here is the root of the DC problem. You have Batman fans who want more Batman stuff, Superman Fans who want more Superman stuff, etc for every character and nobody is willing to give an inch

The hard part is when characters are drawn differently by different artists. Like, some people think the DC Direct Arkillo is undersized but all depends on what book you are using as your reference. I guess if they weren't going to use a new buck then he was going to end up the size he did.

As far as I know Atrocitus has always been bigger then Average. The bucks were there. Had they scaled him like Ares or Mongul he would have been closer to comic book. It's the same as your complaint about Superpowers Superman. Or that Superpowers Wonder Woman doesn't come with the Shield or Ax like they Showed at NYTF.

I'd go so far as to say that Terry is probably my favorite Batman. As a kid I thought the show was awesome, it was like if Spider-Man put on a batsuit. The current comic (Batman Beyond Universe in print form, Batman Beyond 2.0 in digital) is freakin' great. They seem to be catching up to the Epilogue episode of JLU, 'cause it looks as though they're delving into the Phantasm stuff mentioned there based on the upcoming covers.

Among my circle of friends who are DC fans, I am the sole fan of Captain Marvel and the Marvel Family, AND I'm the only one who enjoys and appreciates Batman Beyond. They all think I'm crazy because Captain Marvel is my favorite DC character, and because I regard Terry McGinnis as my favorite incarnation of Batman. Nice to find that there are others who actually share my opinion(s) ! |

I always called Billy's hero identity Shazam, simply because I was aware of Marvel's "Captain Marvel" first. Shazam just sounded cooler than captain marvel for the character, what with it being his transformation word.

Personally, I would have preferred if DC had opted to call him Captain Thunder (as he was called on a handful of occasions in the past, as well as in Flashpoint), since the name Captain Marvel is definitely not an option these days. To avoid any confusion, DC could even have called his mini-series in Justice League (and the TPB of that story) "The Power of Shazam: Featuring Captain Thunder". It would have been a nice homage to the 90's era Captain Marvel comic, and also serve to clarify that this character is the New 52 Captain Marvel. But that's just my opinion, lol |

You are not the Sole Captain Marvel fan because I have a near encyclopedic knowledge of Captain Marvel. My first DCUC Figure was Mary Batson (of the Family shes easily my Favorite). For proof of my knowledge the original names of Billy Batson were not CC and Marilyn Batson this was done as part of the Retcon in the 80's after the Crisis and the Black Billy phase

I concede to your knowledge of the character, lol. My knowelgde/readership only extends back to my collection of the 90's era Power of Shazam comics, and a little of the earlier post-CoIE stuff like Shazam: The New Beginning. |

I have always known him as Captain Marvel. That is what he was called in JLU. That is what he is called in the comics I have. I don't buy this Shazam bullshit, especially when that is the word he uses to transform. It just doesn't make sense. Now when he introduces himself, he can't say his name or he transforms back. That is just fugging retarded.

Here is the history behind the name.....
In 1940 Wilford Fawcett, C.C. Beck, and Bill Parker got together to create a "New" character for their comic books. What they were looking for was a Character to compete with Superman and Batman. Initially Ralph Daigh came up with the Idea of having 6 heroes combined into 1 man. So they developed Captain Thunder (this was originally Captain Marvels name). Due to a Trademark the name Captain Thunder could not be used, So they went with Captain Marvel. Fawcett's circulation director Roscoe Kent Fawcett decided to give an Alter ego direction this being that it should be a "Superman with the Alter Ego being a 10 - 12 year old boy". Eventually they 6 were chosen Solomon (Jewish King), Hercules (Roman God), Atlas (Greek Titan), Zeus (Greek God), Achilles (Greek Hero), Mercury (Roman God) they took the first letter of their names and you have "SHAZAM" when Billy says that he becomes the Mightiest Hero who fights the 7 deadly sins. Later Fawcett added 8 more Characters Black Adam, Mary Batson (Marvel), Tall Billy, Fat Billy, Hillbilly Billy, Captain Marvel Jr., Uncle Marvel, and Uncle Marvels daughter Darla. But in the mid 1940's DC (National Publications sued Fawcett City Comics over the Captain Marvel rights (Due to similarities of Captain Marvel and Superman) Fawcett City won but at that point Comic Book sales were declining. DC Sued again in 1951 and won the case and Cease orders were filed. Eventually Fawcett Sold the right to all the characters it owned to DC, DC Never copyrights Captain Marvel. In 1960 Marvel created a character they called Captain Marvel (Commonly called Captain Mar-Vell). In 1970 DC tried to reopen the Captain Marvel line, but Marvel had copyrighted the name Captain Marvel. So DC had to use a different title they went with "SHAZAM!" Finally DC tried to use the name Captain Thunder but nobody knew who it was and the popularity was low, Black Billy Batson phase. They returned to the Most well known version and eventually in the 2000's they changed Billy to his post as the Guarding of the Rock of Eternity and Had Freddy Freeman (Captain Marvel Jr) move up to the post of the Earths Greatest Hero named "SHAZAM!" in 2012 DC decided as part of the New 52 to include a Back up story to Justice League Featuring all the Marvels and they opted to call the Character Shazam. As a side not Marvel comics must use the Character Captain Marvel every year or they will lose the right and DC can retake them

That's why Miss Marvel is now called Captain Marvel. We went through Mar-vell's entire family to keep the title, but eventually we got tired of just hearing his kids whine about how their dad died. I'd be relatively okay with DC taking the name, since when Mar-vell died it was arguably the best comic super-hero death ever. So a part of me feels like it diminishes his character to play hot-potato with the title every few years.
I've always liked Black Adam more than his hero counterpart, but damn his "Shazam" is better. Billy Batson's "Shazam" is some gods, some heroes, and a king. Black Adam's are all gods, and Egyptian ones too, Shu, Heru (Horus), Amon, Zehuti (Thoth), Aton, Mehen (Mihos). Just sayin', but all gods trumps gods, heroes, and a monarch.

Anybody here have the Mattel New 52 Shazam? Looking for some impressions. I completely forgot that toy existed until now. The only Captain Marvel/Shazam collectible I own is a little Zerboz/Heroics figurine.
Not a fan of the DCC version, surprisingly. Something about the body looks off, like the torso is way too short or something. |

I suppose the classic DCUC Captain Marvel does look the best. It's basically how he appeared in the Beyond comics as well.
This Batman Beyond met all of my expectations and more. He's really freaking well done. I wish he had a swivel at the hips or the knees, but otherwise I'd consider him perfect. |

I would like the Super Powers figures, but the price tag is too much right now for me. I really only want the SP Kalibak BAF. Since you got them , how are they shipping the BAF parts???

Yes, one of them does. It looks like it's in between the chest area. Is that what you guys were talking about? It's not much though. Hard to see.
