I don't have high hopes personally, but we'll see if anything materializes.

If it happened I would actually consider picking up some part-time work there since when I was a kid it was my favorite place on earth!

Yay! That is welcomed good news.

If KB Toys actually pulls it off, they could set up shop at the liquidating Toys R'Us stores.

Yet the headline you used makes it sound like you pooped a brick when you head the news...

Yeah, same here. I can't count the number of "major announcements" that have been made over the years that never amounted to anything, especially something of this magnitude. It's like when Quentin Tarantino discusses one of the eight billion different projects he's going to be working on next that never happen.

If it were to come back though, how similar would it be to the old KB? My fondest memories of the store was that they still sold older stock of toy lines, like Spiderman Animated. I highly doubt that this will be the case any longer.

It will be completely different. It has to be. But my guess is it will have a nostalgic look to it, as that's what this firm specializes in.

Wonder if they would follow all those Halloween shop models, they're only open for a couple months before the holiday?

A few years ago the TRU opened a temp store in the mall near their permanent store but only had that open during the holiday season.

Yup.
Man you could get stuff like the MGS2 figures until right up before they went out of business.

I remember going to the KB Toys at the mall during my childhood, my mom would spend at least 2-3 hours looking at dresses she would never wear at Sears and JC Penney's, but once we set foot in KB it was MY time to dragg ass looking at stuff I wanted I want them to come back, and have the same layout as my old one: Toys stocked to the ceiling, rows and rows of action figures, a little display up front of wind-up toys all going at once... Wishful thinking, I know!

Go KayBee... Go KayBee... I liked both KayBees... the one that was in its prime and had all the latest toys and the one that you went to just to see if the Micro Machines were on sale.

They are probably trying to replace all those toysrus express stores that would pop up during christmas time a few years back and won't be there anymore once TRU shuts down for good.

Man I hope this becomes a reality. I too am skeptical, but this would be amazing! They need to carry better products. Focus on collectors, while still carrying stuff kids want. Just don’t carry junk that never sells. That was the issue with the old KB. A lot of stuff that never moves.

I wonder if they will go back to be mall locations or if they would maybe take over TRU stores. I don't recall ever seeing a KB that wasn't in a mall, in my area anyway.

I doubt they will take over full TRU retail locations. Those are massive spots and KB was only in Malls or strip malls. Plus this is going to be a thrown together, last minute opening to capitalize on TRU closing. Expect it to be slow going and small on the outset.
