In The Dark Knight Returns, Batman uses a Rifle to fire cable from one rooftop to another and walks across it like a tightrope. He gets shot in the chest and his costume is damaged, exposing the Body Armor he wears beneath his suit. He's also sporting a Thigh Belt with pouches to supplement his Utility Belt. Later in the story he uses a Pistol in an ankle holster to shoot a grappling hook. I mixed all of these elements together for my Custom.
I realize the Rifle is a little too large for him, but I'll replace it if I ever find an appropriate rifle that scales better with the figure. The Sling on the Rifle is from the DCUC Deathstroke Rifle. I repainted the Rifle with Acrylic paints. The Battle Damage on his Chest and the Straps on his Thigh and Ankle were sculpted out of Milliput and Painted by Hand. The Holster and Pistol were accessories that originally came with a Marvel Select Cable figure. I also painted the Shadow on the Other Batman figure's mask and had to touch up a lot of paint slop on the DC Multiverse Carrie Kelly Robin. |

This is a perfect rendition of him from the comics! The armor looks spot on too

This came out pretty damn cool, you could probably also do another easily for his battle damaged appearance from his first Mutant Leader fight.

Thanks. I just picked up the DC Multiverse Mutant Leader this morning and then I'll be done with the line when the Joker comes out next year or whenever. I'm probably in the minority here, but I really prefer the Batman Unlimited TDKR Batman over the Walmart Exclusive version that's readily available now. The Grimacing head sculpt on the older one is better in my opinion. If I do another custom Batman, it will be with that figure instead. I did think about doing a muddy Batman, but I was worried he'd look too strange out of context and posed with my other figures. One of the things I love about Batman is that while the costume looks cool and spooky, everything has a practical reason for being there. The large, bright yellow Bat symbol on his chest for instance is there to serve as a target to draw gunfire away from his face.
