While I support NECA and think they are releasing way better toys (for the price) than Hasbro/Mattel, these are some pretty lame exclusives.

It is pretty lame that they have to censor them in the first place. They don't censor the movie poster at the theater. I mean someone might freak out if they see the word ASS in print on a package. And if this country did not have a censorship stick up it's ASS it would not have a problem with The Motherfucker either. I am pretty sure nowhere else in the world would need these censored but here in the US.

Admittedly, I don't know what it's like in other countries when it comes to profanity use, but "Motherfucker" is a pretty hardcore term no matter how you slice it. I wouldn't want my kids seeing a figure like that in the toy store, mainly because I don't want them to repeat it without understanding what it meant. Censoring Kick-Ass is totally silly, but "Motherfucker" isn't exactly standard dialogue, and why should it be? It's on the misogynistic, bad end of the sexual spectrum... But I digress. I know censorship is bad and all, but I think names like that are the reason parents freak out in the first place. How do you go about explaining that to an 8 year old?

Yeah, MF'er might be a bit much but I don't think any retail chains like TRU will even carry the figures. I am guessing even the censored ones will only end up at online places and maybe Hastings. IF TRU does get the censored ones I get changing MF but the whole KICK-ASS name cover up is just dumb.

When I said lame, I meant that they are only packaging variants and there is nothing different about the figure. Out of the package, you wouldn't know which is the wide release and which is an SDCC exclusive. Their other exclusives, such as the albino pred, are much more...imaginative and seem like less of a money grab.

I completely agree that censoring "ass" is pretty stupid. Also, are we sure TRU won't get these? It seems like just the kind of stuff they'd carry, but maybe I'm wrong. Seems like they always get NECA stuff in.

And to add to the original convo, it does seem like a shameless cash grab. A change in the packaging would never be enough for me, but then again I'm not a MOC collector.

I agree with everyone on "ass" being censored. I mean i'm not going to go see the movie and say "two/three for kick a." paying $15+ more for a set of uncensored packaging is just plain stupid in my opinion. i'm sure they will be sold on their ebay store or their site after the con for those who really want to waste their extra cash on these...

It is so hard to say who will play the "I gotta be PC about what I carry" game, I get 80% at least of my toys online anyway. But NECA stuff does seem to show up at TRU a lot, so I bet the get them.
