Where do you all get your local books? Here in Winchester VA I go to Four Color Fantasies . Great place, the owner gets lots of good books and other things. Mike knows I love Silver Age books, and Golden Age too so he always puts a couple books aside when he buys for me to peruse, and yes I am a sucker so I put the books in my box. Right now I am paying on a Tales of Suspense #39, (first Iron Man) and I have a few other books aside. Since I am a suscriber he holds otheres in my box, knowing I am like a crack addict, for later purchases. Of course I do get them and clear the box just in time for another Journey into Mystery or a Tales to Astonish or Suspense to show up. can't afford toys either.
Well here are a few pics to show off what he has for comics and other things. The wall is changed monthly with a theme and the case is swamped out each week. Superman books ended two weeks ago and not they are up into the "T's" New stuff |

Other things
And now a fraction of th 40,000 back issues Recently he has opened up a set of tables for series that are not as hot as the others. This stock will rotate every few weeks so something new is always there. He is setting up a set of boxes with a buck a book for those looking for a quick fix. He has every comic on his data base that is for sale and if it is not on a shelf Mike is more than happy to get it for you. Just because you don't see it doesn't mean he doesn't have it. But no matter where I look I can't find an outside pic, what a dunce!! Ok I have shown mine I want to see yours!!! Pics and bio please |

Here's the big jaw-dropping one I go to-
TATE'S - See the Store Tate's cool as hell too. But weekly, I hit this tiny shop called CJ's comics for the best hookup ever- loose figs and parts, dirt cheap in giant plastic bins and a constantly updating inventory too! For toy customs, it's the best thing ever. As awesome as tate's is, I can drop way more cash in CJ's. |

Those bins are very nice. Keeps it classy.
Here's some pictures from the comic store I go to. It's called "I Want More Comics". They just recently moved to a new location that's a lot bigger. Anyhow here's a couple of pictures with descriptions. Glass case with variants and rarities. Snapshot from their Justice League Midnight release. They were actually able to get the B&W 1 in 200. Funny thing is that someone came in that exact same day and sold them a 'Very Good' copy of Brave and the Bold #28 (First appearance ever of the JLA). New books are lined up on racks like so. Older issues (up to two months or so) are kept on the racks and then later bagged & boarded up to be filed in back issue boxes. Early shot from when they were moving in. On the wall is where they show case variants and Silver Age books. This extra room is mainly used for Magic the Gathering tournaments and other events. This picture is from their Black Friday sale of unsorted back issues. It was mainly stuff they had just bought or traded for so that's why they were unsorted. This is a snap shot from Free Comic Book Day. Back wall of the store is trades and figures. Left hand side is Marvel with their respective figures. Other side is DC with similar set up. Then there are some more shelves in front for other Trade Paperbacks from Darkhorse, Image, etc. My store also decided to take part in the variant covers of the Amazing Spider-Man #666 & Godzilla #1. I mainly shop here due to their hold slot. Also only 10 minutes away from home doesn't hurt either. If you collect 5 - 24 titles a month... 15% discount on new titles 20% discount on Trade Paperbacks and Hard Covers 10% discount on all other items in store, excluding clearance, discount bin, and sales If you collect over 25 titles a month... 20% discount on new titles 20% discount on Trade Paperbacks and Hard Covers 10% discount on all other items in store, excluding clearance, discount bin, and sales Our Hold Slot program also includes the new Back Issue Bucks! Back Issue Bucks are a new addition where every $50.00 dollars spent before tax you earn $5.00 dollars in Back Issue Bucks. Back Issue Bucks are accumulative and can only be used for Back Issues. Back Issue Bucks excludes high end books, Silver, Golden, sales and special offers. The Back Issue Bucks are for the price of the comic, discounts will not apply. They also have an EBAY store: I Want More Comics Last edited by LXL_Guy; 05-25-2012 at 06:22 PM.. |

I like how the comic shops are very distinct with their own little touches.

I would, but the kid that works at my LCS gave me a weird look when I was walking into a resale shop with some of my figures as he was walking out, it was awkward. Also, the owner is kind of a spaz, and they wouldn't order a Mr. Freeze for me. For a small business, they sure didn't seem to want my $$$.

For those who don't know in the boo "Seduction of the Innocent" that was produced to show comics were bad for kids it was featured init. Hard to find issue and he has said many people have looked at it. He also just got in 400 or so books mostly from Silver Age and he has a run of X-Men 17 to 61 among the Journeys and other things. There is really only one true comic store in my area, that I know of anyway, is Comically Speaking Great store. It's actually been awhile since I"ve been there. Newbury Comics is popular here, but they are mostly music and kitchy kind of stuff. And some comics.
