Very happy to see this version happening as an ultimate. Love that he will come with that damaged head that we didn't get with the last one. Can't wait to see more.

Agreed...the "splattered" head was one I really wanted to come with the previous Ultimate figure. Glad we're finally getting it!

What else would an "ultimate" version of this outfit include, exactly? Only thing I can think of is the helmet head and maybe some new guns.

I was thinking about that too. MP5? Black/yellow arm (director's cut)? Steel mill rod? Blown apart torso? Photo of John lol.

Maybe a full upper body interchangeable piece, like the McFarlane figure, where he exploded from the middle and was all deformed before falling into the molten lead.

Pretty good likeness of Robert Patrick, IMHO!
Now, if NECA releases a special edition police hog (motorcycle)... |

I said it once and I'll say it again I don't think this figure is worthy of the "ultimate line." I felt the same way about the Ultimate T1 T-800 Police Station Assault figure. An updated standard release for sure but not an ultimate. Here are my reasons
1. The only thing new about the figure is the updated lower leg articulation. 2. Most of the "new" accessories added to the figure are parts that the previous Ultimate T-1000 had or should have had like the exploded head. 3. The Motorcycle Cop T-1000 never was seen without its helmet in all of T2 so giving us the standard T-1000 head is not only inaccurate, but not necessary and strange since this figure is specifically called T-1000 Motorcycle Cop. 4. What could have really made this figure an Ultimate piece is if it had a new swappable upper torso and head to match this the scene when it gets shot up by the T-800 in the Liquid Nitrogen Truck as shown in the picture links below. At least then it would have pieces that are specific to this character. And since they are giving this figure accessories that aren't even specific to this look why not at least throw in another arm blade to sweeten the deal? I'm just throwing suggestions out here. All in all the figure looks good and I guess the "extra" accessories are good for those who either didn't have the original motorcycle cop T-1000 or didn't get the recent T-1000, But it doesn't fall into the ultimate criteria of NECA figures. I'll definitely be getting it, but I can't help but think that not much thought was put into this specific "Ultimate" figure and a lot of the bonus accessories this figure comes with were only thrown in to justify and ultimate title. |

While I agree that actually making this figure "ultimate" feels weird I'll disagree about the police shootout T-800. That's mainly because I'm biased against the '80s fashion of the Tech Noir T-800 and the police station shootout itself is a highlight of the first Terminator. The alternate heads and hands with the police shootout figure allowed you to change it into the final chase version which I do think helps add to its "ultimate" value.

Is this figure actually going to have articulated knees? It doesn't look like it.

It most likely will, this is probably just an early in progress image to show us what to expect with the overall look. The same thing has happened with kind of a lot of NECA teases (like the VGA T-800 T2 figure) where the tease is less than final.

You only get one official look from the T-1000 and three accessories/ weapons that it was supposed to come with. So when you're paying a slightly higher price for a figure that really doesn't come with that much it just makes me feel like we didn't get the "Ultimate" value. |

On this new version it looks like they kept that same design at the knee with the insert molded pin going into the boot rather than the leg. This means the figure won't be able to swivel side to side at the knee and instead will only be able to rotate at the boot similar to Weyland-Yutani Commando figure from Alien Series 8. The new hip articulation should help with some of this, but because the figure is still slightly pre-posed at the knee before the articulation starts it means you'll never be able to get this figure standing up completely straight. And the packaged shot leads me to believe that that is the final production figure so I don't think we're going to see an updates and modifications to it before its released. I’ll reserve my final judgments when I get the figure in hand and see reviews. Again it’s not a deal breaker, but I feel like this figure has taken so many shortcuts to maintain an Ultimate title and even with that still has issues. |
