Bandai has announced that they will be bringing back the popular series Mighty Morphin Power Rangers in a new toy line.

Go! Go! Get your Power Morphers – it’s Morphin’ time! Bandai America will bring the best-selling Power Rangers toy line back to its intergalactic, prehistoric roots with the “five teenagers with attitude” that started it all in a new collection of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers toys. The inaugural and most recognizable of 15 Power Rangers themes, this powered up Mighty Morphin line will feature both fresh and nostalgic play and collection experiences. Including action figures, vehicles, Megazords and role-play items aligned with the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers TV series premiering Saturday mornings January, 2010 on ABC Kids; the highly anticipated toys will begin to arrive at retail by the end of this year.

As the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers took over the air waves – and your brain waves – in 1993 they made an unforgettable impact on pop culture. Showing that heroes come in every color, teamwork conquers all, and girls really can rule (unfortunately for good and evil), they took entertainment and play-time by storm. With three TV seasons, a motion picture and thousands of toys, the Power Rangers have spent 17 straight years in the top ten best-selling boys’ action figure brands in the US according to The NPD Group.

“The original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers captivated the country in 1993, and many kids who played with the toys now have children of their own,” said Tim Wills Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing, of Bandai America Incorporated, “Families can experience their ‘morphin’ time’ once again as a whole new generation of kids are introduced to the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers toys.”

“I’m tickled pink to have had the opportunity to be a part of this juggernaut children’s action series and brand,” says Paul Schrier, former Mighty Morphin actor and director, “The good-natured humor and strong messages of teamwork and friendship really hit home with audiences everywhere and I can’t wait to see what’s next from this fountain of heroic action!”

To kick off the refreshed toy line, fans and families will get ready to battle not only for the salvation of the universe, but also for $11,000 in cash prizes in Bandai America’s “Power Up Video Challenge” contest. Consumers will be challenged to view a Power Rangers “cliffhanger video” online or at one of more than 2,000 movie theatres in the U.S., and then submit their own unique ending in a mini-movie or story-board at Bandai.com. Selected by both peers and a judging panel, the winning video and story-board entries will receive $10,000 and $1,000 in cash prizes respectively. Participants learn more and enter to win between October 1 and December 15 at www.Bandai.com.

Shin Densetsu:
I sincerely hope we get fully articulated, DX sized MMPR Zords in this line, even new Super Legend zords would do provided there actually IS full articulation this time around, not this whole "HEY LET'S GIVE THIS GUY ONE WORKING ELBOW BUT GIVE HIS OTHER ARM...WELL NOTHING"
crazedjustice88:
This is BEST toys news I have heard...in a long time....THANK YOU GOD!!! YAY!!!
alien Commander:
OH~ Thanks GOD! They come again... Peace!
ilikepuppies:
sooo excited !
Shin Densetsu:
I really hope for fully articulated Zords, the figures I'll pass on for now, judging by the images, they look to be very similar to the 5.5" figures we've been getting for the past few years. That's cool but to me, Bandai has yet to top the 8" MMPR figures(1st series not the spring action gimmick ones). Why? Consistency of sculpt and unrivaled articulation(for a ranger line).

What would truly make this anniversary line special is a MMPR DX Megazord with diecast metal and FULL articulation. Come on now, sentai fans have been BEGGING for fully articulated zords for YEARS, if this were to happen, most of us would be rejoicing.
trebleshot:
I just wish we could get Zords that change into multiple forms AND combine into a Mega Zord. That's the one thing I've missed about Power Rangers and pretty much the reason I've never bought any of the toys beyond a few of the mini-zord sets.

Full articulation would be pretty awesome, too.
megatronkicksas:
If we get Zords sign me up
Snowflakian:
As long as they make a fully articulated DragonZord in his megazord arms and legs mode with drill. I'll be happy. That's the only mech I wish I could find a candy kit, or decent figure of.

I already have all the geki candy kits for this reason over the DX ones. What's the point in having a kung fu mech, that can't pose kung fu moves?
boomerthemoose:
Boy, I sure hope they jump on the 3¾'' scale bandwagon that it seems so many toy lines are going with... I like all my action figures to be in the same scale as one another.
nakobass:
Just like everybody else. I looking for a DX Megazoid that's not a brick. I was 13 when MMPR came out. Dame I'm old, but not at heart. I'll be watching. Will there is a new show or just a reairing of the original?

At most, a reairing. Disney still has 20+ some odd years left on the contract to keep doing new ones every year still.
QuantumShock:
Sweet !! I am longing for megazord for long time !
Ian7:
WOO BLUE RANGER! Getting that shit.
Eric:
I came.

This is kinda bitter sweet for me...while I'm happy that there will be new/BETTER toys for the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers series...

I'm kinda taken back that there won't be a power rangers adaptation of the current sentai series Samurai Sentai Shinkenger....I personally love the current sentai series and was looking forward to bandai making decent figures for this series, but guess that wont happen...

As for better figures...man I hope, Bandai America made some weird decisions with the Super Legends zords and always alter the Japanese releases when brought over here.
Overhaulimus:
Just as long as I get my Dragonzord then I will be happy.

We don't know that for fact yet. But who knows with how much is still shelf warming right now from RPM and Jungle Fury.
Disney and bandai are both moderately hush hush, for awhile barring their surveys, which this time around was one heavily samurai suggestive.

Random question, but how would everyone want the yellow ranger figure to be done?

Obviously, the yellow ranger doesn't have the skirt like the pink ranger does since the Japanese yellow ranger was a male in Zyuranger. I think they will just repaint the sculpt for pink ranger for yellow ranger(like they typically do and just make unique helmet sculpts), but I kinda hope they don't add the skirt since it wasn't part of the outfit for her. I dont know, maybe I'm just being picky lol

If the pink skirt is just soft plastic, it can just not be added for the yellow with the new helmet. Some mold, makes it female, and keeps it accurate.
