here is the mask when I first put it together:
and here it is now: any feedback and or suggestions are welcome, please lol, below are some pics of what I was aiming for it to look like: recipe: Darth Vader helmet destro sdcc 2 pack iron mask tornado kick snake eyes blade weapon for helmet decor, also for the more brownish look I was going for I sanded the mask down and left some silver hue in for a frown line type effect. That's a neat looking WIP, dude. That piece is just plain cool. Might I suggest simply using Silver Samurai's body with some minor modifications and repainting?

Yeah, that's the cool part. If you coat Silver Samurai in a black basecoat, he would be barely recognizable which is a good thing. You could even add different accents and textures/padding to his armor before basecoating. Then use the head as a colour guide. I'm thinking brown, black, a dark worn iron drybrushing with lighter brown/orangy accents would look very cool and very classically Japanese. You've already got those colours on your headpiece, so adding the lighter brown/orangy highlights after giving it a fleshtone ink wash would definitely give it that whole glossy mask look you got in some of those pics.

No, I mean coat the whole thing in several very thin layers of thinned out black paint. Eventually, it just makes the whole thing black without destroying any detail with thick gobs of paint. Alternatively, you can just spraypaint him with very light coats of black paint, each time just spraying lightly and allowing him to dry before the next coat until applying the next one. It's a long agonizing process but it looks great afterwards. You can barely tell that it was painted.

Secondly, listen to thechris,he knows his stuff,i always completely undercoat with black,it gives you a smooth surface to work from, and when you paint, highlight, and drybrush the detail, the black will naturally fill the recesses that should be in shadow.... |
