures will I have to buy to get Chemo? I really want to get that guy, but I'm not really sure which of the wave 9 figures I'll need to get to finish him (since it seems there will be more in the wave that you'll need to get to finish him). Green Lantern and Wildcat look really good. Those two are the figures I'm looking forward to the most from this wave. Although they'll most likely be the first two I ever get from this particular toy line, lol. Syn3sthesia: I'm loving where DCUC is going!!! Shin Densetsu: Quote: |
I'm curious, which figures will I have to buy to get Chemo?
| All of wave 9 except the A-lister, which I think is Green Arrow. You don't need the variants to complete the C&C figures. Quote: |
I'm loving where DCUC is going!!!
| Same here, now I hope I can find them much easier this year, as DCUC is notoriously hard to find! scarecrow: Quote:

Though I'll probably get him anyways, as I like his character, the figure looks awesome, and going off of the info here, the A-lister will have a base of some kind. Thanks for the help. I'm pretty new to this line. Shin Densetsu: Quote: |
Thanks for the help. I'm pretty new to this line.
| No prob man.
I intend to buy Black Adam for sure. I've wanted a figure of him ever since reading Infinite Crisis. "NO MORE FACES PSYCHO PIRATE!"
EPIC WIN.
The good thing about the new DCIH figures w/new articulation is the fact that they don't look drastically different from the existing figures. With that said however, I could do without that for a slightly larger size and more articulation. I'll be collecting DCUC instead. DCIH has a great concept, but there are far better comic based 3-3/4" lines out there. general hawk59: By the power of grey skull i have the power... Oh my god i love the new he-man stuff i will buy everything. Da_Last_2_Walk: Tri-Klops & Teela look Bas Ass! Optimus Scourge: Man, good stuff! Flint: Hey guys and gals I just got home a little while ago and I had a great day at the show. Unfortunately I arrived later to the show then I planned due to the wacky weekend NY Transit schedules so I missed the Mattel DC Universe pannel. However I was able to attend the Matty Collector one with toy Guru and the four Horsemen. I even had a chance to speak to the Mattel Toy Guru, Scott Neitlitch (sp?) himself later in the day at the Mattel booth.
I am a huge JLU fan and the new additions coming to the line do not dissapoint. And the upcoming MOTUC releases are incredible. Believe me when I say the pictures do not do them justice.
I have my notes from the Matty Collector pannel and I am going through them. I hope to have a report up either tonight or early tomorrow on it.
I was able to aquire a Faker figure, but i was upset to learn I missed getting a He-Man figure by mere minutes. They told me the last one sold 10 minutes before I got there. They were available around the convention floor for ridiculous amounts of money. I gather some of the dealers picked them up earlier in the day. On the flipside, Mattel did have plenty of Fakers and Beast Mans available. I hope to have a mini review of Faker some time this week, he is awesome. I was also given a Wolverine Origins Dog Tag from Acclaim I believe it was, which is very cool.
One little geek moment for me was being able to meet Kevin Maguire, who was the Artist on the 80's Justice League International series. I had him sign my Hardcover Volume 2 of the book. I was also shocked to see a long line for Rob Liefeld. I mean I remember the hype for him back in the day but I personally don't think his art was/is all that.
I saw some cool video games related stuff. Ultimate Alliance 2 looks like it is going to be awesome. Apparently the game is bassed on the Civil War. To promote it they even had a debate on Super Hero rights. Pretty funny stuff. Another upcoming release on display that looks great in the Legends of Wrestlemania. Only Hogan and Andre were available to use, but I did see the great Bobby "The Brain" Heenan at ringside. The graphics were amazing from the wrestlers to the crowd. The wrestlers even come to the ring in those little wrestling ring carts they used to use at some of the old Wrestlemania events. The game features a more old school control which harkens back to the well liked games of the past like WWF No Mercy. I was told they designed the game to lure back people who might not have played a wretling game in a while.
One thing that really struck me as funny was the Autograph area. Lou Ferrigno was there as was Peter Mayhew amongst others. But one "Celebrity" that was there blew my mind. The Legendary Anthony Forrester was there. You may be asking yourself, who it is. Shame on you! Mr Forrester portrayed a legendary cinematic role, he was the Stormtrooper at Mos Eisley who Obi Wan used the Jedi mind trick on. Of course I am being slightly sarcastic and I'm sorry to insult him or anyone else, but who would want to pay Money to meet him? Maybe it's just me.
Anyhow thats it for now. Big Thanks to Destro and Tony Bacala for allowing me the honor of being Toy Ark's field reporter. Optimus Scourge: ^700 posts!
Really, though, thanks so much for covering this and keeping us informed!
flint is the man! Cavbeast: I still wanna know what Walmart and Mattel are gonna do for Wave 5 since they basically are a store elusive wave. It's disgusting and depressing when I talk to a toy department employee they have never heard of the wave, they ask for the UPC so they could check the warehouse yet no one online has the UPCs...Niiice. Classy Mattel, very classy. I thought toy makers learned there lesson after the 1701 ST TNG figure fiasco... Autobot_Goldbug: Quote:

