I think having been born in '72 and enjoying a great string of 80s cartoons, right now is the best block of shows at once since then!
Young Justice - Pure win! Art is great and enough guest appearances and comic refs to keep any DC fan happy. GI Joe Renegades - Good update on the classic. Better than the movie and just a little short of Resolute. Transformers Prime - Better than the movies. Longer I watched the more the animation grew on me. Megatron and Soundwave designs are awesome! Avengers - Animation is a little rough but it keeps me watching. Thundercats - Just around the corner! At the end of each of the current shows, I want the next right away! Plus can't wait for figure lines from each show!

Yeah, too bad most people can't watch them because they are all on premium channels now. I have to download everything thing from the net.

None of those are premium. (Premium is Showtime, hbo, cinemax etc) U-verse basic has them all. Charter has Disney XD and CN in the normal package as do other cable companies, and Hub is in the digital package. Satellite is a different mess. Demand for these channels and ratings is how they get paid through ad revenue. So downloads just up the chance of them getting canceled.
Almost all offer a way to watch them online legitly too. Whether it's marvel.com, disneyxd.com, or even cartoon network.com the only one that doesn't as yet as these were just previews is prime and renegades which hopefully will grace hubworld next week as they air normally. Downloading's going to become harder anyway as sites are being shut down left and right thanks to a new internet law about domain seizure. Torrent sites and knock-off sites are getting domains taken faster and faster now. ------- All were fantastic though I'm not so sure on the 'gruff' voice YJ, it was still good. Prime was stellar, renegades was fantastic, and avengers always pleases. Last edited by Snowflakian; 11-27-2010 at 01:05 PM.. |

I disagree with the sentement that this the best time for cartoons, and this is why.
I personally feel that this is a dying art form. While there are a lot of good shows on air, and have been on air in the past few years, we almost never see anything that ranks up there with the likes of Gargoyles (Granted, that was really rare even back then). Most companies are backing out of traditional animation for more flashy CGI, or worse. For cheaply produced flash animation, like half of Cartoon Network's crap. Moreover, the grand tradition of Saturday Morning Cartoons is dead. CW, the last major channel to still do this only shows bad anime. That said, there are some really great shows out there. Currently running good ones for me: Ben 10, Generator Rex, Clone Wars, Sybionic Titan, MLP:FiM, Avengers, Phineas & Ferb New to the list: Young Justice (Has the potential to be the best show on air) GI Joe: Renegades- I *hate* Joe. I've never given two shakes about this franchise. But this show is *good.* And on the horizon what I'm looking forward to? Avatar: The Legend of Korra Honorable mentions- Batman: TaS, Justice League, Gargoyles, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Kim Possible, Transformers Animated, Beast Wars, Beast Machines. The jury's still out on Prime for me. The animation is aweful, the CG is terrible, and the story and designs take too much from the god aweful movies. But I like the characterizations, save for Bumblebee. Needs a lot of improvement. |

I would have to agree with Crazy Jetty, at least as to the quality of most cartoons today. There are a few but most are hard to catch. I miss the good-old-days, when all you had to do was wake up early enough on a Saturday morning and it was one cool cartoon after another. Times have changed.

I say it's the golden age of content because, in addition to new shows, every old show is readily available, too.
