So I was walking through Target picking up some bandaids and decided to take a look at the toys real quick. I look over at the Marvel Playskools and see what I thought was Absorbing Man.(ok Kool!) But on closer inspection this guy is labeled "Hulk". I buy it, duh. So I jump on Google and it looks like a not so silver, Silver Surfer.
So it's an odd find. He doesn't have a surf board and I am almost certain that the Silver Surfer is not sold in these single type packs. (still wishing it was Absorbing man) So before I break this thing open and paint him to look like Deadpool or something, do you guys have any thoughts to what this is and if it is worth anything in it's packaging? |

Attachment 31332 Attachment 31333 It's probly worth just keeping to have it up somewhere to show off as "hey, the factory screwed up, check this out!" Here's a pic of the wave he's in: |

Marvel Playskool Heroes Blue Stealth Iron Man Variant Error in Hulk Package NIP | eBay
it's not uncommon for this line, it's a fun oddity, but ultimately the mispacking hurts the value, as most collectors want mint examples of each figure, and being the wrong figure (and really one of a kind) takes him out of the lexicon of "variants". I'd keep him for now, maybe keep an ear to the ground for someone who collects errors (there are a couple out there) and you might be able to double your money. But, I'm with James, I'd probably just hold on to it and show it off every once in a while. |

I say take your son's advice. It is not going to pay off your mortgage, so open him up and have some fun with it.

I think it's cool charecters like Silver Surfer in these blind bags. It's good that they include charecters that aren't as popular as Spider-Man or IronMan. When I was little i Watched the Silver Surfer cartoon, but i had a bad speech disorder and had to say Silser Suufer

If memory serves me correctly he was a main member of the shs cartoon. He was like a hippy burnout surfer type.

It's a shame those shows had to end, some of the best stuff on TV. Way better that all of these " Reality " shows.

I personally enjoy funny mix-ups like this but I think it's stupid when people try to sell them for lots of money. Most serious-minded collectors won't bite.

It was the marvel action block or something. It was on, in my old home in so cal, on sundays right after the incredible hulk toon. Saturdays had the action hour with iron man and the ff toon.

Saturdays (in the early to mid 90's) has Spiderman on at 10:30, X-men at 11 on fox and I think the Silver Surfer stand alone was at 10 in 98', but it only lasted like 13 episodes on fox (although there was a second season that was canceled), in 94' we got Iron man and FF, and in 96' Hulk on UPN .iron man and FF ran as the "Marvel action hour" on Sundays. Then in 99' we got Avengers: United they stand, which was ironic because most of the main Avengers weren't there.

as for the Hulk on UPN, i loved it, was never able to see it all because they took it off the air way too fast. i literally just finished watching both seasons a few weeks back. they took it off due to it being too " dark" at least season 1 was more adult season 2 got more goofy. they defintely don't do super hero cartoons anymore like they did in the 90s for all the marvel and DC shows. all the new crap sucks. |

i remember all the cartoons your talking about EXCEPT a silver surfer cartoon.... Spidey and x-men were on the WB along with the batman and superman for a good amount of years, the FF cartoon and iron man cartoons weren't as popular and only aired in early morning and or early afternoons. i do however remember the them to that iron man song like it was yesterday lol

Sign of the time. things change. Back in the day a show could be comedy one episode and dark and thought provoking the next. Now a days if the main character doest spout out a joke every third line its too tough or complicated for younger viewers to follow. I think if shows were what they are now I'd have never gotten into them. Not because they are poorly written but I just can't relate I guess to say spiderman fighting the sinister six imagining a mini Nick fury shouting orders at him. Yea our spiderman joked but he always appeared to be in the actual fight not off in imaginary land. I don't need him reminding me who he is every episode or the in your face cues they give to show peter parker is also spiderman. We actually had to remember who he was without him yelling it like a sugared up five year old tearing ass through a Walmart. While i like fouth wall jokes only certain characters can pull it off and its kool. Hell even she hulk a fourth wall breaker in the comics never did that on the show.OK rant over making my own head hurt.

Amen to that brotha !! i've been watching the 90s X-men series during lunch time at work every day as well. let me tell watching it now as an adult compared to when i was a young teen, the show was very much like the comic story arcs, and even to this day as im 32 years old i still enjoy these old marvel and DC cartoons.

remember Wolverine praying at the end of the Night Crawler episode? or the fact that NC was a priest! imagine that today, someone somewhere would be outraged! or all the overt digs on communism in the Omega red introduction episode? I will say it's a shame that I had to wait until "Hulk VS Wolverine" to see Wolverine actually stab someone with his claws! but everyone is too pissy, or sensitive or out to bring some sort of Orwellian social justice to the world to explore real aspects of flawed normal people in kids (or adult) programing today... now I feel like a bithcy old man.
D-2020, if you never caught the SS show it was really great, before that show I really didn't like SS, I thought he was kind of gimmick driven, and more of a FF background character. It explored his origins and really got into the Marvel cosmic side with Destiny, eternity, Warlock, and Thanos, it had multi episode story arcs and was really well written, but the show is a bit of a let down in the fact that (Spoiler Alert, although the show is 16 years old now) SS dies in the end of season one in a climatic battle, it was suppose to be a cliff hanger but since it got canceled the average viewer got the impression of "well that's it, dudes dead as hell". I'd rank it up there with the conclusion of Wolverine and the X-men in terms of disappointment. |

Same here. Xmen had several actual story archs during its run some 2-4 episodes and a few that didn't actually finsh for several episodes. Xmen got into some deep dark shit too if remember correctly. The savage land. magneto and the whole freeing the mutant slaves of genosha. Apocalypse using the foh to launch a deadly epidemic. Try putting that on tv now they'd probly censor half of it and turn wolverine into a wrestlemania personality. I know for a fact he won't be smoking a cigar after whooping ass.
