Something looks off about the face, specifically the eyes, but whatever, it is still Ripley.

Such terrible hair lol. It definitely brings you back in time.
I think it looks good.. For some reason figures of this size seem to have trouble really nailing likenesses, especially on women, so with that said, I think this figure fits right in. The Arnold sculpts are going to be better because I think his face/head is more defined than most other peoples. |

I might get one of the series 4 Ripleys, depends on whether or not the space suit one adds to the look because Aliens Ripley beats regular Alien Ripley on the wants list.
Seeing more pictures, it does look a lot more like Sigourney Weaver from 1979 than people complain. I think people are comparing the figure's face to how she looked in Aliens but that was almost a decade after the first one came out and you can tell on her face. This figure captures Sigourney from '79 more than people credit. It's not 100% but given this scale it's hard to get there unless the face is already easily defined like Schwarzenegger and Stallone. Women have such softer features than men that they often don't translate to plastic very well.

This is definitely a figure I plan on getting. I might even track down one of the xenomorphs they did to go alongside her. I did afterall get a Predator to go with the Dutch figure I got. Any recomendations for a first movie alien figure?

I think the likeness is a lot closer but I can't see much difference between the paint details from this new promo pic and the first one we got. I bet it's got a lot to do with the lighting in the new pic.
I think the sculpting is pretty good, but the paint maybe making it look a little off. For instance, MacFarlane gets to do 3-D scans of the actors' faces for their Walking Dead figures, but they're really hit and miss as far as likenesses go. I think the paint is usually the reason why some figures look so bad. |

The best Big Chap is easily the series 2 35th anniversary figure. It is isn't the easiest to get now, but it's the definitive figure of the alien from Alien so you can't really use any other to go with Ripley from Alien.

I think I will wait for the Aliens version, that's what comes to mind wen I think of Ripley. Although I may get the space suit version, it looks really good and the Jonesy is the icing on the cake.

Looking up a video review of it, yeah, that'll definitely have to be the one I track down. Looking back, I might have even seen that one at retail a couple of times, but I passed on it because that was before they announced Ripley...

It's not a great Weaver likeness, but I can see her well enough in that sculpt I guess. As far as that cat goes, though, I don't know who or what (weird shapes) the hell it's supposed to be, but that ain't Jones.

I just finished Alien: Isolation several days ago (along with the movie DLC), and recently rewatched the first film, so my mind now defaults to '79 Sigourney Weaver when I hear the name. |

I never realized there was such a gap between the first two movies.

They wanted the likeness of Sigourney Weaver then made that sculpt?

Honestly, comparing this new image to the first one, the sculpt looks like a much better likeness than it did before. It's not perfect, but id does look a lot more like her now. If anything, her hair looks a tad on the large size, and her skin tone looks a little too dark. Though that could be the lighting of the image.
The cat doesn't look bad either. Though to be honest, I couldn't really care about it's inclusion with Ripley. If, or rather when, I open these, I might have him being eaten by the Alien.

As for the space-suited NECA figures, will the knees bend? I'd sure like it if the knees bend, so they can be posed in a seated position, for example on the edge of a computer workstation. |

Interesting point. I remember only one scene where the alien appears to 'look' directly at the cat, and Jones is sealed inside a container at the time. My understanding from the video games and elsewhere is that the aliens sense their prey by heat, pheremones and vibration. Do we know for certain that Big Chap could actually 'see' Jones inside his carrier container?

Thanks. If they don't sit down, then I guess they'll just have to stand up, and I'll cope somehow.

Wow, Ripley's likeness to Sigourney Weaver looks absolutely perfect to me, like she just stepped out of the first movie. So excited to get this one. Might grab the space suit version, too. I'll probably call it quits on Alien-series figures after that. Alien is by far my favorite film of the series and it's the only one I really feel compelled to buy figures from now that the Prometheus line is done, and I assume they'll never get around to Resurrection figures since they'd pretty much only be making them for me.

I just hope that with them announcing the ripped in half Bishop is coming with an egg and facehugger they realize that they could easily do a pack of just 4 eggs (2 open, 2 closed) and 4 facehuggres (2 coiled and 2 attacking) they could sell or at least offer online like the Predator Skull pack. Plain box , no art. I would buy a few.
