The upcoming wave of Marvel Infinite 3.75" figures features Chameleon, Emma Frost, Northstar, Blue Deadpool, Colossonaut, and Korg. I have procured early accessory-free versions of Chameleon, Emma Frost, and Northstar to review. Now up for review: Emma Frost.
Once upon a time, when Marvel Universe still existed, we were teased with an X-Men Extinction Team 3-pack. Remember this? Yeah, I thought you might. As a 3-pack, these figures did not get released. Cyclops was a repack for this aborted set, but as of this upcoming wave, both Emma and Colossonaut are seeing release as single-carded Marvel Infinite figures. We saw her many moons ago, and we waited. We've had plenty of time to think about her. Most of her parts are familiar - the body is simply Dagger with a little more skin showing, high heels instead of flats, white gloved hands instead of flesh, and an X-23 X-Men belt. And, of course, a cape. Which I did not get with this loose figure. So what do I see when I open the box? Exactly what I expected. The only new thing here is her head, and we've seen that already. (Oh, and the cape. The one I don't have yet.) Bodywise, this figure has the same strengths and flaws of the MU2 female base figure. Giraffe legs, lovely body that comes apart easily for customizers, crowded hip joint...you know the drill. Oh, but that head. Nothing brings a smile to a customizer's face like a new versatile head, especially a female one. Even if you use this head only for its intended purpose (sitting on Emma's shoulder's, you pervert), it is excellent. Blueish-white lipstick *and* eyeshadow (I can't recall any other Marvel 3.75" figure with eye shadow!) and a determined, almost angry expression really capture the essence of Emma Frost. The only thing you could ask for is a translucent diamond form variant which, alas, is not forthcoming as far as we know. But for customizers, a new head like this one is pure gold. I don't see how anyone could resist using this as a Sue Storm head, for example, or possibly Sharon Carter. It simply looks great on every female body you can think of. Unlike Dagger, Emma's head is not undersized for the MU1 female body. The hair is removable, and if you paint it different colors you can use it in several places in your collection. Glasses-less Baroness, anyone? I'm gushing now, right? Bottom line, this is exactly what we were expecting, and we were expecting something good. At last, it has been delivered. There's really not much to say other than that. Yes, that is a Moon Knight placeholder cape. I can hardly wait for the real deal. Final verdict: finally! |

The upcoming wave of Marvel Infinite 3.75" figures features Chameleon, Emma Frost, Northstar, Blue Deadpool, Colossonaut, and Korg. I have procured early accessory-free versions of Chameleon, Emma Frost, and Northstar to review. Now up for review: Northstar!
Northstar is another MU legacy figure that collectors have known about and have been anticipating for a long time. Once again, I opened the box and discovered exactly what I was expecting - the "skinny" style MU buck with all its strengths and weaknesses. There is no waist cut or thigh cut, the hips are a little finicky sometimes, it has a hinged ankle but no ankle rockers, and no neck hinge. Ankle rockers and a neck hinge would have helped this flying character a great deal. But it is nothing we haven't seen before and is exactly what we were expecting. Like his sister, Northstar has a big ol' honking head. The sculpt is adequate, and actually looks great from the back and sides. But when is face is viewed straight on, he looks either annoyed or constipated. However, he looks good when posed with his sister or with the rest of Alpha Flight. There isn't a lot to say about this one. There are no surprises here and either you want him to help complete Alpha Flight or you don't. Final verdict: it'll do! |

Also all those Emma figures from C-bay are all gone! There is a single one up and it is for auction and is about $40 and a loooong way to go.
Edit: ALWAYS love seeing your collection display Ursa! One of the best around! Could you grace us with a photo bomb?

You should start a blog psycho pirate, great reviews.
I'm glad we are finally seeing some of these figures after what seems like years of waiting. I guess I'll have to give up on seeing that Igor armor from Ironman 3. What a shame that would have been the only figure I would have picked up out of thst assemblers line. |

I'd completely forgotten about him. He was in an SDCC diorama, I honestly thought he'd already been released. Just rare or something.

We're still at the ballpark (overnight Scout function) but I do have a couple pics I took earlier with the new I Am Elemental figures I got today...
Honesty and Fear meet with the Founders... Persistence speaks with the Marvels... Industry and Bravery partake of Jarvis' legendary hospitality, while it looks like there may be a spark between Energy and Johnny Storm... |

It's always 7:20 in the mansion!
I miss baseball, cricket sucks! Just ordered off of Taoboa, I will let you guys know as it progresses. Just same stuff as chinabay and some older stuff. Mostly just Chinese collectors like us. Not huge toy re-sellers it seemed. I just hope that it doesn't get hit with an import duty. I like those I AM ELEMENTAL figures.are they planning a wave 2? I remember them saying so if their kickstarted was successful. It did very well by the end.

Literally just got back from a 5 hour car drive. I was at Boston Comic Con the whole day. Contrary to what some fellow Arkers told me, most of the stuff there were not overpriced. All of the Marvel 3 3/4" figures I got were actually really amazing deals. Even scored my first SDCC exclusive. Nothing crazy special, though. I'm too tired to get my phone in my car so I'll do it tomorrow. Btw, there were 3 things there that I passed up on that were really cool. The Taco Truck, Infinity Set, and the Super Helicarrier.

Awesome man, I'm looking forward to your haul pics. I'm glad prices were reasonable too. I really need to find a Yellow Giant Man/Goliath and a Tiger Shark and I will say my MU hunt is over just New MI stuff at that point.

Also, at the con there was a Baghead Spider-Man for $65 and a Transparent Vision for $25. There were also a lot of X-Force Archangels for $30 each. All were MOC except for a little bit of the paper being ripped off on the Spider-Man.

Venom: We place you under arrest; Mr. Parker. We can't wait until Osborne lets us interrogate you...privately.
Bullseye: Only a handful of individuals can dodge my uncanny aim, Spiderman. I wonder how you will fare against my aim with a broken knee. Ha! I'll even let you choose which one...hehehe! Daken: Let me just stick him in the gut and let him die slowly while we wait! Venom: Nooo!! We want him to ourselvessss... Ares: Do not harm the lad; lest ye face my wrath. We let Norman handle the interrogation as planned. |

Since there have been some comments and questions about the I AM ELEMENTAL figures, I thought I'd take a few spotlight pics to showcase them for everyone.
First up is Persistence (super-strength, flight)... Next we have Fear (the ability to drain an object or person of any forward momentum and stop them dead in their tracks)... Bravery, with the ability to generate a protective force field around herself and/or others... Industy, with the ability to control physical (technological) objects as well as create or repair any technology... Energy, who can as her name implies generate and control various types of electromagnetic energy... And Honesty, the one I consider team leader (by virtue of the fact that I have both a differently-colored Kickstarter version as well as all things begin with honesty). Honesty is shown here both in the Kickstarter Red as well as her normal deco. Aside from winged flight, Honesty can make anyone speak or see the truth in any given situation... Each set comes with seven figures, and as luck would have it my set was shorted one when I received it. But the people at I AM ELEMENTAL are exceptional and an Enthusiasm (super-speed) figure is currently on her way to me as we speak. As I noted above, there will also be a 6-inch Courage figure released in November to add to these. Last edited by UrsaMagnus; 08-02-2015 at 12:45 PM.. |
