Hey guys. Just a quick, easy tip for displaying figures. All you need is a metal wire hanger,

a set a pliers (preferably with wire cutters),

a little elbow grease, and some paint if you'd like.

Here's how:

1. Take the hanger and cut off the curved head.
2. Bend the first holding prong to make the first half of the letter "C" that will hold your figure.
3. Bend the first boom arm.
4. Bend the elbow making a < sign.
5. Bend the base. You'll want to make a triangle out of the base for stability. Keep in mind that you want the figure to hang just forward of the center of the triangle for balance.
6. After your done with the base work your way back up twisting the metal around slightly to keep it together. You can actually bend it in such a way that the boom arm can create slight pressure on the figure later on.
7. Bend the last holding prong to finish the letter "C" that will hold your figure.
8. You can paint the Poor Man's Flight Stand to match your display background. You can also paint the holding prongs the figure's color. If your worried about scratching, a little sanding will round off the sharp edges from cutting of the hangers hook. You can also try heat shrink or those colored radio antenna heads.

Have fun and don't hurt your self!

Yea those and the stage act series are great. The problem is finding them in stock. I tried eBay and after a month wait for delivery from over seas... They were lost in shipping! So I said... I'll just make my own. Obviously not as fancy as clear plastic but a much cheaper alternative.

great, now my partner will wonder why I'm going through the closets like a maniac and hoarding all the metal coat hangers...might have to call my mom and dad and go through their closets as well. I should invest in the plastic hangar industry too.

The ones from hlj.com are great. I agree that you have to catch them when they are in stock but they are great. They come with 3 different clasps and the base is big enough to hold bigger figures. They are a bit on the pricey side especially shipping overseas with tracking. I wish there was some local shops that sell these. I also looked around for them at sdcc but to no avail.

I know it sucks! HLJ has been on "backorder" for months now. I've been looking for the Stage act 3 or 4 locally and all I found was a big fat doughnut. BBTS had them but they're all sold out. I'm worried about trying eBay again after the last fiasco. So for now this will do just fine. If you camo paint them to your background the right way you'll never see them.

yeh, I like HLJ, but the exchange rate, and shipping and tracking does add up, you really need to make a bulk order to make it worth while, as a $5 stand will probably end up costing me like $15-20 by the end of it

I finally found the time to do this, and it looks awesome!

Also being in Bolivia and not having any sandpaper, I improvised and used sellotape. Works like a charm

This is a very cool idea, and adding the heat shrink is a nice touch. Now I know what I can do with all the extra hangers that I have

Thanks! One of these days I'll get on taking pics of it holding something heavier. It should hold a voyager class no prob depending on the type hanger you use.