Next year we will have to plan to go as a team! trebleshot: Can't wait to see the report Flint. Glad you had a good time, it sounds like it was a lot of fun. Shin Densetsu: Welcome back Flint! You did a good job with the pics! MegaPrime33: Thanks to Flint for some awesome coverage! I love the MOTU stuff. It makes me want to go out and get an original Hordak and the awesome Staticon that came out a few years ago. RKillian: Sucks that Hasbro's abandoning Legends for a smaller size that'll be more expensive by volume and suffer even worse paint applications. Really sucks that everybody's somehow psyched for this knowing that's what's in store for us. Beast: Quote:

| I see it more as holding off until next year. From what I've seen, the MU figures tend to have consistent paint apps. Flint: Sorry this is late, but here is the highlights from the Matty Collector Pannel
OK as promised here is the highlights from the Mattel Matty Collector Pannelhosted by Toy Guru and the Four Horsmen

DCUC
April 15th Alex Luthor and Ultraman 2 pack Available
MOTUC
There may be some months with BOnus Figures. Bonus Figures will be repainrs or reissues, but don't worry about things like Tecnocolor SKeletor. Think Mini comic or 200x style repaints.
SDCC exclusive in addition to July Figure, revealed in April.
Ghostbusters
12" have a new body type pattened by Mattel that has never seen before with amazing articulation.
Will feature authentic accesories with moving parts. The line will represent all spectrums of Ghostbusters Media. Each Figure will be packed with a ghost. A new Figure will be available every other month.
12" Ghostbusters will be $60 and 6" will be $20.
Q&A Highlights
If MOTU contines to be successful, they may look at A Grayskull tyoe display. Good chances of Battlecat and obviously Panthor.
The Cost for Mini comics would take away from things like extra heads. They are looking at doing a graphic novel reprinting the original Mini comics.
They are looking at International distrabution centers for international fans.
MOTUC reissues would have minor changes like @nd printing on packaging.
King Greyskull could get a reissue with different paint apps.
You will never see a rerelease of LOBO but he may be a possability for JLU someday likely through Matty.
Director was signed for a MOTU movie
Shadow Weaver (MOTU) is off limits as are other Flimation characters. But if rights ever open up, they'll probably jump on it.
Titus and Megator would be more possible then Modulock and Accessory packs with repainted weapons might happen one day.
They were looking at trying to do Thndercats, but the rights are not available.
Anti Monitor 3 3/4 exclusive for SDCC. The 30" Antimonitor was very expensive to make and the ones given away for the Raffel is hand put together and painted. They looked at producing them but they would cost $300 and they would have to sell 50,000 to be profitable. Cavbeast: Quote:

No Problem. I have to say Mattel is really going to shine. They have a great fan friendly attitude and some amazing stuff currently available and in the pipeline for the future.
| They will shine more if we can find the DCUC figures. Those are the most popular collector-based DC items by Mattel and are extremely hard to find! I am glad that the later walmart wave will see much better distribution. I'm glad that the 4H were give the opportunity to do more 6" figures, not just DCUC, but Ghostbusters and more.
Wave 9 is full of winners. Batfans want Chemo(I remember when he was dropped on Bludhaven). I want Green Arrow and Black Canary(I'm a fan of the series too). I have wanted a Black Adam figure ever since I read Infinite Crisis. Mantis is good for fans of the New Gods, such as myself. Deadshot is a must as well.
All around, wave 9 has some of the best character choices to ever grace a wave. Autobot_Goldbug: Quote:
