I've recently assembled my first BAF on ML in a matter of months. The one I'v finally put together was the Ult. Green Goblin one from the ASM 2 line. All of the figures were relatively easy to get save for Black Cat & Carnage. I didn't get Carnage from this line but i got a used Spidey Classics one (with the drippy mouth, base & articulated hands) but I got Black Cat after my usual toy store's owner informed me of the restocking. I was so proud of myself for finally getting a full BAF after I got a near perfectly painted Boomerang & Electro. These last two saw many misaligned or missing eyes or frontal & mask paint bleeding or spotting on Electro & Boomerang respectively. Luckily my patience was rewarded in time when I saw 95% perfectly painted figures.
I am now a figure or two away from getting all of Groot & Jubilee respectively as well. I just wanted to ask about any trial or conquest stories you guys may have.

Me either. And no Groot to boot!
All of my BAF conquests have been fairly easy, minus Ronan, Fin Fang Foom and Ares (still on the hunt for the odd piece). Thanks to you Arker's who have helped me out BTW! I found out too late that a discount store in my city had Foom figs for $7 each, and the Ares series in WM's! Oh the pain of it all! Lol! There is still joy in the hunt for me, it's just a little different than driving around is all.

Well I found all of ultimate green goblin at target one time but the most trouble with a baf I had was with fin fang foom. (Note that he came out in 2008) I remember I went to toys r us and I got all the figures except she hulk (came with head) who I was gonna wait to get later. That was a bad mistake because I ended up buying her online but 5 years later! I searched every comic store and toy store but ended up having to use amazon (buying online is my last resort)

The Only BAF figure conquest I have is roughly five years ago walking into a Wal-mart on an uplanned whim and finding the entire Nemesis wave. Needless to say I bought the whole set, and so glad I did because I only ever saw a random figure here or there afterwards.

I recently got into ML when SM and CA waves came out and love BAF's. Got Galactus, Terrax, Arnim Zola, Mandroid and Mojo done so far. Only need 1 leg for Ultimate Goblin and 2 more for Giant Man. Also working on Sentinel but pretty far away. Would still love to get Blob and Apocalypse.

As far as conquests...I'd have to say Pitt from the Legendary Comic Book Heroes Toybiz line. It was always a matter of finding two figures, Judge Dredd, who was a figure that I only saw a handful of times on the shelf but was never able to get when the line first came out, and Ripclaw, a figure that I had no desire to buy, had seen even less, and had NO intention of paying some of the outrageous prices that he goes for on Ebay. For years, the BAF parts sat unused in a little plastic bag in storage, until I happened upon someone's table at a local toy convention/show last year. There it was....the right arm of Pitt, sitting in a plastic sterilite container full of old, very well played with power rangers, broken toys and other fodder. Fifty cents later, it was mine.
Three months later, as I'm perusing the B/S/T forums here, I come across someone with Dredd. A couple of BAF parts and an old Batman figure that I had lying around end up going out the mail, and in the mail arrives Dredd, the bad ass character I missed the first time around, complete with right leg in tow. Pitt was definitely a labor of love, and it was most certainly worth the wait. I love it when a plan comes together! |

My favorite memory of BAF stuff was the BAF Galactus. I wasn't planning on building him becuase it was expensive, and I was a poor college kid at the time. I just had Bullseye from that wave. Then I was in Target like a day before the 4th of July that year and they had some sale on Marvel Legends, or it was a mistake in their computers, to this day I honestly don't know. I got the entire wave for like $40. It was nuts.

Giantman took me the longest to get, as shipping issues and delay in funding kept putting a deal off between me and a fellow collector. The rest of mine I either bought complete/ traded for or pieced together easy enough. I still need heavy hitters such as Ares, FFF, Ronan, Nemesis, rebuy Apoc, and would love more sentinels.

New to the boards, but a veteran of collecting action figures. I recently got back into Marvel Legends after a 5 year hiatus, and unfortunately missed out on some great waves. A few weeks ago a friend of mine was selling his collection and had a complete BAF Mojo. I snatched it up quickly for $30.00, so I was happy with that. The Captain America series went on clearance at Walmart this week, so I was able to complete Mandroid. Currently I am working on the Sentinel, since I found a leg at a local flea market.
The downside of collecting BAFs for me is most of my figures are still carded and I cannot bring myself to open them lol. That is one reason why I joined this forum, so I can attempt to complete some if not all BAFs. |

Jealous? I know some people who might commit violent acts of crime to get their hands on that Ronan, Fing Fang Foom, and Ares figures...lol.
All kidding aside, that's a pretty awesome set of figs. I just finished Jubilee myself this weekend, making her my 9th complete figure. |
