What if they are going on the idea that AVP brought up ??? THe whole thing that Preds taught the Incans to build pyramids as landing spots for the pred ships and influenced their culture. Maybe the even older preds showed up looking like the ONI Pred from PAK in ancient Japan and that is where the ONI Mythology comes from ???

I guess if that's what you wanna say about it then sure, really it could be explained as any number of reasons I just don't personally care for it.

Well Memorial Day delayed it but I got my CVG Predator 2 and Alien 3 figures! I am really glad to have these in hand and they do look amazingly well together, almost like this was made as a set. The plastic feels really good as it has with all of NECA's stuff from the past year or so and there are no stuck or stiff joints due to paint or anything except for the City Hunter's shoulder cannon. Overall I'd say if you're a fan of either franchise and like the classic video game aesthetic then these are two amazing additions to the collection and in my opinion these are the best CVG figures yet.

Here's every CVG figure I have (first Predator box not shown). I also have the Heavy Gunner Endoskeleton from RvT but that's a different line so I left him out.

Just started collecting these for a friend. It's going to be a tough one, isn't it?
A couple of quick questions, as I'm a n00b with the NECA Preds. 1) Which figures are the hardest to come by? 2) A similar question - which figures tend to go for the largest prices, and what will I be expecting to pay for them (just a rough). 3) Do any figures have specific QC issues? I doubt he'll be chasing a whole set, as some of the variants are just *too* similar. But yes, any advice, tips etc. would be great! |

I doubt he'll be chasing a whole set, as some of the variants are just *too* similar. But yes, any advice, tips etc. would be great! 1. The Predators that you will have the hardest to come by are also the most expensive. Unmasked Lost Predator, Guardian Predator, Warrior Predator and Scout Predator are probably going to be the hardest to come by, especially Scout and Unmasked Lost Predator, who usually will only have one or two auctions available on Ebay at any given time. You can expect to pay up to 100 American dollars and up for any of these. Big Red and Albino were also mentioned, but they are more on the expensive side as opposed to being hard to find. Battle Damaged Wolf Predator from NECA's AVP:R line (a very bloodied, unmasked version of the Wolf that came with Chest Burster and Face Hugger accessories) is also a rare one, although he doesn't drive the insane prices the newer Predators do, usually topping out between 60 or 70 dollars...if you can find him. 2. As for the most expensive of the Predators to find out of the bunch, that title easily goes to City Hunter, where auctions will usually top out over the 100 dollar mark. The helmeted, series 1 version of Berserker Predator also usually goes for a ridiculous price as well. If you are able to snag him for under a hundred dollars, do it. After that, the higher prices fall down to many of the rarer ones, Scout, Warrior, unmasked Lost, Guardian, Big Red, and Snake Predator all tend to go around the 60 to 70 dollar price range and up. Anything below that price line is considered a steal and should be snapped up. Two packs are also on the expensive end, being that many of them came with skulls needed to complete the NECA trophy room diorama. If you buy a two pack, be sure that the set is unopened, as many sellers used to cut open the pack, remove the skulls and sell them separately. 3. As for QC issues, a lot of the older waves suffered from them, although thankfully they have gotten better as time has gone on. The main areas to watch out for on all the figures are on the wrists (especially the wrist gauntlet blades), ankles and heads, as sometimes they get stuck and don't move properly. Bone necklaces and sashes (such as the one Jungle Hunter wears) tend to be dainty and poorly glued, and shoulder cannons are always a worry as well, and should be treated with care. Early Predator waves also suffered from being shipped from the factory missing accessories, and although that issue has seemed to dry up, it is worth mentioning. As for specific figures with issues, Tracker Predator was notorious for having broken tusks, Falconer predator often had issues with his wrist blade being broken off (depending on how it was packaged, a packaging revision later separated the blade from the figure in the packaging to keep them from breaking) and Shaman Predator had an issue with broken staffs inside the packaging. Other than that, most of the issues are with the line itself, and are mentioned in the previous paragraph. Coming late into this wave like you are can be brutal, but if you are smart about it, it's not impossible to build up a nice collection of older figures with the newer stuff. Like you mentioned, knowing specifically which definitive version of a Predator you want is really helpful, since many of the variants are literally only different in that they are either masked or not, or have open or closed mouths. Unless you are a completionist, there is no reason to go nuts and pick up a masked, unmasked, open mouthed, closed mouth, and battle damaged City Hunter unless you feel like being broke for the week and falling behind on your car payment...=P If possible, try and buy in person as this will give you a chance to check for defects and QC issues before they happen. You will also probably be able to negotiate better deals than what you will find on Ebay or other sites, as the allure of cold, hard, cash in hand is often hard to turn away as a seller. Good luck, and don't be afraid to ask more questions here if needed! Last edited by Trivial Psychic; 06-28-2015 at 04:24 PM.. |

I didn't start in until series 9 with water emergence Predator and yeah it's better to just look ahead with this line instead of trying too hard to scoop up what was missed. If it isn't older and risky for QC it's typically overpriced or just not worth the trouble. Speaking of QC I have also never had any real deal-breakers but it is something to be cautious with, when series 10 came out I ordered a set from BBTS and Hive Wars had his right forearm improperly attached so I kind of have to angle him to hide the issue.

I had pre-ordered my DH Predator on BBTS a while back, but I haven't gotten the email from them telling me to expect it coming in soon.
Between Ambush, DH Predator, and the upcoming Friday The 13th sets, next month is going to be brutal for me. And that's not even including the upcoming ML waves... |

you know you can cancel BBTS preorders. while i usually prefer going with BBTS for most of my toy purchases they tend to lag behind everyone when it comes to getting stuff in stock. i ended up canceling my harley quinn new 52 figure because they still haven't gotten it in, yet my LCS got it more then a month or so ago.
legends hit me as well, i just got the HB wave a week ago.... I tend not to worry about BBTS getting things a little slower than other places, because in most cases it is usually only a week or two slower. Their prices are usually be the best online, and I also ALWAYS take advantage of their pile of loot shipping, which is one of the best deals out there, and is another reason I don't mind the wait with BBTS. I've sat on orders for 3 or 4 months at a time before shipping. |

Oh yeah...I know you can cancel pre-orders there. I will on occasion do so when I find something in the wild unexpectedly, or if money is tight and there is a large transaction kinda hanging over my head (like a wave of figures or a Hot Toy or something.)

finally opened him up.... not too much leg articulation so to speak considering the right leg is pointed in only one direction. the paint looks good, more like the comic look to it similar to have the bad blood came. came with a shoulder cannon, not sure i'll be placing it on him or not. also i was expecting a full size comic, it only came with a mini comic reprint of the original. never the less it's still cool, i'll bag and board it possibly just to keep it safe.

My Predators so far (with the SH Monsterarts Wolf Predator thrown in)
These shots aren't including the videogame Predator and Predator 2 figures. I really want to pick up that Dark Horse Predator!

OK, so I'm in, I just bought the Hive Wars, Viper, cracked tusk, series 8 25th, darkhorse concrete hunter, night storn, and elder v2. I've got some questions for anyone who's been collecting the line for a while.
1. I've noticed there are very few of these loose on the secondary market, and when one comes up it costs as much as MIP, is this usual for this line? 2. what is the retail price on these? I saw people in forums mentioning under 20, but I've never seen one for less than 20 (with shipping) 3. where can I find these at retail? |
