Here are some pictures of my Custom Batman Figures. Most of these are older customs, so I thought I'd lump them together in one thread so I wouldn't use up so much space.
First is my Custom Bane figure. I made this one around the time Dark Knight Rises was coming out in theaters. I always cherry-picked DCUC and seldom completed a BAF. Besides, I always thought the Bane BAF was out of scale anyway. I made this figure using the few BAF parts I did have from DCUC Robin and Riddler and a WWE Wrestling figure. He was really inexpensive to put together and I really prefer this classic, comic book version of the character. |

This Anarky figure was cobbled together from a DCUC Manhunter and a DCUC Negative Man. I was able to get both figures really cheap on ebay. I picked Manhunter because of his head and the collar and used Negative Man because his arms and legs are more plain looking and the base body is red so I wouldn't have to worry about paint-rub in the joints. In Anarky's first appearances you didn't really see too many costume details under the cape, so I ommited some of the costume details like the silly 90's era thigh belts he wore in later appearances. The wide brim hat came from a TMNT Rat King figure and his staff is a Riddler cane with the question mark cut off. The Anarky symbol on his chest isn't comic accurate, but it looks cool and it was fun to paint.

I made this custom bomb to go with my '66 Batman figure to recreate my favorite scene from the movie and TV show. It's just a Ping Pong ball with some sculpty for the cap, a twisty-tie for the fuse and a Blast Effect from an older Star Wars figure.

I made this Custom Comics Style Batsignal using the Base from the Catwoman figure in the Dark Knight Rises Movie Masters line. The spotlight came with a WWE figure and the LED light came from an inexpensive toy lantern I picked up at the Dollar Store. I used a thin piece of clear plexiglass for the lens and the Bat-Logo is cardstock painted black. The Rooftop Diorama in the 3rd picture is scratch-built too. I made it out of insulation styrofoam, sticky-back foam sheets and acrylic paint.

One of my favorite versions of Catwoman is from her 90's solo title drawn by Jim Balent. I made this custom using a DCUC Star Sapphire as a base. I dyed her black to prevent paint rub in some of the joints. I sculpted the rest of her mask and the cuffs around her biceps. I cut off Star Sapphires collar and used the tips for Catwoman's ears and glued the hair back on to the newly sculpted back of her head. Catwoman's outstretched left had is from a 3 3/4 inch Wolverine movie Victor Creed figure. I cut it off and made a peg so it could be inserted into Catwoman's wrist. I glued a fleck of glitter onto the SS ring as if she's stolen a diamond ring and the whip is a wound up bit of cord from some busted earbuds. I repainted her with acrylic paints.

Batman goes up against a new villain called the Reaper in Batman: Year 2. The Reaper was the inspiration for the Phantasm character in the animated movie and uses bladed gauntlets on each hand. In the story, Batman carries the pistol used to kill his parents and contemplates using it to take revenge on Joe Chill.
This is the figure that came in the 2-pack with the red version of Jean-Paul Valley Batman. He originally came with one slash painted on his chest. I painted a second slash and carefully cut between his index and middle fingers to give him a trigger finger for his pistol. I would love to find a shoulder holster for him eventually to complete the look from the comics, but I haven't found the right one yet. |

This is the Evergreen/Power Attack Batmobile that originally came in a silly red, silver and sparkly blue paint scheme. I just took it apart and spraypainted it black. I handpainted the silver on the wheels and drybrushed the bat-logos. The canopy was originally light blue tinted clear plastic but I didn't like the way it looked after I repainted the rest of the car, so I painted it silver to match the wheels. It's a little too small to go with DCUC figures, but it looks nice with this older Mattel Batman figure nearby.

This Two-Face started out as a DC Collectibles Arkham Origins Black Mask figure. I picked him because of the 3-piece suit and pair of matching pistols. The head is from some WWE Wrestler figure. I dremelled down the side of his face and added the details with sculpty. I hand painted the face and even did a wash on his teeth and big, gross eye. Unfortunately, the Black Mask figure had a wash on his suit that made it look dirty, so I had to paint that whole side of his suit also. I actually like the fact that he has very little articulation because it made him easier for me to paint and I don't have to worry about paint rubbing off his joints.

This was originally the Super-Powers Mr. Freeze that came from the Batman Legacy line. I repainted him with grey, black and blue as a tribute to the way he looked in the Animated Series. The dome around his head was pink tinted clear plastic, so I replaced that with a clear plastic egg from a gumball machine. I didn't like the gun he came with either, so I gave him a new one that originally came with a Star Wars Hoth playset.

This Talia Al Ghul figure was cobbled together from 2 different female WWE wrestler figures. The head, arms and torso are from one figure and the pelvis and legs are from another. I know she looks a little generic, but Talia doesn't really have one, set costume in the comics and I imagine she might wear something like this when she's on a mission for her father. I repainted the tank top black and painted on some nice thick eyelashes/eyeliner to help make her look a little prettier. I like how she looks more mediterranian instead of just being a white chick.

For the sake of completeness here are my Custom Jason Todd Red Hood and DKR Batman figures. I created a thread for each of these figures already. I posted different photos and wrote about them in detail here if you're interested.

Finally, here is my Custom 1989 Micheal Keaton Batman. I started work on this custom a few days before Neca announced the TRU Exclusive version that comes with the Blu-Ray. It's aggravating to know I could have just waited and saved myself the trouble, but I had a lot of fun working on him and I actually like mine better anyway. Thanks!
