Angela won that poll and will be appearing in a GOTG wave. I don't have a source but that's what someone said a page or so ago. We knew she won already, i mean where she will appear.

Unrelated to last post: last night I was in the Rivergate area of Nashville and saw the Rhino wave finally at retail, at Target. If anyone is interested. It's the first time I've seen that wave at brick and mortar, still not bad considering online was two months ago. I almost picked up Superior Venom because I didn't realize until I saw him up close how damn creepy he looks. But I passed. It looked like they had every figure but Chameleon.

Sorry but I think I deserve that Moonstar that got scrapped before we get Warpath, he just got a Legend. I kinda bet Psylocke wont happen because then the SDCC one will lose all its value. and really, do we need another Wolverine? and if we do get one you can bet its Old Man Logan.
Certainly didn't stop them from putting out Archangel. |

Well I was talking about AoA Morph who was basically a shape shifting spider-man/deadpool type character. The cartoon Morph was basically the character from the comics called Mimic.

I could go for that Morph. How about an Exiles back with Blink, Morph and Mimic. Exiles was, at least until the last year or two, one of the better X-related books out there, I thought. I was always entertained and you never really your heroes were completely safe. That would also be a way to get a Blink figure. She's not one of my most wanted but she is fairly high up on my wish list.

Thanks a lot, my man! Your astute and thoughtful observations inspire me to work harder at adding nuanced details to my posing. I'm trying to get better at this process and I feel like I'm making incremental (but consistent) gains. I lack the set pieces and camera skills/hardware that the upper echelon figure photo artists have, but I'm determined to perfect my posing first (creating a signature look) as I gradually move to the next level.
I really appreciate your sounding-board comments (and those of everyone else), they help me to improve! To be honest, I think your photography chops are of a fantastic level! Whatever camera you're using, it captures the scene in crisp quality, and you frame the figures brilliantly. I'm definitely gonna have to catch you up on this mate! |

Why would Hasbro care if the SDCC Psylocke loses value after a few years? They're not making money on the secondary market. Besides, it'd likely be either her purple version or her current costume (or maybe a swap) so the "X-Force variant" could still remain kinda rare. But with her showing up in the movie the timing is right for a re-release and it's an easy repack to fill a niche.

Don't worry, it'll be at retail. Making her an exclusive would be pretty cruel given how popular she is...Actually, I don't think NYCC does exclusives. Normally, NYCC is pretty uneventful, but this year has been a departure from the years past. Who knows, maybe there will be some exclusives next year...
Would suck if Rogue didn't come to light though like Dani Moonstar... |

I read somewhere on here that Hasbro didn't have a booth at NYCC they just did the preview night stuff. Could be wrong, just reciting what I saw.

Compared to the "higher ups" who, in my humble opinion, are resorting to quite elitist methods of toy photography (and accept no substitutes), you're clearly in this 100% for the fun of it.. which is how it should be! It doesn't matter a tick that flight stands are clearly shown or there's no confined studio to pose them in. It's just figures on a shelf posed beautifully.

I'm definitely gonna have to catch you up on this mate! About the camera I use, it's a super cheap ($15-$20) Olympus X-775 LOL I've shopped out 'real' cameras, but I end up opting for figs over hardware. As far a you catching up, you are being too modest, man...I've seen a couple of your set-ups and noted the quality your comments...you have skills man! Snap the shots! Quote:
That makes sense and explains why I couldn't recall the last NYCC exclusive Legend...was FF She-Hulk also an NYCC exclusive? Last edited by TheBlueMarvel; 10-09-2015 at 05:31 PM.. |

Thank you for the incredibly supportive comments. I agree 100% with your take on where the motivation should come from: the absolute joy to be found when creating pictorial representations of your favorite comic characters and events! As you suggested, some of the more highbrow photos almost seem out of reach, short of investing thousands of dollars on equipment/space/set elements...and that's all before any fig acquisition. While the aesthetic value of 'pro' photos is undeniable, they sometimes seem sterile and almost formulaic. The use of unsightly flight stands and shelf or bookcase tops might be frowned upon by professionals, but it also serves as a reminder that we can all participate in this celebration of comic/toy culture. Similar to guerrilla film-making, this approach to figure photography may have a charm of its own.

Unfortunately I'm one of the opposite kind, who enjoys crafting scenes and designing dioramas with a friend of mine, but with a dire camera which apparently has a hatred for focusing! I'm exceedingly proud of this growing dio of ours though, within which I've temporarily crafted a 90's-esque battle scenario, and of course the upcoming Rogue will be a welcome addition to it. |

@VonPooten
That is amazing man!!! I knew you were working on some mind-blowing magnum opus creation! Great job with the manifestation of powers, I love that ice-sled for Bobby and the way it starts in the foreground and circles around to the background...not to mention, Iceman's comic panel pose! Even without a killer camera, it still looks awesome, with great attention to composition. What did you use for Storm's lightning? Also, I'd love to see what's happening with Psylocke and what looks to be Omega Red's death coils on the left there (wide angles are so damn difficult)...That's shaping up to be quite an epic X-men vs Brotherhood showdown!! Bravo, man! Catch up to me? Whatever!! LOL Last edited by TheBlueMarvel; 10-09-2015 at 06:27 PM.. |

Bravo, man! Catch up to me? Whatever!! LOL Fortunately I cannot take any credit for the physical labour of love that went into this. That can only go to a true friend Jake, who actually exists on Figurerealm under the moniker of "custombase" if you want to check him out. We are both huge X-Men fans, so this huge project will be a love letter of sorts to the merry mutants. Jake is the epitome of genius, and that ice slide is my current favourite of his, too! Now Storm's lightning, that was me. Hot glue and wire, the simplest effect to achieve! Ah yes Psylocke and Gambit did get cut out a tad.. Here's a slightly better shot, and you were absolutely right that Betsy is speeding down Omega Red's death coil to introduce him to her boot! There's also an encounter between Gambit and Mystique, but man did the camera not want to focus on him, so there are no photos of that m'afraid. |

I AGREE! i totally think Frank Cho or David Finch were the inspiration for that mold and Coipel for all the spider-men and young female bucks.

Wow! I'm flabbergasted, dude! Hahaha! I think it's great that you got to do this with a buddy and that your sensibilities obviously complement each other. I'm really digging the pose on Storm; this better angle allows me to see her a bit more. Speaking of angles, I simply take more photos as a solution to wide shots. One shot of the macro view, followed by a series of shots of the 'hot spots' so to speak. You may want to video the display as a possible alternative. Additionally, I love that you use old Toybiz Legends figs. The Legends community seems to be thumbing their collective noses at the old figs, which is unfortunate because many of the figs still hold up IMO (I believe that some of this phenomenon can be attributed to the outrageous prices of old figs). The new Legends/Infinites have better proportions, but there was more sculpt variety with Toybiz (although, the detail on Scourge and Taskmaster serve to demonstrate that Hasbro's is listening to complaints about buck variety). One last question. Domino's laser-cannon blast, is that also homemade? Great creative job and that's extended to both you and Jake! Can't wait to see X-men vs Avengers!! |

Currently working on a custom Cap using the Grim Reaper body, and I have to say that this sculpt is PERFECT for Cap... I really think the upcoming Hasbro figure is finally going to be the end all be all modern aesthetic "classic" Cap that they can finally stop with. Lol... I think I'll be stocking up on Reaper fodder bodies now since there's so many Marvel and DC characters that will kill it using this sculpt.
