I seriously cannot wait to get this figure. I'll admit when it was first shown at SDCC I was a little puzzled over the choice of part six (great film though), but I've come to really dig the choice over time. He should go great with Freddy and provide some good fun for photos.
Now if only we could get an Michael Myers in the ultimate line. |

Joe, I know these are your thing, but I'm in on an Ultimate round soon for the personal shelves. Freddy, Terminator, and Jason here I got that ooh factor as soon as I saw them each time.

Now if only we could get an Michael Myers in the ultimate line. I do have a couple of gripes (or nitpicks if you will) with this figure. The mask is too small (it should be wider), and I'm not a fan of this figure having two fisted hands. Also, you can see on figure's torso the gunshots that he takes as he is shot by Megan's father late in the movie, but curiously, he is missing the bullet hole in the hockey mask from where the final shot landed. Again, these are small things, and don't really detract from the figure all that much. Like many others, I cannot wait to get my hands on this guy. |

Regarding Jason, I think most people wanted the parts 3 and 4 look but then it would be pretty much a straight re-release of the preexisting part 3 figure.
Regarding Michael, unfortunately the lack of license shoots it down. Easily it would just be the part one look and that box would have been SWEET. And since it also goes with the theme, I'm curious if we will ever get the Winchester brothers from Supernatural. (Although it wouldn't surprise me if this eventually will become a Funko Legacy property.) It would be awesome to have Sam and Dean to battle these psychos...and would be made even sweeter since Jared Padalecki appeared in the Friday reboot, while Jensen Ackles appeared in the My Bloody Valentine remake, allowing those figures to make even more sense. |

This is what I've been wanting ever since I missed that Mezco version years ago. This blows it away! Cannot wait for the holidays this year! NECA is batting 1000 right now and this figure just makes me very extremely happy😊
The pics are insane, wait until they reveal the packaging. Seriously great job from NECA with this one. |

For me personally, part 6 was a no brainer when it came to being the ideal choice for the "ultimate" version of Jason. Among many Friday fans, "Jason Lives" is widely considered to be the best Jason film that released among the second phase of Friday the 13th films (I view from Part 5 onwards to "Jason goes to Hell" to be phase two, since Paramount really did have every intention of Jason staying dead after "The Final Chapter.") Not only that, but part 6's Jason also marked the first time that Jason appeared on screen as a zombie, and a superhero zombie at that...he had a friggen utility belt of death for crying out loud...lol.

A new Michael Myers would be sweet, especially if the box were to say "the shadow" instead of Michael Myers...but you know who I would love to see? Harry Warden from My Bloody Valentine. I wonder if NECA would ever consider grabbing that license. I love the original film, and actually enjoyed the remake even more, and it would be awesome to see Harry stalking on my shelves alongside Freddy, Michael, Jason, and Leatherface...

I think Randy from Neca might have said on Twitter that he might have an alternate hand. Either way, he has two fists hands to hold the fence post. Overall I'm very happy they made the figure and it looks really cool. Not perfect, but great none the less. |

I wouldn't even worry about the mask. Especially if you can look at a few figures next to each other in store.
Small gripes aside, this is the best representation of Jason Lives that I've ever seen. I really like the details in that head sculpt, and even the how ragged the bottom of the pants are. Blood, bullet holes, this is great! I can't stop looking at these pictures. |

Man, this figure looks SICK. I love it, although I have to admit that it's really odd seeing finished pics of it so soon after the release of the retro Part 6 figure...they're almost completely identical aside that one is all plastic and the other isn't. The Ultimate figure even seems to use some of the same sculpt from the retro figure, such as the head and the throwing dart pouch on his belt (and why shouldn't it? Those were perfect).
In a way this figure feels just a tiny bit redundant after the release of the retro one, but since I'm a whore for all things Jason of course I'll buy the thing, Part 6 being one of my all-time favorite Jason designs (more so than Parts 3 & 4). Besides, I realize that some people don't care for the retro line and have been wanting a standard-style Part 6, and this figure is a HUGE improvement from my old Mezco Part 6 (which I still love anyway). Also, I'll buy almost anything Jason-related that NECA puts out just to help support the line and the possibility that they'll release more F13 stuff in the future. Quote:

Yeah, I've always had a soft spot for Part 6...yes, it's a bit more "wink-wink" and silly compared to the rest of the series, but it's nonetheless a great film that really establishes the base for my favorite version of Jason...unstoppable zombie Jason! Plus, Jay got more screen-time than he did in Part 6 than in any other film, and like you, I just really dig his overall design, from his outfit to his mask to his Batman utility belt o' death. I agree with your assessment of the phases that the F13 films come in, but for me, it's a toss-up if Part 6 or Part 7 is my favorite Phase 2 film (I really love Jay's design in Part 7 as well, as well as the overall creepy atmosphere). Ideally, I'd also love to see an Ultimate Part 7 figure from NECA down the line. Quote:

However, it could just be a result of the softer plastic used for the mask and the fact that it probably wraps itself a tad around the head underneath it. Maybe? I don't know but I'll deal with it (the figure is otherwise awesome), but as you said, it's not 100% movie-accurate. Quote:

However, that one cop whose head got squished managed to unload a few rounds into Jay's chest at point-blank range before getting offed (this was before Megan's dad), so I assume perhaps the figure just reflects those bullet holes (skip to 1:24 in the video below)? *EDIT* Wait a minute, look at the thumbnail of the YouTube video...it's from the scene where he decaps the paintball trio, and Jason clearly already has the bullet holes on his chest that the figure has (this is much earlier in the movie). Continuity error on the film's part (perhaps the scenes were filmed out of order), or maybe they're just old holes from having been shot in a previous time/movie? That's "The Shape." Hmm, nice catch, I didn't notice the bullet holes on the figure until you pointed them out.

You would think that with as many times as I studied this movie in order to make my own costume, you would think I would have realized that those "bullet wounds" on the figure's torso are not actually bullet wounds, but from when Tommy was impaling him with the cemetery rod in the beginning of the film. Oops...my bad. I stand corrected. I might end up adding a dab of red paint on the figure from the paintball trio when this figure finally comes out, as it was one of my favorite scenes in the movie. I still have some of my Mcfarlane era decapitated limbs from the Movie Maniacs line, which will probably be how I end up posing this guy when it comes out, with the ripped off arm holding the machete... Good catch...it is the shape. I was trying to flex my horror movie muscles without resorting to Wikipedia. I think I need more work...lol. Also...that picture with Jason in his "final" resting place...is freaking awesome beyond words! Last edited by Trivial Psychic; 08-29-2015 at 12:42 PM.. |

I've been reviewing these photos more closely and I realized another reason why the mask looks off. The Ultimate figure's mask is one flat color, as opposed to the mask on the retro version that has a more detailed paint job to create a weathered look like in the movie.
The shape is better on the retro version too. It's still possible that you can flatten the 7" version with your fingers though. We'll see. The red triangle is off too. It's not wide enough. Weird, these kinds of details are never lost on Neca. I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that this is the first 7" Jason figure that was adapted from a retro and not the other way around. |

I think it's because the mego figures are bigger by about an inch so they have bigger heads. It's notable if you check out Joe's ultimate Leatherface gallery he has some nice shots of it next to the mego one and the size difference is obvious. I actually feel the smaller Leatherface head looks better, the mego one overdid the eyes and mouth.

Yeah, but Ultimate Leatherface has a completely different head than the Mego version. Ultimate LF has an updated sculpt. Ult Jason's head was probably pantographed from the Mego.
