In the latest issue of Toyfare, courtesy of Infinite Hollywood,it is revealed that Mattel is going to finally be bringing the Masters of the Universe Classics to retail. Toys "R" Us will be carrying a very interesting new line that brings together two of Mattel's most popular brands. Masters of the Universe Classics vs DC Universe Classics is exactly what it sounds like. The first 2-pack will feature He-Man and Superman as well as a reprint of DC Comics Presents #47, which featured this very crossover.

Also in this issue are shots of Masters of the Universe Classics Optikk and Evil Lyn's bird Screeech.

Newton Gimmick:
If you collect either of these lines this should be of interest. Especially if you collect MOTUC as it's the first time it's going to be in store. Even though I'm quitting DCUC myself, it looks like Mattel has found a way to suck me back in... At least for a few more figures. MOTUC comic packs are coming out to TRU.

MegaPrime33:
Interesting. Not sure what my thoughts are on this though. I mean is an extra 10 bucks for a DC character, like Superman, worth it? $30 seems a bit steep for me, but then again, most toy prices seem rather high to me anyway.
Joe Moore:
Thanks for the heads up. Front paged.
trebleshot:
Very interesting. I might pick these up for the MOTUC half, though I'm not sure what I would do with the DCUC figure.

Of course, if this sub-line ever survives long enough for a Scareglow/Gentleman Ghost two-pack, then I'm all over it.
Evantainment:
My first reaction is "very cool." At the same time it doesn't seem right for those who have ordered the toys from MattyCollector - especially those outside of the US who have to pay custom fees on top of shipping (myself being in that group)! Hopefully they make some changes to the MOTUC figures, or include different accessories.

I'll probably pick up He-Man/Superman pack, but I'll have to see what future "team-ups" are released to be completely sold on this idea, but the first set sounds cool.
TheSymbiote:
interesting.

they are different. he-man has yellow arm guards, a slightly translucent yellow/green power sword, pink paint apps to the gems on his belt, and no orange paint apps to the shield. his hair also appears to be bright yellow but i can't tell for sure. i'm sure there are other minor differences. those are just the ones that jumped out at me. these get the comic color treatment. kinda like hasbro did with gi joe
Shin Densetsu:
What the hell? This is actually cool but I'd rather have the MOTUC figures available by themselves.

That kind of reminds me of He Man from the New Adventures series.

agreed. just release main/select figures from line at tru. i can understand initially only selling them through online distribution methods but at this point it isn't like they wouldn't fly off the freakin shelves.

but realistically i know it won't happen. matty has to make a KILLING off of subscription services and by charging twenty bucks a pop. cha. ching.
Snowflakian:
Interesting. If they somehow manage to do more like King Grayskull vs Earth Prime Superman, or She-Ra vs Supergirl, I'll be all over these! Especially if they do a Hordak vs Cyborg Superman too.

Then I'm sold!
Are there any other MOTU/DC Crossover books? He-Man/Supes is the only one that I'm aware of. I'm wondering if we can expect some new fiction to accompany these if the line continues.
trebleshot:
Can't say I'm aware of any other crossovers between the two. But I would think since Matty has the toy rights to both properties, they could persuade DC to do up some new fiction, if needed.

Also, I'm going to guess that a version of Lex Luthor is the DC toy that will be with Skeletor's comic release.

i'm betting on batman
Evantainment:
My initial thoughts were Batman and Skeletor too. They seem like a perfect match. There is a certain logic to Skeletor and Luthor too....
Masterprime87:
Well I know I'll be getting this as soon as it comes out. I have plans for He-man with customs.
CyberScream95:
So awesome!!! I've been wanting to get a MOTU fig for quite some time, and looks like I won't have to buy online. Release em soon Mattel!!!
Newton Gimmick:
Yeah the good news is I've finally found these guys and got them reviewed up at my site. I'm glad to hear they are hitting online as well. Hopefully they become more readily available, they're worth it.
vincheng2k5:
I might pick up these 2-packs. I really hope they make super articulated versions of the 200x designs, though.
