I wasn't sure about getting into the Predator line but between the awesomeness of these and the upcoming Xeno from AVP, I finally caved in. Though Scar is the one I'm looking for the most, the other two are going to be great companions. I also like that Scar's face doesn't look as cute as he was in the movie. I always prefer movie accuracy but this was a nice move from NECA.

You forgot the "d" in "cardback," sorry for nitpicking about spelling.

Maybe it really IS a carback. Like, it goes in the back of your car so when you're rollin' in your 5.0 peeps know you're down with Predator.

I've been putting the release timeline in just about every news story on these.

Man, that cardback bums me out. Like, those figures are gonna look sooo stupid with letters all over them. They didn't look like that in the movie.

Mmm... What do you guys think waist art. will be? To me it seems obvious to go with a ball joint and at first I was sure it was but this last set of pictures left me wondering cause it kinda looks like a swivel since I feel it really restricted but then again that is why I'm asking you. Opinions plox Mr. Joe! Oh and thanks!

So glad that it looks like the blades are removable on these guys. Those things were a breakage nightmare on the Mcfarlane versions back in the day.

The blades on my McFarlane ones actually never broke, which very much surprises me. These figures having some swap-off armor at least sounds pretty neat.

You must have got lucky then. While the longer sword ones on the forearms remained in tact, the ones on the wrists on mine never survived more than a second tumble from the shelf, and that includes the duplicate figures I had. They were better than the Movie Maniac predator figures however. Those things might as well been made of fine porcelain...

My AVP preds never fell since I always had them on their bases which is probably why they're still okay last I checked, though the same can't be said for the spears on their backs. I recall the tips of those things breaking off just holding the figure by the torso so I could move the arms or whatever. I never got the Movie Maniacs Predator figures but I did get the City Hunter with the plug on/off hand from their Alien and Predator mini-line (which were pretty much all just slightly tweaked versions of the MM figures) and that thing broke in so many places over time it's a wonder I didn't just trash it eventually. I also remember thinking the pose he was in was kinda dumb but I'm still happy to have had it when I did, it has a level of sentimental value since it was a gift from family but otherwise it wasn't that good of a figure.
Argh...I remember those horrible spears....not to mention those laughable hinged parts for the plasma casters would always break off as well if you so much as dropped it once. I had a deep love for my McFarlane preds, but by the time I finally decided to part with them, man were they a hot mess of glued parts and mods due to broken pieces. All except my Xeno from the AVP two pack, and the egg display that came with it. That figure is still awesome, with not a single broken part, and I actually like the eggs from the Mcfarlane base better than the recent NECA ones. I am really glad NECA got around to doing these, despite how ridiculous some of the designs for that movie was. I'm not sure what I'm looking more forward to though, this wave, or the upcoming wave with the prototype Big Chap! |

You mean the "Van Damme" version?
It would be interesting to say the least...but I kinda hope not. I'd rather get some of the others they haven't gotten around to yet from the videogames, or some original designs like what they did with Viper Predator. |

yeah the Van Damme, I doubt they'll get to a proto-pred though, Big Chap is easy, just cast the existing figure in white and clear with a bit of paint, but the original concept Pred would be all new tooling, he's just too different from the final product. that said they could do it for a Con exclusive, and get some mileage by doing it in colored, pink, and clear variants. Triv, has there been any confirmation of when series 14 is suppose to hit shelves?

My BBTS pre-order says late December for Series 14, and usually they are pretty on point with their releases, at least with my experiences. I'd keep posted here or on NECA's facebook though, as NECA often releases them on their ebay site a week or two before they start trickling out to online retailers and stores. Usually, NECA has some sort of Predator release that comes out just before Christmas every year, so I'm assuming this year will be no different. |

I think most people wouldn't actually recognize the concept Predator if they saw it, not like how the concept Big Chap pretty much looks the same.

Yeah, the concept Predator is so far out there compared to the official one. Don't know if it would be worth it. There would have to be extraordinary demand for it.
