So I tired the Radioactive Man head on the new Thor's body. It looks ok. It's not perfect, but it could work. I could buy the Target three pack, but I was wondering if anyone had a spare head for him. Maybe as custom fodder. Any help would be great!

Heads up if anyone is thinking about a case buy for the new Spidey line. I was just browsing BBTS and they have a pre-order up for the revision 2 case. It subs out an extra Spidey 2099 in place of the extra Anti Venom.

Just to make sure I didn't miss it, there hasn't been a release date for the upcoming Amazon 4 pack (Thor, Banner, Hawkeye, and Widow), right?

I have not heard of one. Quick check of Amazon did not reveal a pre-order for it. However, they do have pre-orders up for the new Spidey wave. $21.99 each with a March 25 release date.

Saw a post like this on another forum so to give myself something to do this morning I came up with my personal choices for a all Daredevil legends wave probably not gonna happen but with the Netflix show who knows so here goes:
a version of DD like the yellow or armored or Shadowland styles Bullseye..much needed upgrade and can't have DD without him Elektra...see Bullseye Typhoid Mary as swap for Elektra the Owl.. he's in the Netflix series the Hand...again see Bullseye description and who doesn't love a good army builder and of course for the BAF...Kingpin What cha think? |

A store exclusive 3 pack of Daredevil, Bullseye and Elektra seems more plausible. I doubt a TV show, especially a Netflix exclusive, would be enough media support for a themed wave. Major Motion Pictures seem to be their chosen direction. With that being said, I think a Hand Ninja should definitely be the double packed figure in an upcoming wave. Piggybacking on the next Spidey wave perhaps? If the BAF was a swap like Odin/King Thor you would never be able to find:
BAF Mary Jane/Gwen Stacy Symbiote Spider Man (no BAF piece) x 2 per case Spider Gwen (with alternate unmasked head, which is also a BAF piece) Ă— 1 per case Classic Venom (with Gwen Stacy's arms) x 1 per case Iron Spidey (with Mary Jane's head) x 1 per case Doctor Octopus (with Mary Jane's bare arms) x 1 Hand Ninja (with body/legs of the BAF, with a skirt and jacket for Gwen that can be removed to create Mary Jane's black sleeveless top and tan pants) x 2 per case Each case comes with two complete BAFs and Black Costume Spider Man is the "pegwarmer". Not a fan of the swap BAF really. For example with Odin wave really wasn't interested in Sentry but to get Odin arms well you know. Same with heads, really didn't want Carol so luckily Odin head was with Witch but next time might not be so lucky. OK with swaps just not the BAFs.

Odin required you buy 5 figures to build one BAF, and the swap feature requires you buy an extra Thor, Hawkeye and Iron Fist. I'm just saying that having to only buy 3, with the central piece paired with an actual army builder, would be an ideal way to get these ladies out (and in a way that proved very successful with the Jubilee wave). There is no case waste! There are usually at least two figures in any given series that are (probably) only being bought to complete a BAF. Who only wants one Hand Ninja? I'm also assuming that anybody going through the trouble to build one of them is probably also interested in the other. I don't mean to be such a lawyer about this but I think it's a really solid idea. If you're sore about being stuck with a figure you don't really want for the sake of a BAF I imagine you encounter that problem a lot.
There's really not even that many characters the swap BAF concept could work for, but the similarities between these two outfits and the whole "which Spider girlfriend do you want?" gimmick scream swap BAF to me. Last edited by jmurray90720; 02-28-2015 at 10:48 AM.. |

Well obviously my hypothetical DD wave thing was misunderstood my some and as far as getting stuck with figures alot it doesn't really happen too often actually. So I'm just gonna drop the whole subject but as much as I would like a MJ or Gwen I actually see them more as swaps not BAFS since most times and before I'm misunderstood again most times BAFS are larger characters.

I feel ya. Larger characters should be BAFs before smaller characters, and I'd buy either of them single carded in a heartbeat. I just can't believe they haven't figured out a Case pack that doesn't leave 15 of one character on the shelves or stick you with half of a BAF. Mandroid and Goblin arms are just wasted plastic to a lot of people. I also think there should be a separation of movie characters and comic characters, and you shouldn't have to buy both to get a BAF that is either comic or movie related. The movie characters are the ones I see the most, and have refused to buy to build a BAF. It really seemed like the only people that bought ASM2 Electro did so for the BAF. There isn't a single Electro BAF piece by itself on EBay right now, and yet I can buy his figure at any retail store I walk into.

I feel like any figure packed multiple in a case will always peg warm, regardless of the character. Tons of folks were clamoring for classic Hawkeye, especially since the TBL figure ran for fairly high prices on the secondary market. Despite that, he's now the one chilling heavy in the aisles.

Not if it's an army builder.
Hand Ninjas AIM Agents Hydra Agents S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents Skrull Warriors Even a freakin' Stepford Cuckoo Would all fare better than Hawkeye, Superior Spider Man or whatever Captain America have. I think it's actually done on purpose, to ensure brand representation in the aisles (even if you pass the same figures up 75 times). I remember when DCUC was hot I never even saw a lot of the series. When one person can justify buying every figure in a case, they buy every figure in the case. |

I agree about the army builder look at AIM and Hydra hardly ever saw them at retail. I even remember the SHIELD/Hand and the Skrull/Kree two packs were more scarce than the Wolvie/Forge, Ronin/Elektra.

I like the Odin wave as well, and there is no point in thinking of how something could have been, but it would be great if they changed it in the future. Minimates do a really good job of regularly including army builders to move both standard and variant sets without a sense of redundance. At $22, ML should be doing the same thing. I wouldn't even be mad about AIM and Hydra being rereleased with a different BAF piece. They'd be there for the people who want to army build and the BAF pieces would be abundant on trade boards for those who don't feel the need to retread.
