So how frustrating is it when looking for marvel universe to constantly see the same handful of figures on the pegs at any and all stores around you? Just thought I would make a thread to see what kinds of figures arent selling at other stores around the country.
Here in MI myself I can get anything from the ironman 2 line, the spiderman villain/hero line and as far as MU go.. usually 1 or 2 spiderman figures and a crap ton of ironman. Comic 2 packs feat sentry and spiderman round out the pack. Never ONCE did I see a juggernaut, or an arch angel (wings) or havock.. mystique.. none of these but boy oh boy do we have lots of ironman. I am so sick of ironman. Ok, so what do you find common around you? |

Sadly I feel like if I don't buy figures off the net, I'll never get them. Stores here all have the standard WALL of Iron Man 2 figs (minus the villains) while MU gets a whopping TWO pegs, half-full of your standard crap (Spider-Man Iron Man and Hobgoblin usually). Sad. It seems like entire months go by with no discernible changes.
I've spoken with employees at my local Toys R Us who told me that basically, Hasbro has a rep that comes in here and there, checks the pegs and it's very black and white. If there are still figures up, they don't get any more, never mind how current their selection is. And God forbid they put any of them on clearance! Faaaa... So, yeah, totally feel your pain here. I've probably had my best luck at the Targets, I found all of their recent exclusive two-packs at the second one I visited (Clackamas) probably just days after I found out about them. Honorable mentions go to the Oak Grove Fred Meyers, they had a World War Hulk on the peg for, like, three days, and once at Toys R Us I saw an Archangel at the front of the peg, who disappeared in the time it took me to walk two isles down and back to check the Spidey line (where I actually found Rhino!) But yeah, Warren was just gone, and the other figures were no shit still swinging on the peg. Are you here, mystery collector? |

Mostly waves from the beginnings of Marvel universe. God do I hate stores in Panama. You may also find Extremis Iron man, Modern Thor, Black Widow, and Luke Cage. Oh, and Bucky.

Wow sounds like dire straights not only nation wide but on a global scale! You have to wonder though how much of this is simply other collectors buying 2 or 3 of something just so they can sling them on ebay.
Now now i know the early bird gets the worm and all that but jeeze man.. leave some for the rest of us. It's interesting to find however that not EVERY stores peg warmers are the same.. for instance I have NEVER seen a juggernaut in a store but I read here that some of you call him a peg warmer? I think this is the kind of thing we should (probably do) have a thread for.. peg warmer swaps haha my modular ironman for your juggernaut etc etc. (no i have a juggy, bought one on ebay!) Nobody said feeding that plastic crack habbit would be easy though, still I HATE spending so much on ebay for what are essentially 8$ figures. It's too bad Hasbro doesnt realise/doesnt care about which figures are MORE popular though. |

I'm from Manila in the Philippines. The usual pegwarmers in our malls are Spiderman, Spiderman, Iron Man, Iron Man, and Iron Man. lol.
But seriously, we still got Spiderman, Iron Man, Ultimate Cap, Guardian, Electro, Ronin, Union Jack, Hobgoblin, Xforce Wolvy, and 1st version Punisher. Come to think of it, we have the SDCC "frozen"/black and white Captain America as peg warmers... they're being sold for around 14 US dollars (600 pesos). For the 2-packs, we have Spidey/Thunderball, Dark Spidey/Dark Wolvy, Ultron/Mr. Fantastic, IM/Spiderwoman SW, Klaw/Cap, Hulk/Cyke, Phoenix/Cyke.. the IM/Thor 2-pack used to warm the pegs last December but they are all gone now. The majority of the IM2 line are also "peg warming" but that's probably because of overstocking. From what I know, they are selling great here. But we still don't have Mandarin, Whiplash comic, and Ultimate IM though. Never seen them here in my country, even in Greenhills (a toy mecca for collectors here). Spidey line also warm the pegs. The only thing that sells are the rare stuffs.. Venom, Carnage, Lizard, Scorpion, and the new Venom fig (never got Rhino).. rest were all peg warmers. Hahaha I am lucky to find a Spider-Man. Finally came across an House of M Spider-Man figure today only to find out it was the only figure from the wave that came in...no Vision today for me =(. I'm not even going to start on Iron Man...uhg. As for Peg Warmers...easily Ronin, Iron Man, Ms Marvel [classic] Namor, Thing [Light Blue Pants] and Human Torch [Dark Blue]. I searched my local walmart [only place we have in town] that carries MU figures to find Ghost Rider, Captain Britain, 2 Multiple Men, Mystique, Colossus. Employee said they where not up for more than 10 minutes. I got extremely lucky, never have I seen them again...except for Colossus, he is now a peg warmer.
My Walmart JUST started to get comic packs in...a lot of them...now they are peg warmers...been there for a few months now. Question: How common is it to find a package variant Spider-Man around? Anyone have one? |

Hi all (long time lurker 1st time poster). Joined at last.
The UK (South East) seems to have Aim Soldiers, Luke Cage, Namor, Black Widow and Iron Man. Few stores seem to consistently carry stock, and those I get lucky with (recent restock) carry non X-Men. I have only ever seen 2 x Waves (or the remains!) around my area since early December I guess? |

