I'm not 100% sure I think the primary concern is paint jobs. You don't know the quality of what you're getting until it's received in.
I can overlook most paint jobs so I don't have an issue buying online. It's just easier especially because of the usually very long wait for retail. It all just depends on how badly I want something though. Sometimes the cost online is more expensive --even Amazon at first for instance Living Laser is nearly $30 through a third party seller. Now if history prevails that will likely go down to $15 in a month or two, more likely what I would pay.

Even if they did, it wouldn't be worth it.
They redesigned Lucky.

I think it's a waiting game but I do acknowledge there can certainly be issues with the price and shipping vs. balancing the patience in waiting for a more reasonable price. Still, to me it's better than waiting a year or more to get the new figures - hell what do I see most in stores around here, Wave 1 from 2014 still...two and a half years waiting. I've seen wave 1 of both 2015 and 2016 and the new comic packs, but to be honest i don't think I've anything past wave 1 from last year in the stores even once. I have no trust in retail at all stocking these things - the six inch line is much better but retail is still sucking at this line. |

I just have been preordering from BBTS just to make sure I get what I want but it would still be nice to see that shit in a store, yeah? Would make me feel better about the line's health.
Plus with TRU exclusives it would be better for me to find it in the store because I have consistently gotten a misshipment from their site when ordering more than one thing at a time.

That's the hard balance part. Take this new wave 3 - essentially going to run around $20 to $25 per figure. That's a lot, retail is what like $12 or $13 now? So in some cases double.. but on the other hand I'd rather have them sooner-ish (like this year) rather than be stuck 2+ years from now still wondering if they will ever hit retail.

You're right, it's getting harder to justify.

Especially with the diminishing quality and gear.

Too true...surprised BBTS didn't list any singles... Thankfully they brought back the card art... |

Id rather have articulation and accsories over card art. Honestly the old infinite no card art would be a better trade off if it meant getting back artic and gear....and FRAGGING STANDS!

Personally I miss the file cards/notes from the early days.
I love the one that came with Ghost Rider where Osborne is trying to get Doom to help him take on Ghost Rider and Doom is basically "Yeah...good luck with that." Fun stuff. |

Anything on the back of Rage's jacket?
Indeed. Although useless those were fun. Don't personally care about stands. I rarely use them anyway. |

For some reason the Ghost Rider I got came with Thor's card. Maybe because it was a re-issue they slipped up on that but it's pretty freaking weird.

That's weird indeed.
In my anticipation to see Scott's return in Civil War I've done some work to my MCU Ant-Man. Aside from the touch-ups that were desperately needed since Hasbro left tons of paint apps missing I also added more red since his suit in the comics is usually primarily red, gave him new hands so he could hold a shrink ray for even more fun times, attached a small backpack on his back even though I couldn't find one that looks similar to the one in the movie, and slightly longer antennae on the sides of the helmet. |

The Universe is expanding.... (pics to follow in next post)
No pure Hasbro product in this bunch. Panther (far right) is the closest but even with him I swapped the legs out and gave him a fresh coat of black paint. Because I'm OCD about my customs, Ronan got a touchup - filled in the odd gap I left on his front skirt panel and painted up the shoulder pads - so he's finally "done". Darkstar had a hair transplant to a head that actually fit the body and added some additional sculpt to said hair so it looked more like the reference art. Surfer just touched up the silver in spots and Antman is only there because I wanted to reference the costume without having to be online. And I'm still on a villain customizing kick, so heavy on the bad guys yet again. So, onto the rest... Tombstone - Like this guy but not overly fond of my sculpt work. I sculpted him in two stages - not intentionally, forgot I put the lower jaw/face sculpt on and it completely cured before I finished sculpting it. Because I am so OCD about the figures I'll eventually get another head and redo it. Eventually... Black Panther (left) - This was my original BP custom that was plain black. Since Hasbro released the newest one I added sculpt to this guy and made him my regal/modern Panther. Jubilee - really don't like the character enough to give her other outfits, so customed up my last one to her original outfit which is the only costume I even remotely like. Sandman - Wanted to have a "regular" Sandman to pair up with Silver Sable so swapped out the arms from a left over Thunderstrike. His "sand" arms will be kept with him so they can be changed out if needed. The other one is my "powering up" custom. I'd have the "Sand" version in the pic to complete the transformation but it's still in the package so use your imagination. Unicorn - This cornball has the goofiest helmets I think I've ever seen (sans Changeling's purple monstrosity). This one was the least offensive of the bunch so this is the outfit I went with. Blizzard - Wasn't sure which outfit to make for this guy. Finally decided on this one for the painting challenge it represented. Boy do I regret that. This guy took a lifetime to paint. Controller - First exposure to this guy was way back in an Captain America "Acts of Vengeance" comic I read as a kid. Controller didn't do much for me since he was in the issue for only a few panels, but I was always intrigued by the character. Razor Fist - I opted not to do his BDSM outfit as it's just too damn weird so combined the mask design from that outfit (again for the paint challenge) and one of his more...normal looks for the rest of him. Think he came out well. Giant Man - someone had a great shot with this figure painted up along with Wasp (will give credit to who that is if I can find the pic/ you make yourself known). So using that idea as a base I went full on Avengers EMH with the design and gave him the silver ear buds that his helmet collapsed into and added the particle container. Since the MU Antman doesn't have white eyes I left the mask open on Giant Man. First ML figure I've bought in years. For reference - the Darkstar art Last edited by Mordiganne; 05-03-2016 at 08:15 PM.. |
