I like the box 'blank' for item #1, it has an 80's feel to it.

The first one -- my guess based on the box shape is that it's the Narcissus (the Nostromo's escape pod), scaled for 3 3/4" figures.
A smaller version of it (which included tiny Ripley and Alien figures) was once available: Narcissus (Action Fleet) |

I'd actually like that Alien playset to use as a display piece for my MonsterArt version...

I am the biggest fan of playsets!!!! That one is COOL! It would look good with just about any Alien line in just about any scale I think.

Yep, that retro Alien playset is awesome. Retro playsets, vehicles, and accessories will really heighten the collectibility of these guys. A Serenity playset would probably force me to buy 2 sets (loose & MOC) of Firefly figs. I also love the little girl on the Alien playset box.
Other playsets should inlude... - Camp Crystal Lake - Elm Street Boiler Room - Terminator Future Earth - Texas Chainsaw Dining Room - South American Jungle w/ hanging, de-skinned bodies - One-Eyed Willie Pirate Ship

Hey reaction and Funko!
That sucks! Why make it an exclusive? Why not release it to more people? Imaginext can make frickin playsets that are bigger than this! I am SURE there is a lot of people that follow Alien that would buy one. I would. But I am not traveling nor doing Ebay for a jacked up price one.

Only 250 of that beautiful playset? Bummer, I would have started collecting Alien if I had one. I guess if I were able to get one, it would need an acrylic case and be an investment piece. I wanted one to play with though!!! Guess neither of those will happen anyway as they will be what two, two and a quarter.plus shipping on the aftermarket. I would have probably removed eggs and put a throne on it for MU Thanos though.... for $35.
Still love the girls face though...classic! Exclusives are awesome IF you have one, but when you don't you feel the fat kid in the line waiting to be picked in dodgeball. Thanks for making me the fat kid Funko.... my cat died recently, why don't you just make fun.of me about that too Funko or maybe take my milk money.....jerks! unFunko.... *sticks out tongue towards them and walks away with head down and kicking rocks*

Yeah, 250 is a joke. That's way too few of them for the potential demand. Even people attending SDCC have little chance of getting this thing if there's only 250 of them made. It will probably sell out within an hour, and mostly to scalpers who will have it up on Ebay by the end of SDCC weekend for $300-500.
I would have ordered this in an instant if it was available on BBTS or other online sites. Why couldn't they just offer a uniquely packaged version at SDCC and then another mass online retail release in different packaging for everyone else who wants the playset? What a waste of tooling and production costs if they only bother to sell 250 of these. I bet they could easily sell 10-20 times that amount for the same price and profit a lot more. Does Funko just not want our money? So stupid. Last edited by ShabbyBlue; 07-04-2014 at 09:04 PM.. |

Toy collectors can easily reproduce this entire thing. Scan/photograph the background & print copies. And you could reproduce the base with a 1 piece mold. I could make a perfect duplicate with some Amazing Mold Rubber & Amazing Casting resin.
With the right printer & software you could even reproduce the box. I'm sure a non-scalper could reproduce this & sell it to anybody that can't get their hands on the original. It's not like a Transformer that has a million intricate parts that have to fit together perfectly. It's just a crappy base like the Star Wars Land Of The Jawas playset. A good sculptor could make an even better movie accurate set. All the stuff you need is out there, printers, mold rubber, casting resin, paint, sculpting tools & training videos on Youtube. This is stupid easy to make yourself. I'm currently working on a duplicate of Fewture's Aflodai because I LOVE female robots. And I'm going to improve on the original by using Revoltech joints & adding chest waist articulation. I'm also doing the same thing to an Aflodai resin kit I got from Asia. Once you get the hang of it, it's really easy. Last edited by Catatronic; 07-09-2014 at 01:10 AM.. |

I'd really love to have one of these (I have pretty much the rest of the line at this point) but I'm not going to SDCC and even if I were I don't think I'd have a good chance of getting one if it's limited to 250 pieces. Do we think they might re-release this in the "black" packaging like they did with the figures? (The blue cards were the SDCC exclusives and then the black cards were the general release.)

They are offering a variant Egg Chamber for pre-order during SDCC. Made to order so everyone can get one that wants one.
