I was reading around today and read that if you use enamel model paint on soft plastics (arms/legs/heads of most figures) it will stay sticky and eventually decay the plastic! Is this true? I have found that it sometimes stays sticky, so what I used to do was put a coat of Krylon primer on the plastic. And sometimes I would even paint larger pieces with Krylon fusion.
It seemed to work, but I have found that some of those pieces are feeling sticky and some of the stuff with just primer that wasn't painted is so bad that the primer wipes right off!!! What do I do?! Some of the stuff is already finished customs! And some of it I used Model Masters acyclic paint on, and it worked, but I still used that primer underneath! What do you think will happen to that? Please give all the ideas/advice/thoughts you have!

I've had that happen with a few figures usually on a color mixed from a lot of paints and only on certain parts of the figure like legs, jackets and capes. Some times you can get the sticky paint off with a gentle wash other times you must scrub but this could damage the piece. When it's sticky like that warm to hot water with dish soap should work. Don't use paint thinner or anything like that it will make the plastic brittle and may even blister.

Thanks, sounds like some good tips. So that soap method works with enamel paint? And what if the primer stuff is underneath the good paint?
Also, where is the cheapest place for Model Masters paint? Hobby Lobby doesn't always have the colors I need and the Testors website is around the same price but you have to pay shipping.

As long as the paint is still sticky it should work. IDK about the primer because I don't use it. I just wash and dry the plastic before painting it. I use brushes, do you use an air brush or a brush?

Just normal brushes. Never got into air brushes, I think you get a little more control with a normal brush.
