Recently bought a couple MU figs from eBay, unfortunately I opened the package and smoke smell was overwhelming. Any tips? Be advised I'm one of those MIP addicts, just wondering if there are any proven remedies for getting the smell out of the cardboard itself.
Thanks guys! |

Vinegar. Just pour some white vinegar in a small bowl and lay the card on top of said bowl. I have never tried it, but bowls of white vinegar is a well known way of removing smoke smell from the air/items in a house.

Another suggestion would be a container with a lid (like a big plastic tub) and a box of baking soda. Open the box of BS, place into the container with the offending toy, close the lid and check back in a couple of days. Voila! No more ashtray smell. If the odor is still there, re-close the lid and check it again in a day or two.
With the bowl of vinegar idea I'd also recommend using a plastic tub or similar container, rather than setting the card/box directly on top of the bowl. There's enough acidity in the vinegar that the fumes might damage the cardboard/plastic if it's too close.

Baking Soda is the best. I have also used Coffee Grounds or coffee beans in the same situation. I have a plastic tub specifically for this purpose. Good luck!

Arm and Hammer baking soda, even says removes smells on the package. As the other gentlemen mentioned, works great, get yourself a sealed container, ie 1 with a lid, place the figures inside and open a box of baking soda place the box inside with the figures, seal the container, wait a day or 2 and reopen, the smell should be gone or at least less noticable. Keep it in longer for better results.

I'm sure I wasn't the first to see it. It's very obvious.

A little advice, a little subtextual humor...what's not to like?
