Yeah, Marvel's old Vamp Tales books were a hoot...Marvel did a few deluxe format magazine-like books in that bronze period...there were also some Hulk and Conan mags that I recall. You can get trades for Vampire Tales now. That is...if you don't still have access to your dad's collection. I was partial to Tomb of Dracula, myself. Mostly because I quickly developed a love for Blade (afro-Blade is still the best Blade - Wesley's the man, but I must keep it 100). As wee tyke, I was lucky enough to have an older family friend that gave me many books from his collection...a mixture of Tomb of Dracula, Defenders, Adventure Comics (featuring Earth 2 JSA stuff), and many more...he pretty much started my collection of comics as a kid. Howard the Duck fan, huh? Yeah, we could use another one. The one we received from Toybiz with Surfer needs an update...but not before Surfer gets his much needed redraft! Yes...I managed to bring up Surfer (again) within a mostly unrelated topic. Thank you for your participation... Last edited by TheBlueMarvel; 05-20-2015 at 09:54 PM.. |

I ordered one set of black and two sets of yellow (the yellow works wonderfully in conjunction with the red) all from eBay. They are Chinese bootlegs that run about half the cost (for now) of the Tamashii flames. I constantly search eBay for bits and bobs and in my searches I've also found purple versions (still on the fence with these; little use outside of Psylocke or possibly some arcane arts users...4H figs or maybe Dormammu - if he is released).
Sounds like a solid plan. Short-hair mullet or ponytail? my preference is for the ponytail, but the 80's mullet is so iconic... As for the bootleg Tamashii effects, do you have a link to a specific seller, or is it more of a general Ebay search? I've never seen colours other than the official red and blue, and purple flames sound fantastic for Strange or Scarlet Witch. |

Speaking of Tamashii effects, I just saw a listing for a preorder for a "Thunder Blue Ver." , really should be named "Lightning"

Oh, for sure the ponytail! The mullet is iconic, but forever mortalised in figure form? No-sir-ee-bob.

I think I'm going to wait until they drop before committing. Apparently, there are two colors: blue and yellow. One of the listings (the yellow version) has sold out (they only had three). My hesitation in buying is due to not knowing exactly when they will be released. If you buy a 'pre-order' too far out from the release date (30 days), it'll drop out of your 'purchased' queue. Although buyer protection covers your order, I'm still very leery of these scenarios. I hate chasing after a seller that has not delivered my purchase within 2 months...I think that's a more than reasonable length of time given that eBay's terms stipulate that listings for pre-orders cannot be further out than 30 days from cleared payment. In spite of the rules (as I know them), I see greater than 30 day 'pre-order' listings all the time.... Here's the eBay listing for any interested: Bandai Tamashii Effect Thunder Blue Ver Pre Order | eBay Kappahobby is a trusted seller (by me at least). I've personally bought from them (most of my blue/red tamashii flames - I have three of each) many times with no problems. Although, I've never done a pre-order from them... |

Its perfect, but I could totally use some more Vampire tales stuff. It was some wild stuff, I am shocked we haven't had more Marvel Horror books with the resurgence of horror on TV and books like Afterlife with Archie doing so well. Defenders were great, they had the greatest B-List line ups. As for howard, definitely a needed update. Surfer and Blade too! and yes Aftro Blade is everything

This makes me wonder how feasible it would be for there to be a trusted Ebay sellers section here. Somewhere that we can post feedback for other members on what sellers we have dealt with and our experience with them. Something like our current feedback section for board members where the thread is the seller name and any posts are feedback on that seller. I know I have dealt with a few good sellers I could recommend.

I want the SH Hulkbuster, but I can AFFORD the baf Hulkbuster (along with every figure in the wave)... my rationale on the situation to keep my desires in check. =) If I hadn't just picked up my Apollyon Megatron, I'd probably go with that Figuarts Hulkbuster and just grab Valkyrie off the peg so I could call it a day.

I hear you; ponytail for the win. As far as links to seller(s) offering the bootlegs, I'm sorry, but I don't have any to provide. I purchased mine from two separate Chinese sellers with little to no history (I was basically taking a risk). As is typical with many vendors out of China, these sellers were offering listings for all things under the sun. Fishing tackle, clothes, ball bearings, and knock-off Tamashii flame effects (??? lol). My best advice to you would be to devote some time to looking periodically...

They look alright, but the one shown last year looks much more for your money! That could have been two sets, so I guess we'll see. As for the Chinese bootleg sellers, yeah I have a browse every now and then on Ebay, but as I say I haven't noticed any alternate colours. Can't wait for the release of the Tamashii green version of "Wind" which was displayed last year; it will look great with a Polaris figure. |

So what's everyone thinking now about getting a hulkbuster for your shelves?
1 Hot Toys 2 SH figarts 3 Legends BAF 4 Marvel Select the hot toys as well as the SH figarts versions are pricey... the SH is version is abit more affordable then the hot toys, the legends version looks nice as well and i think better looking then the marvel select would it be worth getting a case of Hulkbuster wave or just spring for the SH figuarts. choices,choices,choices..... |

Hot Toys Hulk Buster will be way out of scale for my MU and Legend collection , the SH figuarts will be too dang expensive and the Select is a maybe if I wanted a comic version but Im all in for the BAF as I want most of the figures from that wave.
As for the Tamashii lightning effect , I'll wait for Amazon, I usually order two so with that I get free shippping.

I think the HB armor is neat but I wouldn't say that its one of my favorite armors so I can't really see paying $300 for the Figuarts version. Since I want four of the seven figures in the Legends wave I'll probaby just go a head and get the whole wave. I may get the Select version too after I see some reviews for it.

I'm debating getting the MS Hulkbuster rather than spending the money on the whole wave for ML. I've got an unexpected expense that will set me back enough to not completely stop my hobby but cut it down a bit. So I just don't know...entire wave or MS HB, and Blizzard and Strange....
In the same train of thought I'm selfishly now kind of hoping that the SDCC isn't something I'm that interested in. For once. |

Why does it seem like folks are lumping in the MS Hulkbuster with the other versions coming out when deciding which to buy? Since it's pretty obvious it's a comic-based version, I'm not even seeing the MS as part of the debate on which "movie" buster to pick up. I need both a comic and a movie buster personally, so I feel like I lucked out with the Select figure releasing, but I wouldn't consider it as a stand in with my MCU stuff.

Dorkside Toys has been selling standalong BAF's from the last few Legends waves for $50-60, so that takes the edge off a little bit. I'm just curious why anyone wanting a movie buster would even consider the comic based Select figure as a substitute... seems like the decision should really only be between the BAF or Figuarts versions (Hot Toys is not even applicable due to both scale AND pricepoint, so throw that expensive badass out as well =).

The dorkside toys option is a possibility for some and might be for me. $50-$60 plus the two figures I definitely want from that wave would end up being around $100, vs the MS and the two figures would be around $75 so that might work. |

Obviously I'm not speaking for everyone on this, but for me it's not so much that I want a "movie" Hulkbuster, but more that I want a bigger one than we got way back in the original ML run with the Legendary Riders wave, I think it was? It's not bad but I just want bigger.

In any case, happy Friday collectors. Another one of those days where I had more figures than food in my lunch bag... lol. |

Not crazy about the movie Hulkbuster fellas, I personally think this will be the one for me, depending on the price:
