That look cool, but I've been burned too many times by MonsterArts to care at this point. The Ghidorah design is outstanding though. I'll see what NECA's versions are going to look like

You know, I think this version of Godzilla will probably die from obesity
Jokes aside, I still love the fat Godzilla design over the older ones or 98 one! Can't wait for the movie! |

We don't talk about the Heisei era though. Yuck.

I don't mind a chunky Godzilla. Monsters that scale should have some heft to help sell the size.
Assuming this is close to screen accurate (I know, I know) the proportions feel a little better this time out, and I'm glad the fins are closer to the old "Christmas tree" look. Ghidorah looks amazing. Very happy they stuck with two horns on Rodan rather than the more modern three. As for Mothra, that's the monster I was most curious about how they would make her work. Not sure I like the new design, but that may just be the newness. Will need to see her in action. |

Really torn on the Legendary figures. they look great- but it's a lot of $$$ for monsters i may not even end up incorporating into my display seeing as how I already have classic Toho versions...

Derpy eyes (I went through 3 Kiryu Gojis and had to settle for the one that sucked the least).
Loose joints that fall apart easily. Poorly assembled wings. Bad paint apps. They're $100 toys with the quality control of a Happy Meal toy.

I'm pretty happy with the Monsterarts ones I have. The spec. color King Ghidorah is one of my favorite pieces by far. I admittedly don't have too many of their Godzilla's, but the '54 is great and the larger Biollante one is really good too other than limited neck movement from the electronics.

I've stayed away from Bandai in hopes of NECA...

Ghidorah's priced about where I expected it to be, Godzilla on the other hand is much cheaper than I anticipated. Here's hoping quality control doesn't fall by the wayside, as it did with Bandai's previous Ameri-Goji and Ghidorah first run figures.

Like yourself I haven't experienced any significant issues with any of my eight Monsterarts figures. I know they exist (especially with the 2014 Godzilla and first run Ghidorah), they just don't seem as common as the internet makes them seem. My figures have come from BBTS, Nippon Yassan, Amazon and Ebay. Not a single one of my figures have any obviously sloppy paint applications, nor do they have random hairs or fingerprints. My figures are also free of wonky ball joints, stuck joints. A few have minimally skewed eyes but I can live with a defect that requires deliberate effort to notice. By way of comparison, I own four NECA Shin Godzillas (2 originals, 2 atomic blast). The tail flops about lazily on two of the four. One of the four remains unopened, so who knows if the number is actually 3/4? |

Those look amazing.
However, I'm going to wait and see what NECA has to offer. I'm certain they're going to put their best foot forward and their King Ghidorah will be their most expensive Godzilla figure to date, but I'm sure it won't even be half the price of the MonsterArts offering. |

There seems to be an abundance of complaints regarding quality, but I suspect your experience to be fairly typical.

I don't like the high prices so I just wait it out on Amazon for them to get like a 30% discount or something; I'd limit it to like $60ish for a Godzilla size figure. I really want that poster Mechagodzilla they did but a bit too high priced for me like I said. If NECA's '62 Godzilla is as good as it looks though, I'll wait out a lot of releases to see what they do first too. |

So what's so different about the King of Monsters Godzilla compared to the 2014 one?
And...am I the only one who wants them to do a '98 Zilla figure? |

You might not be the ONLY one wanting it but it would be a minority opinion since most fans hate that movie and Zilla, but hey who knows maybe one day it'll get a figure anyway.

The main "new" feature is that his dorsal plates have a bit more of the classic shapes where the 2014 design's were all jagged and rocky. Otherwise I'd imagine it's just minor touches of upgrade that comes with 4 new years of technology.

The first Ghidorah's wings and the derpy eyes have been an issue beyond just a few internet posts.