Austin = any MU Iron Man you want. Pretty much ditto on the MU Spidermen.
Doesn't Hasbro realize that movie line + Marvel line = overkill for any one character? |

So sick of going to store after store here in Middle Tennessee and seeing Marvel Universe Iron Man and Spider-man figures smashed up in between the Iron Man 2 and Spider-Man toy lines. I wish Hasbro would have learned in the past decades of their producing toys - yes these lines are "kid-centric" however there are also collectors too - don't deluge your lines with the same freaking figures (Iron Man, Wolverine, Spider-man, and you know it's going to be a problem with Captain America and Thor this year.) I get there needs to be redos of the more popular characters but there has to be a limit too - you don't need 4 wolverines, 4 iron mans and 4 spider-man(s?) a year.
Sorry - this is a rant I know and while answers the question does take it a bit beyond. I am just in a discouraged state of collecting right now - this is the only line I'm currently collecting at all and now the Wal-mart resets in the area don't even HAVE a space for Marvel Universe. Probably because they aren't selling their 1,000 Iron Man figures (Iron Men, Iron Manses, Iron Menses?) in BOTH MU and Iron Man 2 lines. So yes....Iron Man. Definitely Iron Man. We don't need any more stinking Iron Men for another two years....we are plenty good and it seems from the previous responses this is not a localized thing. |

I have some limiting factors I live in P.E.I., smallest province in Canada, and no car haha. So when I typically go toy hunting unless I got someone giving me a ride or feel like trying to figure out the bus schedule. I limit/maximize my stops. I have a local walmart and Zellers both have a shit ton of Iron man 2 peg warms, tons of though light up chest things iron man on a fucking 4 wheeler crap. Then the $$,... Mu Zellers has always 3-4 versions of Mrs Marvel, and green hulk, maybe black panther, and spidey which I have. Spider man series is just lam spidey in scuba gear. yay! not.. I find it's luck of the draw and knowing when they restock. I honestly feel on 2-3 occasions they restocked the shelves some other collector came in bought most and left some.. I found a black widow and mystique, and colossus all at walmart, last 1 there, found silver centrium, modern armour iron man at zellers amonst the see of mark 3/iv's. I found a local independant shop that is slowly winning me over he has sdcc thor, cap, and spidey $30 a piece sitting aside for me. he orders in cases of good figures, and gives me a deal if I buy bulk, he's actually talking with hasbro about trying to get me the galactus and sentinel figures, I pay a little more mark up due to being a locally owned buissness, but aww well, rather he have my $$ then walmart. I like the idea of the pegwarmer swap though.. because if someone had an extra arcbangel, vision, warpath, bullseye etc I'd gladly pick up a mrs marvel or w.e peg warmering its way around me that was of trade value..

In my part of the UK (south-west) the peg warmers are still Iron Man 2 figures (wave 1) and, amazingly, some Wolverine Origins stuff. The Spiderman series (wave 1 again) are everywhere.
Marvel Universe figures DO NOT appear in retail. Actually, tell a lie...I saw a random selection of Bucky, Namor and Black Widow at a Toys R Us. That's been it. I look in toy shops simply because they're enjoyable places to be in but never think i'll actually see a toy I don't have. All my purchases are online at the moment, either through pro-sellers or ebay. I'm actually looking forward to a whole new range of peg warmers this summer, with the Cap and Thor movie lines coming out. At the least i'll be able to guarantee new toys on shelves...and probably then for the next 12-16 months. |

Here in Canada, we seem to be dominated by Luke Cage, Red Hulk, tonnes of MU Iron Man pieces and Blade.

Damn, never seen a Blade fig here. Hopefully these revision cases help to un-flock this situation and maybe keep the scalpers in check.

My Local ASDA carried the line for a short time (Thor). I even think they may have had an earlier line (Vision) in stock at some point when I wasnt really 'into' the Marvel Line. They seemed to get too many Peg Warmers and pulled the line. Tesco stocks Marvel (Thor, Bucky, the usual suspects). But ditto, Toys R Us doesnt stock them. Generally to collect this line its Ebay, Kapow Toys or bust. The sad thing is if I am unable to collect (admit it, we all enjoy the thrill of the chase to a point) I will likely cease collecting MU as I won't pay much over retail price. The local K-Marts have put the MU Iron Man's and Spider-Man's on clearance for less than $2 at least twice. They build back up, like mercury in the food chain. It's hideous.
Retailers must be selling a lot of Iron Man, or it would be even worse, but there's been what? Forty or fifty new Iron Man figures in the last two years? I was at a Wal-Mart today with 5 different MU Iron Man figures. On the one hand, it's genius. Give a kid fifty Iron Man armors, and he'll think of someone to be in every armor. ("This one's my brother Hayden, this one's the Grandpa from Ben 10.") On the other hand, it seems like a waste for collectors and kids. If they're want to do eighty repaints, that's great but either make them fun, or make them interesting. I could put six-year-olds in a room for half-an-hour and they could come up with better deluxe figure ideas. The 2011 Iron Man toys are toy line uselessness. Two or three years from now, parents will be buying them at Dollar General for $4 figure for their kid who was just now old enough to see the movie. "Why is he yellow and white?" "I don't know, but it's either him or the old guy from Avatar 2." Last edited by DrewBlank; 02-24-2011 at 06:01 PM.. Reason: typo |
